welcome Nick. This is a great site for folks who love everything Disney mickey

You mentioned that this is your first trip to Disney, how about for your GF? Any special occasion? Are you staying on site and have you begun planning?

January is a nice time of the year to visit WDW, mild weather (cool at night (at least for us who live in FL)) beach .

Let us know so we can start pointing you in the right direction awesome .

Cheers.

Both of our 1st trips will be in Jan. No special occasion just been together for 4 years and we both got raises in our jobs this year so we are splurging on 5 days in disney. Yes we are planning on staying on site, probably at a value resort unless a great room only discount happens else where that can have me paying under 125.00 a night. Since im about 180 days out im just starting now to look at planning. BOG has been booked for the Friday night we are there. Besides that nothing set in stone.!

Well congrats on your promotions, and you may be able to get a good price for your room based on the time of the year. January is slow season at WDW yay

Welcome Nick and GF from your neighbor in Connecticut. Fast Passes and Magic Bands and My Disney Experience website and app! Staying on property will get you Magic Bands, the website and app will let you sign up for Fast Passes before you even take your trip. Half the fun is planning the attractions you want to ride and getting your Fast Pass time reserved. I am sure the good folks on here will have lots of recommendations of which attractions to sign up for. I strongly recommend a Fast Pass for Sorin at Epcot at some time during your trip. Go a little early to the Land Pavillion prior to your Sorin Ride and grab a snack, drink or both. They have great food.

welcome from hot and sunny SC!

congrats on the promotions! What a wonderful way to celebrate!

First trips are always so exciting (so are 2nd, 3rd, 4th, well you get the picture)!

We've stayed at most of the Value Resorts and they worked perfectly for what we needed. A comfy bed to crash in after a long day and great themes.

Looks like you are on the right path with starting on your ADRs! Can't wait to hear more about your trip. biggrin

Welcome to the forum. We also like to travel to WDW in January - it's nice to get out of the cold and into the sun at that time of year. mickey

Hi, Nick & GF! Welcome from Pennsylvania mickey

Congratulations on your promotions and on taking your first trip to WDW. There's no place better!! At the values, the All-Star resorts have been running the least expensive, followed by Pop Century, and then Art of Animation. The layouts are very similar at all 5 value resorts. I would say that in general, adult couples tend to gravitate towards Pop. There shouldn't be too many school groups or sports teams traveling in January, but be advised that when said groups do travel, they are typically housed at the All-Star resorts. If you're looking for a more adult experience, I'd keep an eye on Pop. If you decide that upgrading to a moderate is a possibility, any of the choices would be excellent, but my personal favorite is Port Orleans Riverside.
