Day 2 - MK

We were awake stupidly again this morning so we decided to get to MK in time for Rope Drop. We have only made it for RD once before so I was very excited! We got up and got ready, not forgetting to pack the ponchos today Wink just in case. We hopped in the car and headed to MK without stopping for breakfast... I already had plans for where we would have breakfast...

We parked the car and headed over to MK via the monorail to make sure we would arrive in time to see the RD ceremony.

Sy went through bag check and I went right in to find an unobstructed view, managed to get a great spot right in the middle before the turnstiles right in front of a wall and flowerbed, which meant no one could stand right in front of me Smile small victory for a vertically challenged person like myself Wink Sy soon joined me and the show began moments later. I totally didn't cry, I'm way too grown up, honest... Do you believe me yet? Wink Ah it was as wonderful as the last time and worth rushing around to make it in time to see.

Once the masses starting making their way towards Anna and Elsa we slowly made our way in and up main street. First stop, breakfast in the new Starbucks Bakery Laughing out loud I've never been in there before but I had seen online loads of yummy looking breakfast items so I knew I wanted to try it out.

We spent a little while deciding what to have but we finally settled on a ham and cheese croissant for me and a sausage and egg muffin for Sy. Plus some apple slices with caramel to share, a diet coke for me and an iced coffee for Sy.

We found a table outside Casey's and ate breakfast while watching the crowds power walking towards Fantasyland*

*I actually have no idea where they were walking, but I'm taking an educated guess Wink

We ate our breakfast and sat for a bit letting it go down. We were just enjoying being there, soaking up the atmosphere. I left Sy sitting and went to watch some main street performers singing and dancing Laughing out loud After about half an hour we decided we would go and ride some rides! We walked through the still empty Liberty Square, Sy found somewhere to stop - turns out that walk from Casey's was a long tiring walk and he needed to sit down again...

We made our way over to Haunted Mansion and rode with no queue whatsoever. Next up we headed over to It's a Small World, again with no queue. I think we went on a few more rides Wink but this is where my memory fails me... Sorry!

By lunchtime it was HOT and we were struggling so we decided to call it a day for now and head back to the hotel, we would be coming back later on after our afternoon tea at the Grand so it didn't matter that we were leaving so early Wink

We were back at the hotel by 1pm, the heat and early morning was getting to us and before we knew it we were both napping on the bed... oops! I had set an alarm just in case we fell asleep luckily.

The alarm went off and awoke us both from our naps. Feeling refreshed we got ready for our afternoon tea Smile I was very unimaginative and wore the exact same dress as I wore the last time we went, doh! We hopped in the car and headed over to the Grand Floridian.

We valet parked the car (yes its lazy but it was so hot and I didn't want to get all sweaty and manky before our tea), and made our way inside. We were a little early so we checked in and then grabbed a seat and listened to the pianist.

Soon enough a lady came over to show us inside. We were seated at the exact same table as last time. The tearoom was full to the brim of guests, much busier than it was the last time. Our waitress came to take our order, I had the same yummy mango oolong tea Laughing out loud I'd been so looking forward having some more of that tea and it certainly didn't disappoint, I asked if they sold any tea to take away but they only had the big boxes of that tea at about $60 if my memory is correct... either way I thought it was a bit too much for some tea Wink

Our sandwiches soon arrived, I had all chicken again which was no problem while Sy not being the fussy git I am, had the usual selection. It was followed by scones & jam tart and then finally the cakes (Sy) and strawberries & cream (me).

We had a lovely & yummy afternoon Smile in fact, it was so good we started to wonder what it would be like to stay in the Grand Floridian... In fact we kept talking about it... Before we knew it we were at the front desk asking if they had any availability for a night or 2 during our trip. They did but only in one of their suites in club level, you don't even wanna know how much that was Wink the girl who was chatting with us and finding out availability for us mentioned trying at the Villas as we had mentioned we owned there. Knowing how far in advance the rooms get booked out I didn't hold out much hope however I had read online that they can often make the odd room become available at the last moment, rooms they keep back for inventory etc. So with nothing to lose we took a walk over to ask (and have a nosey round!).

