I enjoy the whole relaxed feel of a vacation without to much specific. We always spend an age pre-trip working out what we want to see do etc and just wing it around that.
Certain things do dictate where we go on certain days (EMH or specific events (SWW)) but other than that its all pretty flexible.
I can't imagine planning things down to the N'th degree (laminated and duplicated wink ) because all it takes is a late bus or an unexpected complication and its all out the window. gaah
Whilst i would never go that far i do understand some people have to have this degree of routine and thats cool also.
My biggest worry for out trip next year is how the FP+ is going to affect our more laid back touring style. We have hardly ever used (or needed to use) the previous fastpass incarnation and hope the new set up doesn't skew the standby lines horribly.

Totally understand...I map out my days and spread my ADRS so that I'am not eating at three signature restaurants in three consecutive nights..The FP + is also new to us this year and to be honest in our previous trips, all in the busy July month, the only passes we went for were Soarin..Toy Story..and Buzz...The rest we just got in line..Mostly under 30minute wait..I've got friends who never planned a thing on their first visit, and when they got back they never done POTC...Fantasmic..Never even seen Illunminations at Epcot. eek ...

To me not seeing attractions is more down to poor research.

Apart from the fact that I love planning muchlove I feel that as this is my 1st time and I know I won't be back in 2015 so I want to feel safe in the knowledge I am seeing and doing as much as I can.

I used to plan my DLP trips down the the minute but now I've been so many times the only thing I do is book a restaurant or 2 that are normally hard to get in. I don't like the fast pass system over there and since watching people queue for over 30 mins to get a fastpass when the standby queue was 20mins confused I never bother with that either!

I hope one day to have been to WDW enough times that I can chill out and not plan quite as much - but regardless there will always be some plans, just not full out lists on lists with subsections wink Hang on - nope I will probably still do it biggrin

That said my plans now are mainly centered around mornings and evenings (fastpasses and food) I then can use the afternoons to chill out and rest if I need to and if things like fastpass windows get missed then so be it. I would rather have them to begin with and change plans on the fly than miss out altogether.

Exactly...That's why they should have planned more... waiting

I'm the same way. We have planned more for this trip due to FP+... We used to just get on the plane and wing it from there. Now I have planned what parks each day due to FP+ but thats just our mornings because I made all of our fastpasses early enough that we can get a fourth if need be. I'll let you know after my trip how the FP+ affected us since it seems like we have a similar touring style.

We felt the same way about planning. Hubby would book tee times and I would make ADRs (because for me vacations are all about fine dining), but everything else was left up in the air. With FP+ we had to decide 60 days out which parks we would be in on which days. It may have something to do with lesser crowds in Sept, but changing FP+ on the fly was no problem. We never used a kiosk for a 4th FP (never needed one, stand by lines were virtually non-existent), but we changed our original 3 FPs on the MDE app several times. We were even able to overlap our 2nd FP time with our 1st FP time once we actually used our FP. (For example, FP#1 was for 11:05-12:05. FP#2 was for 12:10-1:10. Once we used FP#1 at 11:08, we could change FP#2 to 11:20-12:20.) On one occasion, it did warn me that there was an overlap, but it let me book it anyway. Because of the forced pre-planning, this trip didn't feel as spontaneous as our previous trips.

Wow! Good to know that it was still pretty easy to change on the fly.. The only FP+'s I really care about are the two I made for 7DMT and one for TSM since in the past I never made it in time for fastpasses there and I have a strict "no more than 30 minute wait" rule for standby, so it just never happened. But knowing that they are still pretty easy to modify puts me even more at ease when it comes to the new system.. I think thats great that you could also move #2 up even while technically inside #1's times. That really is cool.. We're going in less than two weeks so hoping for relatively the same crowds you experienced. We always go around this time and have never had an issue soo.. crossfingers crossfingers

Thanks for the info!!

I'm not sure we'll need fast pass, except maybe for 7dmt and Anna & Elsa. Maybe for peter pan? Epcot's test track we'll do first thing.

My mom really wants a spread sheet for this trip and I still refuse to spend hours building one. It's all on the App so she is having to lean to read my dads smart phone. She never upgraded to a flip phone and has never sent a text.

I LOVE your spreadsheet!!! Mine was just an excel one this year with no colors or pictures. Might have to revise my style for the next trip Wink
