I Wish They All Could Be California Grills...

Good Morning All....Excuse my thread title but we are playing at a hotel tonight and are doing some classic Beach Boy numbers, which brings me nicely to today's ( Friday ) Disney Food Blog review of The California Grill..If anyone of you needs reassuring that this is one of the best restaurants at WDW then read today's review...Now to my question...Having just made 3 Signature ADRS for October which took me months to pick..If you had to pick just one signature dining experience to celebrate an anniversary or birthday, which restaurant would you choose, and why.?..Would it be an old favourite or gamble on a new one...I'll give you my answer after October...

Then that's something you need to do next year Mr Ferret...You and your good lady..Get the glad rags on and have a gastronomic adventure...And months later when your looking thro the photos of that night..The flavours and aromas may have gone, but the memory lasts forever..( I'am a philosopher by the way ) .. awesome

My favourites at the moment are ( not in any particular order ) Cali Grill...Jiko...That's it....You know I wasn't impressed with Le Cellier..So my DS wanted to celebrate his birthday at Jiko this year..But Yachtsmen Steakhouse and Artist Point will be first timers for us..I had looked at Shula's but decided on YS ..And after much lip smacking I decided on AP over Narcoossee's ..I will give my report in November..I think they are about 10 signature restaurants at WDW..Jiko..Cali Grill..Flying Fish..Citricos..Narcoossee's..Bistro De Paris..AP...YS..Bluezoo..Shula's..and il Mulino..With V&A the only one with dinner jacket recommendation...I could be wrong with some of these..

I would pick Yachtsman because it is the all around winner for food, service, and location. We have a soft spot for Yacht club because we were married there. A very very close second is Artist Point. We love the location and the food is amazing. Try to get a seat by the windows the view is great. Oh and the cobbler is to die for! This year we are branching out and trying Cali grill and Narcoossee's so maybe we will have a new favorite.

The Cali Grill was awesome...The food, ambience, server, and our view of Bay lake..Not forgetting watching " Wishes " from the outside platform..

After I win the lottery (which will be difficult since I rarely play), I will book the chef's table at Victoria and Albert. And I will book it regularly since I will also buy a house at Golden Oaks with those lottery winnings. In fact, any time any of y'all come to WDW I will book the chef's table and invite you to join us. My, isn't imagination fun?

Okay, back to real life. We've never done a signature restaurant, but we have three planned for this fall, and coincidentally two of them will be during our anniversary trip, so I can answer exactly what I would do to celebrate a momentous occasion.

We wanted to try California Grill, but scheduling didn't accommodate making that ADR on our actual anniversary. So we're trying the Hollywood Brown Derby on the actual date, and California Grill later in the trip.

If it's with my husband and for our anniversary hands down it I would be Le Cellier (it was the place we went on our honeymoon and holds special meaning for us). For anything else it would be California Grill. We went there in February to celebrate the half marathon and it was worth every penny!

That said, those are the only two I've been to. laugh

We absolutely LOVED Yachtsman's Steakhouse. Narcoossee's was great, but still think Yachtsman's was better. Cali Grill is another terrific choice (extensive sushi menu AND fireworks) You can see fireworks at Narcoossee's too, but Cali Grill is SO much better!!!! Food wise, I honestly have to say (from a beef stand point) Yachtsman's was outstanding

It would depend on the mood and what I'm craving. I'd say normally, it's Yachtsmen Steakhouse because I love steak in general. But looking at the menus and reviews, I'd be up for Cali Grill as a second choice. Third...well, I'd lean towards Jiko so I could try something new.

California Grill - hands down. Jiko is our second. V&A is actually our #1, but is also a splurge that we can't make each trip. But we NEVER miss going up to the Cali Grill!!!