If you haven't been into the lobby of the villas yet, its worth it. Its*SO* worth it. The reception is beautiful, so relaxing and serene. There was a girl sat at the desk with no other guests around so we went over to ask if we might be able to squeeze in a night or 2. We sat down and she made a few calls before coming back to say that they had 3 nights available in a lake view studio! Shock I wasn't expecting that at all! We decided to just do 2 nights (I say we, what I really mean is I did - Sy wanted all 3 but I was worried as we were already borrowing nearly all of near years points for our trip in October so I said we could only do 2). So that was it, we were booked for 2 night in the villas at the Grand Floridian starting the next day! Ahhhhh! And that's not where the fun ended... we walked back out the front doors to the villas and Sy walked me over to the Senses spa, and booked me in for an aromatherapy massage for 2 days later. He admitted some work he was doing for a friend he was getting paid double than what he told me - he was keeping it for birthday surprises for me Laughing out loud *Awwwwww*

Back outside we walked over to the main hotel again and hopped on the monorail over to MK.

Back inside the Magic Kingdom we wandered over to Tomorrowland and went into Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, followed by Buzz Lightyear (which Sy won by a country mile!)

We then made our way over to Big Thunder Mountain and arrived just as they shut it down. A lady wasn't well in the queue so they were tending to her. While we were stood there I started to feel a bit icky so we decided to make our way out of the park. We got to the bridge by Splash mountain and I started to feel icky. We went into Pecos bill's so that I could use the restroom (it was the closest one!). Unfortunately I wasn't well Sad I came out and we sat at a table for a bit while Sy went to grab me a drink. I had the shakes badly as I'd got myself into a bit of a state (I hate being ill, especially sick - which I was). I went to find Sy as he had been gone ages and bless the girl on the counter saw my birthday badge and gave me a chocolate cake, it was so sweet of her but oh dear, it was really the last thing I wanted lol, Sy stashed it in the bag for later and gave me the water which to took right back into the bathroom with me Sad After about 45 mins I still wasn't feeling well and shaking like a leaf Sy went to ask for a manager to see if there might be a wheelchair nearby to get me out of the park - there was no way I could walk all that way (we had to be miles away from the front didn't we?!). The manager was so sweet and went to find one for me, I don't remember her name now however I did leave a lovely note for her at guest services to thank her a few days later. Poor Sy had to push me in the sticky heat all the way back to the Grand Floridian Sad He doesn't mind but I do - I'm a proud soul Wink (since coming home I have bought my own electric wheelchair, I've gotta get over myself and accept what I can and can't do, no matter how much I hate to admit it, I'm struggling at the moment health wise).

We were soon back at our hotel, and I was starting to feel a little better - I was certainly shaking less. Sy wanted some dinner but I couldn't face it so he dropped me at the hotel while he went out to get something to eat. He ended up with take out Popeye's, he did get something for me as he thought I should probably eat something and I did eat a little bit of chicken before admitting defeat and heading to bed.

Bit of a naff end to the day but by tomorrow I was feeling much better Smile

I'm just learning to sew. Hopefully one day I'll be able to make dresses like you! Right now though, I struggle to cut and sew straight! I worry if I actually managed to sew a dress, it'd fall apart while I was wearing it Shock laugh

HA! You say that, but I feel like it too! I'm always convinced people are gonna know it's homemade too, you know what I mean, there's making your own clothes and then there's making your own clothes but they look rubbish and out of shape etc. I always worry people will think the latter.

Believe it or not, I'm not very good at sewing, I'm pretty much a straight sew kinda girl, the dresses I make have to be simple or I don't make them Wink and it's all done with Jersey fabric with a straight stitch Wink

From what I've seen you seem to do a lovely job awesome

Awww thank you - they aren't all home made though Wink the leopard print one was a shop bought one Wink

Ahhh thank you Smile I try to make them a bit interesting and I do love to make people smile so I try to add a little humour in them Wink

Is that ketchup with those scrambled eggs? My family always put ketchup on eggs. I've never known anyone else who did, though. (Not me, I don't eat eggs, but the parents and all the siblings used ketchup when I was a kid.)

