JoAnn's 2016 Disneyland Adventure

I am going to try my best to keep up with my trip report while here.

I left Hartford at 6:00am with a layover on Newark. My flight arrived at John Wayne airport around 11:30 and I was checked in to the Marriot at 1:15pm. I waited for my cousins to get back to the hotel so we could get lunch and pick up our race stuff.

Around 2:00 we were off. We had a late lunch at California Pizza Kitchen and went to the Disneyland Hotel to the expo. We didn't stay at the expo long and went to Downtown Disney. I had made a dinner ADR for us at 6:00 at Le Brea Bakery. We were still full from lunch so we just had dessert. The ice cream sandwiches were really good.

I am in my room at the hotel ready for bed (I have been up since 2:15 Eastern). The city of Aneheim is having some kind of party outside across the street from my hotel. The music is sooooo loud. The is no way I am getting to sleep early tonight. I have an early day tomorrow.

I brought Mickey and monkey with me (for those who aren't connected to me on facebook - Mickey and monkey are my Steelers good luck charms. I belong to a Steelers fan club and they come with to watch the games).

Just got back to the hotel. Sat and listened to Elton John (yes, the Elton John) for a while. He was there filming for the DL 60th anniversary special next month. Couldn't see him from where I was sitting. I didn't even attempt it. Derrick Hough and someone else from Dancing With The Stars were supposed to be there too.

Yesterday was a solo day for me. My cousins hung out in Downtown Disney. I met them for dinner at the Grand Californian.

My cousin's daughter ran the half this morning. My cousin and I were on the cheer squad. I am back in California Adventure waiting for them. So I am taking in Turtle Talk with Crush. I did it yesterday too. The seats are more comfortable here than the one in Epcot.

World of Color was awesome. I did the dining package. We were right up front. When they say those sitting by the water will get wet, they weren't kidding.

I enjoyed the tour. I was disappointed we didn't go into Walt's apartment. The Dream Suite was gorgeous. I had read that some people toured the suite and not the apartment. I didn't know if it depended on day or if it was a permanent change. Jessie was our guide. I asked her if it was a permanent changed which she confirmed it was.

Almost home. Landed in Newark about 45 minutes ago. I thought the flight was uneventful until 2 people were escorted off the plane by police. From what I heard from other passengers a guy was drunk and causing an altercation with a woman. The woman was moved at some point because she sitting in front of me when we landed and he was behind me.

We got the Dream Suite, too. At first I was really disappointed not to see Walt's apartment OR Club 33, but I agree that the Dream Suite was really cool. I've heard the the AdventuresByDisney tours are going into the apartment, which is why I suspect WiWF was changed--to make the ABD tour more exclusive. The original furniture from the apartment (allegedly) is at the Walt Disney Family Museum.
