Hi all, just back from a week at WDW!

I've been going to WDW since 1981, we don't have kids and usually go back every 3-4 years.
Spent the last week at WDW, this has been a scaled back, more relaxed "acoustic" version of our usual trip. Last trip was in 2013, this time we stayed at a moderate resort, only made 3 dining reservations, 4-5 fastpasses, slept in and got to the parks a little later. I must say we enjoyed this trip more than we have in 20 years.
We approached this trip a little slower and more deliberately. I intentionally took my time to appreciate the sights, sounds, smells and overall ambience.
First, the positives.
-food was better than we've had in years
-it was crowded, but not unpleasant
-weather was great
-cast was friendly
-new rides were enjoyable
-fastpass and magicbands worked great
now the negatives
-electric scooters
-dang scooters!
-tattoos, blue/purple hair, piercings, (and that's just the parents)
-Disney Springs underwhelming

welcome from SC! I'm one of those mom's with purple hair and tattoos laugh Where did you eat this trip? There are so many new restaurants it's hard to hit them all but I am trying my best!

Thanks, I'm glad to find a place where I hopefully won't hear "aren't you a little old for... or isn't WDW for kids".
We ate at our usual favorites Coral Reef, Chefs de France & Sci Fi dine in. We ate at a couple of new places (to us) Mama Melrose & Yak & Yeti restaurants. We ate all of our breakfasts & 1 dinner at the our resort Sassagoula Floatworks and Food factory. The food seemed better this trip, than previous visits.

I forgot to mention we also ate & drank at Jock Lindsey's hangar bar at DS.

The steak at Mama Melrose is one of our favorites on property! And you can never go wrong with Yak and Yeti.

Hello. I love your user name! Everyone here will agree with that sentiment.

We are also kid-free adults and are finishing up a week at WDW. So who knows, we might have walked past each other.

We were there from 22nd-28th, sounds like we just passed each other! How were the crowds this week? It was crowded but not too bad, the longest we had to wait was 40 minutes for Dinosaur (was only supposed to be 20 minutes).

We arrived the day after you left. Crowds were mostly not bad. Our first Magic Kingdom day (Wednesday) seemed more crowded than I had expected. Animal Kingdom on Tuesday also. Epcot and Hollywood Studios were better. I always expect this time of year will have really low crowds, then I hear all the people speaking Spanish or Portuguese and remember that South American kids are on summer vacation this time of year.

Hello wdwizbest and welcome to "Walt Disney World for Grownups!" We also just got back from a week at the world. We were there Jan 21-28. From our aspect the crowds were not bad at all. We do this week every year because the crowds are pretty low. Overall the weather was pretty good all week, except for the Tornado Warning night but we spent that in TOTWL having a Tornado Warning party!

Once again welcome! If you get a minute pop over to the Introduce yourself section and tell us a little bit about yourself.

I fell in love with WDW the first time I visited and have had a 36 year obsession ever since. I've been fortunate enough to have traveled over most of the U.S. & out of the country in my life, but WDW remains to be my favorite place. I also thoroughly enjoy Universal studios Orlando & SeaWorld as well, but WDW will always hold a special place in my heart. It's not the only place we vacation, just my favorite. My wife likes WDW, but is not as obsessed with it as I am. She is a good sport and indulges me. We go back to Orlando every 3-4 years.
Been married 23 years, my wife owns a small business and I'm in the medical field. All of our kids are four legged, my wife shows dogs. My hobbies are old cars, I restored a numbers matching '78 Trans am, & Jeeps, I modified a '07 Rubicon unlimited. We travel quite a bit going to dog shows, and I go to the occasional car show. Oh yeah, I'm a Indiana jones fanatic as well.
We're planning to go back to WDW in '21 or '22, after Star Wars, Toy Story and Pandora expansions are completed. If I can, I'll talk my wife into going to Universal in '19, we haven't seen Diagon alley yet.

welcome Wdwizbest and I agree with CCP that I love your user name also. I hope to go back to WDW in 2018 or 2019. I had a discussion this week with co-workers who were trying to talk me into going to all inclusive places in Punta Cana or Mexico because after all its less expensive than Disney. To each their own - but I like our "own" better.

Life is short, do what makes you happy. I've seen way too many people do what they think other people "think" they should do. Mexico is okay, but parts of it are downright dangerous now. Besides sitting on the beach drinking all day gets boring pretty quick, at least to me. I'd much rather spend 3-4 days at WDW than a week on the beach.

LOL all our kids are four-legged also, but you only get one guess as to what they are.

(Hint: meow.)

Hi and welcome

Sounds like you had a great trip. I'm also one of the moms with purple hair. Curious to hear why you think that negatively impacts your trip.

We just got back from a week long trip from Feb 4th - 10th at Port Orleans French Quarter which it sounds like you stayed at as well. We LOVED French Quarter and thought crowds were pretty good.
