Must Do Shopping - Epcot World Showcase

If you only had one stopping shop to make in Epcot's World Showcase where would it be? What would you buy? Is there one store that you just can't miss?

For me, it's Il Bel Cristallo in Italy for Murano Glass.

I haven't shopped much in World Showcase. I do love the Mouse Gears store though.

I tend to browse my head off in the WS, but haven't actually done much retail damage there yet. I have opted for Disney shirts, and various other Mouse related stuff. (I have my eye on those awesome white dishes with the little Mickey in the center....).

But, I have a weakness for the caramel shop in Germany, and never miss oogling the beautiful African soapstone sculptures in the "outpost" area, the Oxacan art in Mexico, the amazing Norwegian perfume...the WS is just a feast for the senses.

However, I am going to be at the World the week of Thanksgiving, and you know that means Christmas shopping.....Smile

I have indulged in French perfume, Norwegian Chocolate (Freia brand, a bar called Walters Mandler is to die for), all things Karamel Kuche, and Italian wine, but my heart belongs to Mouse Gear!!! I shop there every time I am in the park, even if I was there the dy before ! laugh

I love to browse in Italy! The perfume is awesome... but I also enjoy picking out my own oyster too and getting a pearl or two!

Yep, Mouse Gear all the way. The next best thing to DTD. And I, too, visit often, multiple times per day sometimes. Fun to dream. Smile

We usually don't by much in World Showcase but we browse all the stores. The ones we have bought stuff from is Karamel Kuche, the french bakery, and my son usually get's stuff at the big store in the Japanese pavillion because he loves Pokemon

I agree with JoAnn and Jeff, give me Mouse Gears. I do not think I have ever bought anything in World Showcase except something to eat.

I love the shop in the France pavillion that has those handmade soaps. Have to get a bar of "Lavender Flower" everytime we go.

Love that stuff! Once I get moved into my new apartment (with walk-in closet) I'm getting a couple of bars just to have sitting in the closet so that it makes all of my clothes smell good. biggrin

I generally hate shopping. But at Epcot I never miss the Twinings tea shop, and I usually visit the wine shops.

laugh I specifically said World Showcase because I knew everyone was going to say "Mouse Gears" if I left it open! Y'all are so funny. laugh

I really love to shop World Showcase you can find such beautiful, unique pieces there. However over the years shopping WS has become much more homogenized and it frustrates me to no end. I have to wonder if most people don't enjoy the world shopping like I do.

The year I discovered that you could get the same "Got Wine" Tshirt in Canada as you could in France, and that they were both made in China mad me want to scream! It didn't always use to be like that. I think I miss the dedicated toy store in the UK most.

We may have bought a few things in the WS, usually in Germany. But I agree, I love Mouse Gears! My favorite store in a park!

I absolutely love the Mitsukoshi store in Japan. It is the best!

By the way, does anyone know how to attach the countdown nametags?

Copy the HTML code of the countdown you created, go to "Edit setting" under "Forum", then scroll down to "Signature" and paste it in, then scroll down and click save. Refresh then and Shazam!

I love to look at the merchindise in WS, but I often find myself thinking who comes to Disney to buy this kind of stuff, as some of it is really, really expensive. I have seen plenty of people walking around with a hat from Mexico or I could understnad some perfume, but part of the WS experince is just seeing what other cultures have. Even if I don't buy anything, WS is pretty much the one place I could be okay with just looking around without the intent to buy.

LOL... though we don't usually go for "really really expensive" I do love shopping in World showcase. I've bought wine in Canada and Italy, perfume from France, murano glass in Italy, many bears in Germany, lots of random stuff in Japan, Fez and leather goods in Morocco. I think that I actually do most of my shopping in world Showcase to tell you the truth. If I had more money to spend, I'm pretty sure that I'd spend it there.

My mom after a little too much of the adult beverage experience in WS came back to the hotel room with one of the $1,000 Morocco rugs... My dad was a little mad gaah

I like getting a stein from Germany, and some cool chop sticks

Japan Japan Japan.... they have some of the coolest stuff! Love it there! My son is so excited this time because he wants to buy some Japanese Pokemon Cards. Don't know why? But I'm not sure they have them in Japanese... but him and I will probably buy some cards... lol
