J Squared Episode 2

With about 2 weeks until I head south again, I thought I would work on a Pre-trip Report!

This time it is a bit of a flashback. Yep you read that subject line correctly, it is another J Squared trip of harassing bartenders as soon as the doors are opened!

JoAnn and I will be spending an exciting 8 days in the parks! You read that right, you are going to get overloaded with a ton of food, drink and shenanigans.

We will be doing a split stay. Starting with Pop which is a favorite for both of us. And ending at Coronado Springs. I haven't stayed at Coronado Springs before so I am excited to add a new resort to my "done that" list!

The parks we will be visiting ~
Hollywood Studios
Epcot
Hollywood Studios
Epcot
Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Animal Kingdom
Magic Kingdom

The restaurants we have ADRs for ~
Spice Road Table
City Works Eatery & Pour House (New for both of us)
The Edison (New for both of us)
Coral Reef
Kona Cafe
Raglan Road
Enzo's Hideaway (New for both of us)
Wine Bar George
We each also have a long list of Food and Wine goodies to try.

Of course with no FastPass available we are just going to take each day as it comes. Exploring the parks and riding rides as we come upon them or see good wait times on the app. I loved this part of our last trip. Made the day seem much more relaxed.

We have lots of Fall and Halloween treats and DRINKS we want to try. Hoping for not only a monorail crawl but if I can get buzzed and hype myself up, a Skyliner crawl too lol.

Should be a good time, I'm sure JoAnn will chime in with anything I forgot and we will post here and update as much as we can and of course a full blown trip report after.

Me too! I'm excited to try Raglan Road again. I wasn't too impressed the first time. Hoping for a better experience this go round.

I've been doing menu research on the newbies (ok all of them) and can't wait to try some new things that are out of the box for me. Going to stray from my norms. awesome

I love that! I always try and do at least 5 new things on every trip but it can be hard for me when it comes to food.

Added Trattoria al Forno for breakfast! Since Epcot isn't opening until 11 we decided on a breakfast before hand one morning.

I love Trattoria al Forno for breakfast! I will say that's when it was the character dining.

So we took away Enzo's Hideaway and added Chefs de France. A first for me.

My "want to try" list is growing.

We found out what restaurants will be open at Coronado and Maya Grill IS NOT one of them which we wanted to try. But Three Bridges and Dahlia Lounge will be open and the food at both sounds amazing!

We both have to get thru 4 more days of work. I think I can.....

I made it to my hotel around 530ish. There is a Sushi Burrito restaurant across the street called Kazu that I grabbed dinner from. It was delicious. Will head the rest of the way tomorrow.

Got to Pop around 1:00 and had two drinks (had to catch up). We brought our stuff to the room and went to Hollywood Studios. We tried to go Geyser Point at Wilderness Lodge but the wait was an hour so we took a Lyft back to Pop and got something to eat.

Back in our room for the night.

Sunday morning we took our time getting ready. We were relaxing in the room when I looked to see what was available for breakfast. It was 9:15am and I got a 9:45 reservation for breakfast at Topolino's Terrace. JoAnn for the win!! I just got one entree this time as we had plenty of eating to do. The quiche gruyere was just as good as last month. Last month i was given a special cocktail menu. We didn't receive one this time. I showed our server the picture of the menu and we were able to order off it. I got the Cafe D'louvre and Jen got the TeRoCello.

After breakfast we went to Epcot and arrived shortly after opening. We rode Nemo and Journey to the Imagination and then wondered through World Showcase. We had a late lunch reservation at Spice Road table for drinks and appetizers. We both ordered the hummus and olives. I got the Tangier's Breeze and Jen got a white wine flight. Almost forgot, we got drinks from the bar outside of the Regal Eagle before Spice Road Table.

While we were finishing up at Spice Road Table, our friends (and former forum members) arrived at the Beach Club. We walked over there and met up with them. Abby, Jen and I had a drink at Martha's Vineyard.

After drinks, Jen and I left Epcot and went to Disney Springs for a late dinner at City Works. We were both pretty tired by then. We were able to get seated early. I just got a couple of appetizers and Jen order tacos. We were too tired to drink. i did get a sample taste of the Oktoberfest beer they had on tap.

Back to Pop and we called it a night.

Monday we were up at Hollywood Studios before 10:00. We were on Star Tours right at 10:00 and tried but didn't get a boarding pass. After Star Tours, we did Muppet Vision 3D and then went to Baseline Tap House to open the bar. Jen held the table while I got our food and drinks. While I was getting our food Abby and Kevin got there. We each had the rib-eye beef puff and split a pretzel. After we ate we met up with Dee and chatted for a bit.

We then walked over to the Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge, I got us a table while the rest got drinks. Then it started raining. Nothing like drinking in the rain without a care in the world. We were starting to get hungry so we ordered from the ABC Commissary. While we were eating, it started to pour again. Dee and Christy joined us there and we closed the place down. We were able to get a boarding group at 2:00. We had to leave to get to Disney Springs for our dinner reservation at The Edison. We didn't get to ride Rise of the Resistance. The ride went down a couple of times during the day. I think we would have been able to get on before we left if it hadn't.