Yes! Sy loves ketchup on his eggs Laughing out loud I'm not really a fan of ketchup in general, I probably wouldn't have it in the house if it werent for Sy who loves it. I think tomatoes are the devils food Wink haha

Hey Robyn- I love that you wore an animal print dress to Animal Kingdom- great Disneybounding!

We have a Tilted Kilt 10 miles from us..I always hear good things about the food but I haven't tried it yet,
you've inspired me to swing on by sometime soon...

and... awesome I muchlove Bob Evans Banana Bread --------------- Delicious~~~

That dress was totally on purpose Wink I was umming and aahhing in the shop whether to buy it (it was a tight month!) but I justified to myself that I needed to buy the dress so I could wear it to animal kingdom! HAHA there's always an excuse to buy clothes Wink

The food was good in Tilted Kilt, I cannot deny it (as much as I would love to!) I might even go as far to say it was one of the best meals of the trip... plus it was very reasonably priced (well compared to Disney).

Alicemouse - yes I do make some of my dresses, would love to take credit and say I make them all but that would be a fib! the first pic of us with Donald is a dress I made (probably should have looked at the fabric a bit more carefully before though as now I see it reads 'FOR RENT' on it Shock O.M.G.! )

yay yay

I am *so* with you, I see all these people moaning about it raining and it ruining their trip to Disney, yes it would be better if it didn't rain during the trip but it would take a lot more than a bit of rain to ruin my trip to Disney!

Robyn always looks stunning on vacation in her pretty maxi dresses.
I've actually got two packed in my bag for San Diego and it's entirely because she pulls them off so well. My fingers are crossed I'll look half as nice. muchlove I however do not have the talent to make my own.

Wow, what can I say Kristen?! Firstly, yay! to you taking dresses on your trip, you always look so glam so i'm sure these will just add to that awesome I think I will need to pics of the dresses on biggrin

And secondly, I think you probably have seen I've had a bit of a crappy few weeks with one thing and another and so your compliment, while I don't necessarily agree with it, goes straight to my heart and fills it. muchlove muchlove muchlove

So sorry you weren't feeling well at Magic Kingdom, but glad to hear you felt better the next day.

I love the photo of the two of you on Buzz Lightyear.

And I'm thinking the folks at the Grand Floridian must absolutely love it when real British people come in for tea. Like it's an endorsement of the experience's authenticity.

Looking very forward to the next installment.

Your dresses are beautiful!!!! I have a friend who makes dresses all the time and it makes me so jealous. I think to myself, oh I can do that... well, I can't waiting

Sorry you weren't feeling well and I hope the rest of the trip was great! Can't wait to read more.

As far as ketchup goes, I have a fear of it... No seriously LOL My hubby and friends and even Blondie make fun of me all the time. I LOVE red sauce on pizza and salsa but ketchup, don't even get it near me eek yuck

The Tilted Kilt, Awesome place. The girls are always very friendly, actually more friendly to me than the hubby lol. They know how to get a good tip from me... and the roasted garlic fries, well, they are ALWAYS the first thing I order muchlove

Day 3

Today was going to be an exciting day - we were checking into the Villas at the Grand Floridian! Ahhhhhhhhhhh! We were up super early and raring to go, I was feeling much better this morning which is a nice change as usually it takes me a day or 2 to get over it. We packed a bag to take over to VGF with us and stopped by reception to ask them to fit a blind (we realised we were missing one of the blinds, we had a blackout blind but not a modesty blind) and also to let them know we wouldn't be staying for 2 nights. We were soon making our way into the gates at the Grand Floridian and saying those magical words 'We are checking in'!! Eeeeeeek! We were greeted at the car when we arrived in front of the villas and taken through to reception to check in. Not surprisingly our room wasn't ready yet (it was still before 10am after all), but they took my email again and said that I would get a message when the room was ready.

We left our bags with belhop, parked the car and made our way over to the monorail. We were heading to Epcot this morning to meet up with our friend Ann-Marie who we met on the Disney Dream in 2012 and had since met up with her a couple of times as she then started a job in the UK pavilion in Epcot. Ann-Marie had the morning off so we were going to do a few rides and generally just chatter like mad for a few hours!

We took the monorail to TTC and then on over to Epcot. We have been known to park at MK and get the monorail over to Epcot just so we get to do that ride Laughing out loud deliriously happy pics...

