For my DD

muchlove She is honeymooning five days in Disney before flying to the Caribbean. I just booked the five nights at the Boardwalk with a BW view room for her. I want to schedule one or two special things for the new couple to do while they are there. So, I'm looking for ideas please. One thing I think I know is that they won't want to sacrifice park time, so that would rule out things like Private Dining at GF.

I haven't been to Cindy's in about 10 years- is that cool for a newly married couple? What else can you recommend.

TIA

It is hard to think of ideas that will not take away park time...awesome gift by the way!!! When are they getting married?

You could book them a private Disney photographer to take some cool pics in Epcot on their honeymoon wearing buttons and ears!

A tour maybe? One that is before park opening?

A scuba experience/dolphin experience at the Seas

Make ADR's at some of the best restaurants in the park

Have a special cake delivered during one of their dinners...celebrating their marriage!

I have to say, one of the best things I remember about my honeymoon...when my hubby and I left for our trip the day after the wedding...I opened a side pocket in my purse and saw an envelope. It was a sweet note written on a napkin from my parents with a $100 bill just saying have fun and some other sweet things! It was seriously so sweet! Smile

Sorry, my ideas are not that great!

I like the cake idea. Maybe a special cake at Cindy's or BOG. Or Flying Fish since they will be right there.

Have you thought about sending them something from Disney Floral & Gifts? There have several romance themed options
http://www.disneyflorist.com/category/occasions/loveanniversary/display

Maybe a special ADR at Signature restaurant Le Cellier is in park.

Here's an idea ... what about arranging to have a limo pick them up at the airport and take them to their resort??
It would be a nice "surprise" start to a wonderful honeymoon!

I'm thinking of getting them a portrait session with a WDW photographer. Then an ADR at either Flying Fish, Yachtsman or Le Cell and I'll have the cake done for that meal. I haven't been to BOG yet- is it romantic? Is Cindy's romantic for dinner?

I can also have a basket in the room with flowers and the bride and groom hats and whatever.

I'll let them take advantage of DME, that's money that I can spend elsewhere.

I have time, it's June 2014- so please keep the suggestions coming.

Damn, I'm gonna go broke from this wedding.

That's one of the things that Daddys are for. I'm positive that your little girl is going to have an amazing, unforgettable, magical wedding and honeymoon!

Yep, you sure are "gonna go broke", but it is going to be one of the most amazing days of your life! Our daughter just got married a month ago and it was the best - and most expensive - party we have ever had! Enjoy every second of it!

Everything I've read about BOG suggests that it's really loud. The decoration is fabulous, food is okay, and it's REALLY NOISY. Not sure that is the best pick for a romantic dinner (although someone who's actually been there and not just stalking the DFB for reviews may have another opinion).

What about a Tomorrowland Terrace dessert party so they can watch the fireworks up close or a Fantasmic dinner package?

Hello Colonel,

I keep thinking about chicken (Colonel Sanders?) but it may refer to your military rank.

I was thinking that your daughter and future son-in-law may enjoy a romantic carriage ride, available at the Port Orleans resorts (Riverside, French Quarter).

Have a blast, but leave the dynamite at home.

Jim

The photo session is a definite. I'm paying for another photo session in Playa Del Carmen where she wants to do trash the dress at the beach. Shhh that's a secret too.

The basket with the bride and groom hats and the other stuff is a definite.

The cake is a probable.

Still thinking...

I like the horse and carriage, but it's too far away.

BTW, how dare you confuse me with that chicken slinger! I'm a famous Disney personage! laugh

In fact I was reading a trip report yesterday and the blogger had pictures of her at BOG - she was wearing ear plugs.

BOG is rather loud. The seating is also very close. Not my idea of a romantic place to eat.

You could always go all the way and reserve Victoria and Albert's! Although, it takes away park time. It HAS to be romantic though...walk on the beach afterwards, watch the fireworks!

They are foodies, but I don't think V&A would do it for them. I'm doing private dining at GF in September with Mrs. Colonel, if I like it, then maybe they can do that.

Cindy's for dinner? Cali Grill? They love sushi..Flying Fish?

Do they still do the Segway Tour? My DD loves that and I'm sure my SIL2B would too.

Cali Grill has always had amazing sushi and you just can NOT beat the view! It's always on my "must do" list.

The west wing of BOG is dark and "mysterious" - kinda romantic BUT, it is so loud and so dark. We couldn't even have a conversation. They have very limited two person tables too.

The in-room basket of wedding ears, etc delivery should be awesome! - great touch

Just my opinion, I found the Italy pavillon at night was the most romantic spot in Epcot. May-be an ADR at one the Italian restaurants?

Congratulations to you and your family! Best wishes for a perfect day!

PS: You're a rockin' Dad to be so thoughtful awesome

Hi Colonel,
Sorry I have just returned from a trip so I am a little late to the party.

We married and honeymooned in Disney in 2011.

We were sent a basket including champagne and Disney Signature Wear glasses. It was really lovely. I definately recommend Disney Floral.

Did you know that you can do trash the dress at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon? The photo session is early morning before the water parks open to guests.

I did a photo session a couple years ago at GF with my DB with photopass and it was very worth it! Make sure they semi match for the photo session because the ones where the group had different clothing styles looked more distracting compared to the ones where everyone wore roughly the same colors. I love California Grill!! Did it for my birthday dinner this year and it was fabulous! I can't wait to go back once we have the money. You could have the wedding ears embroidered as well.

I didnt know about trash the dress at the water parks. They are definitely going to do that on the beach on the second leg of the honeymoon, so I'll leave that alone. I'll let them do a photo session near the Boardwalk.

I'm leaning towards Cali Grill or GF private dining. I'll make my decision after I do the private dining in September.

I discussed the dining with them and my DD very sensibly said that there would be plenty of romantic dinners in the second part of the honeymoon, so she just wants to concentrate on the parks. She made one ADR for BOG because she considers that a must do. So I will provide a basket with Bride and Groom Ears, champagne and some other stuff. Flowers in the room. And a session with a Disney photographer. And anything else I can think of.

So the wedding went off without a hitch. My DD looked like a disney princess. It was an awesome reception party. I now have no ass because I danced it off.

I just dropped them at the airport and they are off to the Boardwalk. My last task is to call the room assigner at the BW before they land and make sure they get a good room with an unobstructed view

Oh, and they decided to do the private photography session in Epcot WS.
