Married, but going solo

I had a friend a while back tell me about how she was just more into WDW than her husband so she was going to WDW solo and he was taking a Vegas trip with his friends. Do any of you folks in relationships think this could work for you? Or are you all in relationships where you both love Disney equally?

We pretty much dig WDW, but I could definitely see me going to WDW solo if the timing wasn't right for both of us. Then again, I'm not sure when we'd have the superfluous dough to send me on a vacation and not him!

I think that if I ever told my wife that I was going to WDW without her you would be reading about my untimely demise. I must say though that I would not even think about it. We are inseperable and do everything we possibly can together. Even when I was drag racing she would travel with me whenever possible and even with the VERY loud cars she would be at that starting line cheering us on.

Not in a million years! My wife would track me down. Heck , she would probably know I was leaving before I got out the driveway by using mental telepathy! I could never see going without her though. After all she is also my best friend. I'm the one that made her crazy about Disney in the first place. We can always tell when the other was online looking at something disney just by the look on our faces. Its a little freaky sometimes really. I'll start thinking about something, and she starts talking about the same thing. Guess thats what 30 years together does to you.

That sounds like a recipe for a really fun disaster! Who's the bad cop who says "no, we can't go to Disney World five times a year!" laugh

Was drag racing a hobby or a profession?

cdub: for many years I worked on a professional class drag race team going all over the country but I stress that I only worked on it but I was NOT the driver.

That's crazy! I can't imagine taking seperate vacations. My husband is such a kid too that Disney is more of his playground than Vegas. I think sending your husband alone to Vegas is asking for trouble. It seems we always learn new things about each other when we travel together. It's one of our favorite things to do. I guess since my husband travels to much for work that we greatly value our time we do have together. I can't see it being any other way. If Disney was more of his favorite, I would still go with him b/c it would be special for him and that would make it special for me too.

I could never go to on a Disney vacation without Jason. He would probably kill me..I don't know if I could do a solo trip. Eating alone going everywhere alone...I think it would be sad for me. Other people may be able to do it, but I don't think i could!

I agree. Luckily, DW and I both love Disney World enough that we both want it to be a destination every year. But if she loved it more than I did and we could still swing the cost, I'm pretty sure we'd still go. mickey

This recently came up with CJ and me waiting
He's had back pain which has gotten more severe over the last month. A tumble down the stirs forced him to the doctor and the doctor had him go for an MRI. The MRI revealed 2 herniated discs, L3-L4 and L4-L5 sad

He has an appointment with a back specialist on Jan. 26th. He figures he will be told time is needed for this to heal and maybe certain exercises, etc. but he also wondered if the doctor would tel him he needs to be out of work for a few weeks. (It hurts when he sits and he has a desk job) If he needs to take off work now, he will not have the vacation time for our trip mad

Why dos something major always seem to happen before my Disney trips?????!! waiting

UL, that just stinks! I'm sorry to hear about CJ. Hopefully something can be worked out. Tell the doctor that you promise he'll work while laying flat on his back!

You all seem very lucky to have spouses who share your interest in Disney...but let's put this another way: If you were married to someone who did not ever want to go to WDW (you know, you married a freak who hates Disney), would you go without them, or would you never go to WDW again because they wouldn't go with you? I'm thinking that, faced with the prospect of never going again, some of you would get up the nerve to be solo travelers. wink

Well Solo, I can honestly say if Scrappy didn't like WDW the first time I took her, I may have never went again, but I dont really know. Our love of Disney started together, and that's the way it has always been! In another life, who knows. sarcastic !

Yep -- I've gone alone and I'd go alone again. It's a completely different experience biggrin

I used to think it would be OK but now know I'd be lonely. She's been there without me several times but for me SHE is part of the MAGIC! She's such a kid!

Honestly, I don't think I could have married someone who hated Disney. Disney has always been a part of my life in some way and it is one of the things that makes me happiest.

I think there is a huge reason why the man of my dreams is sitting on the couch next to me right now in a Mickey shirt and Mickey pants Smile.

Thanks for asking! I've had three stories published now (fourth coming out next month, though using a pseudonym since it's on the adult side and I don't need a student finding it!), as well as a couple of articles. I'm still working on finding an agent for the novel -- it's VERY time consuming and NOT easy!
Sooner or later I'll find a good match!

Adult because it's a little bit dirty.

I actually posted a story I wrote on my blog: jasonflumwriter.blogspot.com if any of you'd like to read it.

If you do, please leave a comment so I know that you saw it.

Thanks!

(BTW - sorry for hijacking the thread!)

PS. I can attest that if I tried to go to WDW solo, I'd probably be going solo from then on (If I could afford it after the lawyers!)