Ann-Marie arrived just before us but she had to walk over from UK and we met up at the fountain. We decided to head inside to Soarin' and Living with the land. We went to get a return time on the DAS card and then went to ride LWTL as there was only a 5 min wait. LOVE living with the Land Laughing out loud

Hidden Mickey!

We had a while to wait still for our Soarin' return time so we decided to get a drink and a cake from Sunshine Seasons. I had a yummy strawberry shortcake Laughing out loud I've never had one before but really fancied trying it, it didn't disappoint! I'm afraid I was too gutsy and didn't get a picture before eating, sob!

After a while chatting it was time for Soarin' yay! We got a picture in the queue line, for some reason Sy decided to crouch down and look odd...

So I made him take it again standing normally hehehe

We had B row 1, best seats Laughing out loud It was amazing as always, though now i'd ridden it so much it will be nice to see an updated film.

Afterwards we walked with Ann-Marie round to the UK pavilion, it was getting round to her having to start work Sad but we did come across a character bomb (as Ann-Marie called it) in between Canada and the UK. As she works in the UK she sees them there frequently but I'd never seen one before so we went inside to have a few pics. Some of the characters were very friendly with Ann-Marie so I think they may have seen her working around there before Wink ;)

We said goodbye to Ann-Marie and made plans to meet up again and take her up to TOTWL later in the trip and made our way over to France as we had an ADR at Chef's De France.

We were about an hour early but they seated us right away Smile we hadn't really had much to eat so we were starving.

Our server was really sweet and Sy noticed she clocked that I was wearing a birthday badge, I wish I had noticed too as then I might have been more prepared with what was to come at the end of the meal Wink We had some of the yummy bread along with an Orangina each followed shortly by macaroni cheese (me) and a tartiflette (Sy), Sy also insisted on having some fries as well... carb overload for me so I didn't really have any though they were good I was too focused on my amazing mac and cheese.

We decided to skip dessert, as much as we really wanted to have something - our tummies were just too full! However our server had other ideas and brought me a profiterole with a candle in and just about every waiter in there sang happy birthday to me in French Shock I was just a little mortified Shock

It was so hot and we were so full that we decided we should head over and check out the hotel and try and swim before the afternoon storms came in (I had received an email to say our room was ready about 15 minutes after checking in this morning). We took the boat back to Futureworld and made our way to the monorail.

A pic of me feeling very at home in the Grand Laughing out loud

On our walk back to the Villas we found this little guy...

He was so tame, we were about 2 ft away from him and he just carried on eating away there.

I already knew we were going to have an amazing room as the email had our room number on it, and so the first thing I did was google the room number to find out exactly where it was... top floor with a perfect view of the Wedding Pavilion, the Poly and in the distance, Epcot! Once I've sort out some of the video we took I'll upload it, I totally just took video and forgot to take any pics! Doh! So for now you will have to just take my word for how amazing it was Laughing out loud We unpacked a bit and had a nosey round it all before getting changed into our swimmers and heading down to the pool, which was MOBBED. I later remembered that the Poly pool was closed and so it was probably busier as guests were allowed to use the pool of the Grand instead.

I was making the most of having a water camera and took a load of pics, here are just a select few Wink

YMCA

Sy couldn't find his prescription sunglasses so he was 'improvising'

We had a nice swim and then headed back up to the room to shower and generally chill out for a bit. In the time it took for us to walk up to the room the heavens opened and we were in a huge thunderstorm. It was blue sky when we went inside! You gotta love that ever changing Florida weather Wink

We were both feeling quite tired again so decided to sit back and watch Toy Story which was just starting on the Disney Channel... The next thing we knew the credits were rolling, whoops. Ah well, we needed it obviously. We showered and got dressed and decided to go in search of food. It was still pouring it down so Sy left me at the front of the hotel and went to get the car, super hubby! The traffic outside of Disney was pretty horrendous, it was a weekend (Sunday) and it was Fathers day so I think it was all going against us, we eventually made it to the Lake Buena Vista outlets where we knew there was an Outback steakhouse... Unfortunately there was a hugemongous queue outside so we didn't even bother getting out the car. We had passed a Longhorns so we decided to go back there as it didn't look quite as bad. There was about 15 min wait so we grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered some drinks, just as we paid our buzzer went off - perfect timing.

