MNSSHP Costume Roll Call!

Very excited we just bought our tickets for our first Hallowe'en party in WDW!

We have decided that we will all be dressing as characters from Frozen. The girls immediately snapped up Anna and Elsa, the boy will be Kristoff...so that left me with Olaf! I could not find any costumes that I liked (especially since the girls are a little older) and so I undertook to sew them. Considering I do not know how to sew this was an undertaking indeed! They are mostly completed now (just need the finishing touches), so I get to tackle the Kristoff costume next. Will be trying to recreate the "Summer" look so my boy won't die of heat!

Has anyone else decided what they will be or completed their costume?

Well good morning and congrats on the ideas..We are also doing our first MNSSHP but we are kinda chicken out as far as costumes...Our DS will be 17 whilst we are there and he is now a young man, ( not as crazy as his old dad ) So we will be wearing Halloween T-Shirts that my DW sister will send us from Los Angeles..But I applaud you for getting into the party atmosphere... clapping

Wow those are some outfits!!!! i think you have done an amazing job considering you have made them yourself!!!

I actually need some ideas we have been twice before - first year I went as a pirate and last year I just had ears as i stupidly forgot to pack my accessories to make my outfit Halloween

I really want to dress up something like your olaf outfit where it is subtle but you are dressed up!!!

I love the 'Frozen' theme! The girls look great.

I've written a couple of articles over the years about grown-up costumes for MNSSHP that may (or may not) help get the ideas flowing for folks.

Great job on the costumes! They are gorgeous! I did the same last year. Took on my first ever sewing project and made the Dorothy dress. Was proud of myself because it turned out well and you should be really proud!

I can't believe that was your first time sewing! They look great. I especially love Anna's dress, can't wait to see what you do for Olaf !

Omg they are amazing! I don't believe that you haven't sewn before though, they look way too professional!

At the min we are thinking we might reuse our costumes from last year... Though I'm open to ideas and suggestions Wink I'd love to make something really unique.... I just need to think of something lol

Good job on sewing your Dorothy costume VelcroPooh! I think the scariest part is getting started! But by going slow it's amazing what one can accomplish! It was extra difficult as there were no patterns for the Anna and Elsa dresses. Some were sort of similar, but the modifications required to make them work as the costumes we needed was way too much of a headache so I also learned how to draft a basic pattern. I learned a lot...but not sure I want to do it again!

Amy: as we are wanting to keep our luggage to a bare minimum (hoping for carry on only), I had originally decided to be a pin-up Minnie Mouse. Cute polka-dot dress, ear headband, and then beautiful 50's hair and makeup. Super cute, super easy to do, and very little to pack if you re-purpose one of your already packed vacation dresses!

PhilHowellDesign: Love your summer Olaf idea! I will be making my own "flurry" out of a lace parasol with sparkley snowflakes dangling off it from ribbons.

I've actually been looking at outfits today and I'm thinking possibly snow white - blue vest top, yellow skirt, red hairband but I love the idea of Minnie mouse might have to look into that aswell thanks so much!!!

Thank you guys for the comments on the dresses! I am actually rather proud (shocked!) at how they turned out. I know I am an early planner (it entertains me!), but I can't wait for you guys to finalize your costumes and share some pics! clapping

Those dresses look great. You should make more and sell them on Ebay~ You'd have your Disney vacation paid for in no time laugh
My DH and I are planning on going to our first MNSSHP this year, we just haven't picked the date yet. I usually hate Halloween activities, but since it's Disney, I know I'll love it. I don't "do" costumes, so I'm not sure yet what I'll wear. In the past when I've been forced to go to Halloween parties, it's always just been ironic T-shirts for me(i.e., "World's greatest Grandpa") I'm not sure what I'll do for MNSSHP. It might just be ears for us. I really love the Ursula ears from last year and I can't wait to see what they have for Halloween ears this year.

Those dresses look amazing! My fiance and I are going this year, he wants to be Thor and I am undecided....I thought Elsa, or might try one of the female Avengers, however I do not think I can pull off Black Widow's outfit LOL.

You made those?! They're gorgeous! I'm debating adding the MNSSHP to our itinerary for our trip with my sisters this trip. I wasn't expecting a 1st week of Sept party date so I hand't even considered it! We went in October 2012 and loved it and my sisters have never been, but I'm not sure I can stomach another $248 for party tickets...

I've just started learning how to sew and boy have you set the bar high! Those dresses are amazing awesome
We will be going to our first MNSSHP in October and we are going as Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, and a penguin dressed as Pascal laugh

Ha Ha! I said the same thing after the Dorothy dress. "I'm so happy with how it turned out! I'm never doing it again!"

I luckily found a pattern, but I made a couple of modifications on mine as well. I made an underskirt out of white and lace on the bottom because it was rather see thru (the blue gingham) in the sun without it. I also ended up having to take the top back apart. The top was literally made like an apron and the straps kept slipping down, so I took it apart and sewed it all into one piece on the sides and tacked down the middles cause it was driving me bonkers.

Great job on them and especially with drafting your own patterns. That's awesome.

I want to go to the pirates league and get made up like a pirate for the party. If I can't go to the pirates league, I'll get the Minnie Mouse dress, pair it with ears and yellow shoes.

Wow! Your costumes look fantastic, princess!! I'm most likely doing Cheshire Cat (enhanced from last year, but largely recycled). DH was going to do mad hatter, but we'll have to make some modifications to account for the weather or switch characters.

I haven't made any definite plans yet. We're doing DHS in the morning, and Beaches and Cream right before the party without really any time to change, so whatever we do needs to double as park wear earlier in the day! Though now I'm thinking I may try to change my Beaches and Cream reservation for a little earlier to allow a tad more time to change?

I'm kind of thinking Minnie Mouse, only because I have a red and white polka dotted dress, plus ears. But I may come up with a better idea before then, idk!

Wow Princess you did a fabulous job. I am impressed that you made your own pattern - my grandmother used to do that. You should be very proud of yourself. awesome
