Came across this awesome photo of Disneyland's Space Mountain with the lights on:

Ha! Those rides always look so strange when the "cover of darkness" is removed. Like regular old (tame!) carnival roller coasters. Funny how much the darkness adds to the ride.

So does the queue line usually get that close to the cars? Or is this not taken from the queue line?

I could be all wrong but this picture strikes me as one of the times when the ride has malfunctioned and the lights were turned on to "evacuate" the ride, does anyone know ? Also it is quite interesting how many levels of track can be seen in that one shot.

Very astute Vettelover. As I understand it, one of the cars got stuck and the lights came on for emergency.

Not sure how I'd feel about having to evacuate if I were on WDW's Space Mountain. That track is HIGH above a LONG drop! ;-)

I haven't been to Disneyland's version -- is it the same situation?