We were seated and told our server would be with us shortly... They didn't however say that our server was a part-time Calvin Klein model* O.M.G. I have this thing, this stupid thing, that makes me get ever-so-slightly tongue tied around beautiful men, it's almost as if my tongue is too big and it goes very dry and sticks to the insides of my mouth... I have had to control this around my hubby, and by that I mean its worn off a bit now and I can speak normally as it's been 6 years Wink however around new men, it comes back with a vengeance. Luckily my husband swooped to my rescue and ordered for me while I stumbled over something that sounded remarkably like 'ierwaherchickenerwaaayeah'. Luckily my husband is well used to me by now Wink and didn't take the pee out of me for too long Wink hahaha!

*I have no evidence of this, but if he's not then he damn well should be.

Our food... Well we started with the yummy bread.

I then had -shock horror- chicken! In the form of tenders and accompanied with a loaded baked potato and cesaer salad.

Sy had the Outlaw Ribeye with a baked sweet potato and steamed broccoli.

Our food was sooooo good Smile I couldn't quite manage all of my chicken so I asked for a box to take the rest home with me (once I regained the use of my mouth/voice/tongue).

We paid the bill and headed back to the hotel. We actually managed to see some fireworks from our room. It was still thunderstorms and we took some epic videos of the lighting across the sky. I suddenly found my second wind and actually ate the rest of my chicken in bed Laughing out loud dirty stop out that I am Wink

We did debate going out again but as it was so wet we decided just to make the most of being in the gorgeous room and watched TV and just chilled out together, Sy even gave me a foot rub (I think he still felt sorry for me for the tongue tied incident haha). We then fell into a very deep and happy sleep Smile

Aww thank you for the love of my dresses Smile another friend (non Disney - well, yet!) said to me today how lovely my dresses are and she was looking at a maxi dress in the shop the other day and thinking of me Laughing out loud made my day Smile

I think the girls in TK know who holds the say so with the purse strings Wink our waitress was very attentive with us girls too, we obviously look like the girls in charge haha

What do you do for yor job/career? Does it involve writing? If not I think it should!
Looking forward to the next instalment.

awesome

My job doesn't involve writing but I will let you in on a secret, I am working on a novel and by working on I mean i'm still working on the plotline haha but I intend to make it into a chick-lit book and gonna cross all my fingers and toes that someone somewhere might read it and think it has potential! Thank you SO much for the compliment!

I've never noticed that Hidden Mickey in LwtL before! Is the "character bomb" like character palooza at DHS where the characters from the boat in Fantasmic come out and greet guests in the afternoon? I didn't know that they did this at EPCOT!

No pics of the CK model waiter?? Keeping him all for yourself, eh?? wink laugh

I love that you love LwtL because I thought I was the only one! It's so calm and peaceful and I love looking at the greenhouse and what they're growing. I've had friends tell me they only use it for the AC and a calm place. sarcastic

Yes it is sort of the same. They are called pop up characters that can appear in Future World and at the International Gateway as well. I have seen Tiana and Naveen along with Aurora by Figment in the past. Prince Eric and Ariel have also appeared along with Aurora and Phillip.

Day 4

We were awake early, I think it was around 7:15am that I set the alarm for... with good reason though, I wanted to go and see the Parasol Parade Laughing out loud I yelled and moaned at Sy to get a move on cause I didn't want to miss it, we only just made it in time to see it begin. It was so lovely Smile I can't really explain why I loved it so much, it was just one of the many little things that makes Disney special. There were hardly any people out to see it which was both a shame and nice at the same time, it felt like we were the only people watching Smile

We watched the parade for about 10 mins before it moved out of sight and then decided to head over to the Grand Floridian Cafe for some breakfast Laughing out loud

We were seated right away right down the end of the room by a window.