Dinner at The Edison was fantastic. I got the burger, Abby and Jen got the short ribs and Kevin got the prime rib. We are all pleased with our meals. The star of the night was the candied bacon. I would go back just for that.

After dinner we took Abby and Kevin back to Beach Club.

Needless to say we didn't get a lot of steps in this day. We enjoyed the company and drinks that went with it.

Tuesday, we were back at Epcot. Jen and I rope dropped parking. We started the day with Test Track and made our way to World Showcase. We were meeting the others here today for some food and wine fun. We stopped in the Odyssey Building. The future Epcot display was incredible.

As we approached Mexico, we noticed there was no line to get in so we walked right into the pavilion. We road Three Caballeros and got in line for margaritas. I got the pink popcorn and I don't remember what Jen had but it was created by Neil Patrick Harris.

After Mexico, we got something to eat in China. I had the pot stickers and Jen got an eggroll. We sat and watched the entertainers in the American Gardens Theater. I wanted to get something else to eat (the chips we had in the car and the pot sticker didn't cut it). I got my favorite teriyaki chicken bun.

We finally met up with Abby and Kevin and went the AP pop up store. I spent more than I had planned (which became the theme for the rest of the week). Jen, Abby and I hit up some rides (Soarin', Living with the Land and Nemo) before Abby had to leave as they were going to Kevin's sister's house for dinner.

Jen and I has dinner at Coral Reef. I got the steak and Jen had shrimp & grits. We thanked the Phoenicians on our way out and went back for our last night at Pop.

Wednesday was moving day. We packed up the car and went to Magic Kingdom. Our timing was perfect as we walked on the ferry not long before it took off.

We did a few rides (Peter Pan, Small World, Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain) before Abby and Kevin got there. On our way to Fantasy Land, we took our picture touching the slipper. We stopped for a quick snack too. We met up with Abby and Kevin by City Hall and went over to the Poly for lunch at Kona Cafe. Lunch was good. I had the Lapu Lapu (nothing beats a drink in a pineapple).

After lunch, we went back to the park and did a couple of rides (flying carpets and Pirates) and went to the Tiki Room. We did a little shopping and headed out to go to Disney Springs for dinner at Raglan Road.

We got there a little early as we were combining two reservations for a total of 8 people. I stopped at the front desk at Pop the night before to see if they could help us. Erik called Raglan Road and they hooked us up. We wanted to get there early to make sure everything was set. Dinner was the four us, Dee, Christy and my cousin and her boyfriend. Jen got the burger and one of the seasonal cocktails. I tried it, it was tasty. I had the braised beef and the Iced Irish. Ok, Jen and i had two drinks each.

We called it a night and went to our new home, Coronado Springs. We are pleased with our room location - Casistas 1. I booked a standard room but we were upgraded to preferred. Bonus!

We were still pretty full from dinner so we walked around and explored the resort. I haven't stayed here since the tower was opened. I love this resort.

Thursday was another Epcot day. We started the morning with breakfast at Trattoria al Forno with Abby and Kevin. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots. I had the poached eggs and Jen had the fruit plate. For drinks, I got an iced coffee with frangelico and Jen had a Sangria.

After breakfast, we walked to Epcot. Abby and Kevin had to go back to Beach Club to meet up with Dee and Christy. Jen and I waited for them naturally in a bar (Rose & Crown). We stopped at the World Showplace building and sampled some maple syrup. Picked up a few things at the Food and Wine festival store. We made our way around World Showcase. I got a drink at the bar outside of Regal Eagle (moonshine sour) and watched the mariachi band with Christy while the others shopped in the AP store. We had to leave the theater after the last set as they were going to clean. We sat at a table outside of the American Pavilion and talked, drank and laughed.

Jen, Abby, Kevin and I had a dinner reservation at Chef de France. Dee and Christy were having dinner at Kona. We said our good byes to Dee and Christy. We had a little time before our reservation Jen and I watched the Beauty and Beast sing a long. Abby went to Mouse Gears and Kevin ran backed to Beach Club to drop some stuff off.

Dinner was good. I had the beef bourguignon and Jen got the steak. We did the pre fixe menu which included a glass of wine.

After dinner, we stopped at the World Traveler store for more shopping. We said our good byes to Abby and Kevin.

Friday is our last full day Sad

We go home on Saturday. We will add pictures over the next few days.

Want to add more on our dinner at Chefs de France. My dinner was good (but not as good as I have had it in the past). The others ordered the steak which they did not enjoy.

I had it booked for dinner in November since I hadn't been there in a while. After dinner the other night, I decided to cancel it. I will be working that day from my room and have Epcot booked that day. Since I will only have a few hours once I get there, I will either get quick service or the food booths for festival of the Holidays.
