Is It Ever To Early To Start Planning

I'm of the mind that it's never really to early to start planning a Disney vacation, as long as you keep flexibility in mind. However, some of my friends and family think I'm nuts when I start talking about a group trip that we're planning for October 2018. Do your travel companions start to roll their eyes when you talk about things years in advance (like Star Wars or Toy Story land? How to you deal with that? Is it ever to early to begin thinking about a Disney trip?

Heck no! If you're like me and you can't make it down their multiple times a year, planning ahead is the only way to survive! laugh I just only discuss plans with DH and even then I limit myself as I know he's essentially tuning me out until the trip is under the one year mark! wink

I just ignore others' negativity; I do not need that in my life. It's like when my husband says I am putting too much grated cheese on things...like who are you to judge me?? I am planning the trip for October and I am already looking at things for a 2020 trip to Disneyland. People think I am crazy for even loving Disney as much as I do, so planning a trip a few years in advance should not surprise them at all.

Heck, no, it's never too early. Even if your final plans bear little resemblance to your original plans. Planning is a big part of the fun.

I'd say it depends on what your definition of planning is. The way I look at it I start planning when park hours & easyWDW's park recommendations come out & my 180 day mark hit. Before that I'm gathering ideas & doing research with the exceptions of booking hotels, airfare & shuttle/DME.

That sounds like two really good plans either way awesome

Well call me daft but when we go to POR in September I'm going to throw a coin in at the bridge and here's hoping the Disney magic does it job!

Just last night while out buying some Disney gift cards at Sam's Club to pay off our trip, I said to my DH "I'm going to start laying out the luggage and putting in things we'll need." and he had the strange nerve to give me a look and respond "You know it's two months away right?"

Stare Uh, YEA I know that. Just about the time to start packing!

You're right on time! laugh It's called "staging" in my house. The actual packing (i.e. everything into the bags in the place it will stay until we arrive) doesn't happen here until about two weeks before, but I'm "staging" things that are going (i.e. making piles in the suitcases so I don't lose things" for months before.

No way! I start planning the minute I get home from the last trip. I make a list of the things I want to do next visit.

Yes! Exactly! I like that term..."staging". I'm gonna start using it here! (In goes the small digital clock!) laugh
