Has the Speedway seen its end...?

http://www.chipandco.com/disney-closing-tomorrowland-speedway-257596/

Personally, I'd like to see the Speedway updated - take out the petrol engines and make them electric and maybe even re-theme the cars to Cars...I'm sure there are lots of kids, big and small, who'd love to take the wheel of Lightning McQueen or Mater or even Doc Hudson.

Failing that, it would be the loss of yet another original 1st day attraction which might not be a bad thing but cuts another tie to the history of Walt Disney...perhaps they'll move the Frozen thing from Epcot to Magic Kingdom?

I would be perfectly happy to see this go, and something new go in there. It has always felt somewhat wrong to me.

I love the fact it's original but the fumes give me a raging headache. I would like to see electric cars, that would help. But I would not miss it a huge amount either.

Well, I finally did it for the first time so I am ok with it going...

I think it needs to be updated if it "stays". Not much futuristic about it. I like the idea of Tron or Wreck it Ralph. I would love to drive around in a candy car!

I would LOVE to see the Tron Coaster in its spot, or even a Radiator Springs Racers type ride.

Honestly, I'm surprised they continue to run those cars. The fumes are horrible. Either switch to electric or get rid of it altogher. I won't miss it a bit!

I really kind of hate this attraction. The fumes are awful and our local amusement park has a better version. At WDW, you don't need these kinds of attractions. You have way cooler rides to do. You can drive these cars anywhere.

I like that it is original but it is so..... outdated. Space travel (Space Mountain) and other parts of Tomorrow land are relevant but this doesn't fit in at all. I heard that a virtual reality Wreck it Ralph ride maybe taking space in Stitch's Great Escape. I would love to see a Cars ride here or Tron, Tron would be a little more relevant,( I am really excited for Toy Storyland at Hollywood Studios but I feel like Cars should have been added too as it is in Disney's California Adventure. )

I definitely think they can do a similar track with a speed racer or a new type car and make everything neon colored and still be the same aspect. I defiantly think something cooler and more relevant could go in this space. Just don't ever get rid of the people mover or I will be very upset! lol

I would love to see "Tomorrowland" have more of a tomorrow feeling, but Disney has always struggled to stay current in this space on both coasts. Right now it just feels like "non-princess animation" land to me, which is sort of sad. While I highly doubt they would ever change the name of the land, I wish that they would come up with a more focused vision for the space.
