Japan?

Teppan Edo or Tokyo Dining? My problem with Disney dining is sooo many choices so little vacation! The menus both look good so it comes down to how's the food and service! I'm going to pack some clothes with extra stretchy waists at the rate my planning is going!

Loved Teppan Edo. We were lucky enough to share our table with a very nice family from TN. The show the chef put on was excellent! And the food was super yummy! I think that was the only place my daughter ate something that wasn't deep fried, or in patty form. And my son still talks about the drinks we had.

The onion volcano that the chef created at Teppan Edo was awesome!

Two totally different types of atmospheres and food. Teppan Edo it's hit or miss on what the people will be like that you sit with.

And for exactly that reason, we have always chosen Tokyo Dining. We love it there and have never been disappointed.

I don't know if it's possible to go wrong with hibachi. Though for me, we have a number of hibachi places around here so we can go any time. We wouldn't choose it but if it's something you can't or don't get very often then I say go for it!

Well, menu wise, Tokyo Dining has a more complete menu and more varieties of entrees and more varieties of sushi like the kind you'd get a typical Japanese restaurant. Teppan Edo seems to be all about the hibachi grill. They have other items but their hibachi is their selling point.

I haven't dined at either but I have dined at several Japanese restaurants. Whenever my family go to Japanese restaurants, we tend to stick to the regular dining room instead of sitting at the hibachi tables. For one thing, it's a ton of food to eat when dining at the hibachi tables. Most of us rather get sushi and an entree, udon or a bento box, rather than stuff ourselves with all that hibachi food because they tack on salad, miso soup and maybe an appetizer with it though it depends on the restaurant. My family loves sushi including me and we can eat a lot of sushi so we'd all pretty full if we tacked on hibachi food with it! laugh

Plus there's also the element of sitting with a random strangers. If it was extended family, we may do it but I think most of us prefer the intimate setting of the regular dining room.

I found sitting at Biergarten with strangers WAAAAY worse than ever sitting at a Hibachi grill. At hibachi there's a little entertainment going on and you are sitting side by side so it's easy to talk to each other if you don't feel like chatting with others (which we never do). At Biergarten we were stuck with no music and either sitting across from each other or next to each other but with a stranger on the other side of the table. For me, sitting with strangers at Hibachi makes no difference.

I'd be more worried about the other guest being stuck near my boys! I think they are obnoxious and have bad manners!!!!!!!!!!! The schools says otherwise! sarcastic

My husband and I loved Tokyo Dining. The food and service was amazing!! It was probably one of our favorite places to eat while at Disney, definitely in our top 5. However, we are both sort of introverts....well, my husband is an introvert and I'm not terribly comfortable around strangers. So, sharing a dinner table with strangers has never been appealing to us. It was actually our deciding factor for choosing Tokyo Dining. Big smile

I feel like if you've been to one Teppan place, you've been to them all. So if you have done Teppan style dining before, then go for Tokyo Dining. If you haven't done Teppan or just really enjoy the show, then do Teppan Edo.
