P.S. Wish I was the one who took this picture, but I wasn't.

Maybe he's actually the mythical water-walking cat and he's actually on the way up!

Several years ago, the local newspaper was looking for fluff pictures, and somehow was at a pet groomer when we took our cat Ernie in for a bath. This picture ran with a captions something like.. "Let MEEEE-OUTTTTT!!!".

He actually looks pretty well behaved for a cat getting a bath. They are usually not very amenable.

Ernie was the star of our Christmas card one year, as the proprietor of 'Ernie's Bar & Grill', which is what we call the bar in our gameroom. This picture is framed and on the bar to this day. The original Ernie's bar is in San Antonio.

Ernie was the best little cat ever, a shelter cat who was found wandering the streets and as we liked to say "won the kitty lottery" and ended up at our house. He passed away a couple of years ago, but he had a GREAT life for about a dozen years with us.

clapping That is just about the greatest thing ever! We have some kitty lottery winners as well! Not sure they'd deal so well with mini-sombreros, though... sarcastic laugh

I have another one I never finished which was the same concept with 'Ernie's Liquor Store' which I found in the middle of nowhere in Indiana.

Ernie was quite the entrepreneur!

Did Ernie always look that angry, or just when you made him wear a little sombrero?

Well, at the risk of wearing this bunch out with Ernie, I DO need to show his "softer side".

As for the sombrero, keep in mind that he was being held by my wife (photoshopped out), had on a sombrero, and was being forced to pose repeatedly by a goofy photographer flashing lights in his eyes when he didn't want to be.

Actually, he was quite serious and matter of fact in his day to day activities, which made him all the more funny.

As for cats eating ice cream, I don't know whether its recommended, but he sure seemed to enjoy it!

Are cats allowed to eat ice cream?

(Bali notes that she needs to look into shaving her cats...)

When we got Ernie, he was being fostered by a retired gentleman I've known all my life who helped out the Humane Society. His first name is Taylor.

Since he was so nice, we started sending him regular cards (Christmas, etc) and always addressed them to "Uncle Taylor". Whenever we had a fun picture of Ernie, we'd send him one of those, always with a note from Ernie to his 'Uncle'.

He used to tell me the biggest mistake of his life was not keeping that little cat.

When I told him about Ernie's passing, he teared up even though he hadn't seen him in person in over ten years.

BTW, every time I look at ZapperZ's original picture, I become very curious if there was some mild animal cruelty preceding that shot. I'm a bit suspicious how someone had their camera at the ready right before a cat somehow wound up airborne in the middle of the water...
