Hey all from the Frozen North!

Okay, maybe not so frozen but it's definitely rainy here in BC, Canada.

Planning our second trip to Disney (first to WDW!), and so glad I found this site! My children are older-ish (early teenagers...lordy, help us all!) and I'm no longer interested in forums describing the benefits of packing Goldfish Crackers in Ziplock vs. Tupperware. silly I have been creeping for a while and decided it's time to start posting!

So hello to you all!
yay

Hi and welcome Princess from Minnesota, your not so distant neighbor to the south biggrin This site is awesome for advice so if you have any questions, just ask away! What are your current plans for your trip? Do you know where you're staying, when you're going, or any restaurants you'd like to try?

Welcome, finally another BC person here. I'm on the island. Someone else who understands the crazy day of travel involved in getting to Orlando.

Hey Allie!

I am a planner by nature, so at eight months out I already have it all planned out! lol I am just hoping I can reel myself in and allow for more time to relax. Our trip to DL four years ago was a bit too hectic!

Currently, planning on arriving Oct 22, wanting to have a Little Mermaid room at AoA, but that might change based on any offers for Free Dining while we are there (I understand Free Dining isn't offered to those staying at AoA...how sad!). I am really excited about trying all the restaurants in WDW, attending MNSSHP, and check out some of the eats at the Food and Wine thingy in Epcot. I am also hoping to be able to manage my motion sickness and attempt the ToT!

Hello Neighbour! Have you made any trip down to WDW yet? Would love some advice from any others in the Pacific Northwest on how they booked their flights. So far it seems my options are leaving first thing in the morning and not arriving in the Park until at least 6:00pm (not a great choice as we only have five days there!), or catching a flight the night before, and hoping to catch some sleep on the airplanes/airports, and arriving in the park around 11:00am-1:00pm. There are no direct flights that I have seen, and all have either one or two stopovers. Ugh. Not sounding like a wonderful way to start our vacation!

Both trips we flew westjet, kelowna - Toronto - Orlando. We won't go for less than 12 days, 14 is better. Travel just takes to long. Depending on where you live, you may want to look into Seattle for flights.

Our first wdw trip we had an overnight layover in Toronto, and arrived in Orlando by 11 am. 2 years ago, no layover, arrived at 1 am. With a 2 year old. Both were exhausting.
Of you can sleep on flights try getting one that leaves late and gets in in the morning.

Our next trip is a kid free 8 nights in disneyland, it's so much easier to get to, and this is our 10th anniversary and we honeymooned at DL.

Only 5 days with 2 full days of travel is going to be exhausting, plus the 3 hour time change. If we only had a week, I would choose DL over WDW.

When we went to DL, we flew straight from YVR first thing in the morning. I know it was MUCH cheaper to fly out of Seattle, but I really did not want to deal with the hassle of crossing the border, driving there, etc, with small kids in tow.

I think I have found a flight that is YVR-Montreal-Orlando, departing YVR about 5:30pm and arriving in MCO about 5:30am. That would be great as we could do the park for the entire day...but I am not sure how the kids are going to react to a day that starts at 3:30am according to their internal clock! laugh I am hoping that the excitement of the park will be enough to keep them going until we can check into our hotel for a nap!!!

This year our initial plan was actually to go on a cruise (RCI, not Disney. sad ) which departs from Port Canaveral. I had originally thought of making a second trip to DL, but then though...hang on! WDW is in Florida, and I'm going to be there anyways for the cruise! May as well go a few days early and take in the park before our cruise! I would honestly love to stay longer, but the kids will miss eight days of school as it is. sad

Going for a cruise & WDW is a great plan. It's a long ways to fly for just 5 days. Check out Bellingham. But with some of the American Airlines you think you are getting a great deal, but then have to pay for baggage, eating up those savings.