I already knew what I would be ordering, vanilla dipped french toast Smile along with a diet coke. Sy went for the American with OJ

Breakfast finished we popped back to the room to pick up a few things we hadn't managed to grab in our dash this morning. I also gave my mum a quick facetime to make her seriously jealous with the gorgeous blue sky overhead Wink

We then hopped in the car and made our way over to Hollywood Studios. We parked up and walked over, it was busy and it was hot, and I don't mean 'oh wow, I feel very warm so I better go stand in the shade for a bit' I mean 'OMG my shoes are melting and sticking to the floor!' kind of heat. We had a fastpass first thing for ToT so off we went, before I could chicken out... I'm not scared but the last time I went on it made me feel a bit sick and I haven't been on it since as I was too scared I'd feel sick again. I needn't have worried though, I was fine! I think the days of riding it continuously have now passed but I really enjoyed it and rekindled my love for it Laughing out loud yay!

Afterwards we had a good look in all of the shops nearby just for somewhere to escape the heat. We then made our way over to the Great Movie Ride. It wasn't the most comfortable ride I've ever had, we had to squeeze into a row that people had already got in and sat down on, and they weren't happy as seeing our 2 big butts coming along so they hardly moved up at all. So I sat between Sy who was squidged against the edge as much as he physically could and a woman who wasn't going to move over anymore than she had so my butt was touching hers (and no, she still didn't move over!). By the end of the ride I was so hot and bothered I just wanted a drink and to get outta there. I'm not really very good at being touched when I'm hot and sweaty (is anyone?) and cause I'm a big girl I get really uncomfortable that people will think 'urgh, this big fat girl was so sweaty and touching me' so I was feeling really icky after the the ride. Sy had the perfect cure for me though, he knew just where to take me to make me feel better... Starring rolls Wink A cold drink and a napoleon later I was feeling much more human Laughing out loud Sy got some sushi cause he loves it but I was happy with my cake Smile

I totally forgot to take a picture before I started de-constructing my cake... it kinda looks like a car crash now but it tasted good, take my word for it Wink

The cake did help my mood however I was still so hot and bothered that we decided to take a break and head back to the hotel for a lunchtime swim.

I felt so much better after my swim Smile It was coming up time for my massage at the Spa so I got changed and swapped swimsuits (as I didn't want to wear my wet one) and said goodbye to Sy. I took my time going over as I was still 15 minutes early (I wasn't told I could be as early as I liked). I checked in and was given a very minimal show round the spa and then left to get changed into my robe (5XL I was given!!) and given shoes that were too small. Moments later my therapist (Sarah) arrived to take me through to the treatment room. I lucked out getting this lady to do my treatment as she opened the spa at Aulani and she even used to own her own salon - she was very experienced. I was in pure heaven for 50 minutes Laughing out loud After the massage she brought me an antioxidant cube with passion fruit that was really yummy. I can't say enough good things about this lady, she was so lovely and very talented at what she does Smile

She showed me back to the relaxation room and said goodbye before letting me grab a picture of her for what I was intending to be a wonderful article on the WDWForGrownUps website...

I actually decided not to write it though as my experience was not that I saw other people had, I happened to see a girl being shown round and her experience was so far moved from what I had when I was shown round, she was shown round everything, given a drink, asked what size robe and shoes, told what she could use (there were brushes, combs, razors even!) I didn't know any of this as I wasn't told or shown any of it. I was actually really upset, why wasn't I worth that sort of showing round? I intended to speak to someone when checking out however it was the same girl and the same unhelpful manner continued, she was actually rude to me on check out and made me feel close to tears Sad I did write to Disney and it was followed up by a phone call in which I explained what happened and they said the girl would get some more training which I felt was what she needed. But I digress... I hung about in the spa for a while, reading my kindle on the heated lounger and had a soak in the spa pool, I didn't stay very long, it wasn't turning out to be the experience I had hoped for. I checked out and charged the massage to the room before heading back up to see Sy. He hadn't actually done anything or been anywhere like he thought he might, he just napped in the room haha. I told him of my experience and he wasn't very happy at all, it was meant to be a birthday present for me from him so I guess he felt a bit responsible, he wanted to go down and speak to them right away but I didn't want the drama and preferred to email them once I got home.

Here are a few pics of the inside of the Spa

Even though the spa experience wasn't great, I still booked to go back there in October with my mum and mother in law so don't let my experience put you off, I'd still go back but I'd make sure I was a bit more forthright with the staff if I felt they weren't doing what they should.

We got ready and drove over to Epcot to meet Ann-Marie after her shift finished as it was tonight that we would be taking her up to the Top of the World lounge. We parked up and made our way inside, were a little early to meet Ann-Marie so we went to ride Spaceship Earth Smile

We then made our way over to the UK pavilion to meet Ann-Marie. She had put in for an early finish and she thought it was 7pm however it was 7:30, doh! So we waited around for her to finish.

She told us to pop round the corner as there was likely no wait to meet Tigger and Pooh, and she was right, there was only 1 family in front of us!

When she was done we went to ride test track with our fastpasses, they took pity and let Ann-Marie ride with us even though she didn't technically have a fastpass Wink

We needed some dinner before fireworks at TOTWL so we left property and went to Fuds as Ann-Marie had never been there. There was a hefty queue but we soon had our orders in and grabbed a table to wait. The food wasn't as good as last time but to be fair I had a fried chicken instead of grilled this time, I think it was just a bit too much grease for me. The other enjoyed their meals though. We left and made our way up to Bay Lake, Sy dropped us off at the front and went to park so that we could get the ticket to go up to the lounge, it was getting close to firework time! We did make it up there in time though and it was perfect Smile

When the fireworks were over we took Ann-Marie home and made our way back to VGF. It was gonna be a sad morning tomorrow when check out time came Sad

I love that you think I would have been able to ask waiter man for a pic when I wasn't even able to order hahahaha I tried getting a sneaky one but he kept walking past too quick Wink I didn't know about the character palooza! Will have to hunt that out on our next trip...

Ah no! It's an awesome ride, I find it really interesting - though I think the end is a bit naff with the pics of peoples faces, it's like they went 'that'll do'.

We were told we had missed the queen of hearts that morning, I've never met her so I was a bit gutted about that one Sad

I feel like I've read the same story before about the spa... Didn't this happen to someone else on here? confused I am so sorry that happened to you. I hope you send them a letter.

Other than that I am totally loving your report. I just added GF to our ADRs (for dinner) I can't wait!

I think you may have read that story from me, I posted it in my highs and lows Wink

Gf is lovely, if you go for dinner make sure you go a bit early or plan to stay late and listen to the live music, it's just such a lovely atmosphere Smile

Same trip report???? I feel like everyone's reports run together! LOL I am really looking forward to the GF. I had tea there years ago at my friends bridal luncheon and I wasn't the foodie then that I am now (nor the picture taker) I can't wait to go back. It's been 12 years since I've been there.

Mmmmm, love the French toast at the GF cafe. I'll be having that again in a few weeks. biggrin

That sucks about your spa experience. I'm sure it will be much better in October.

Also, sorry to hear about your ex-friend. That's very petty of her to cancel all your ADRs, but happy that you were able to plan something much better! awesome

Day 5

We were up about 9am and in the spirit of wanting to stay in the room for as long as possible we decided to order room service breakfast Laughing out loud Sy placed the call and shortly we had a light breakfast delivered to the room. While we waited I packed our things up while Sy watched me, hmmm...

Our breakfast.

Even the butter had mickey's on!

Once we finished our breakfast we called bell services to pick up our bags and headed out to Typhoon Lagoon Laughing out loud

We were soon pulling into a VERY full car park, oh dear. I thought we were arriving shortly after opening however the park opened at 9am today, not 10 (like I'm used to when we come out of season). It was packed! We made our way inside and got changed. We managed to find 2 spare seats (not loungers!) and left our things there while we headed straight into the wave pool. We had fun messing about in the waves for a little bit. I love my underwater camera...

We then decided to go for a a laze around in the lazy river, we went round twice Smile

We then decided to head back into the wave pool for more wave fun Laughing out loud

I think this one I was telling Sy to wait there till the wave gets closer...

I'm pretty sure I 'forgot' to tell him that it was getting close Wink

Action shot Wink

After a while in the pool our tummies were rumbling... We did only have a light breakfast after all Wink I had received an email that morning from Outback offering a free starter to anyone who mentioned a word (which I could remember from the email, shockingly) so we decided rather than getting some mediocre fast food from TL we would head offsite and grab some lunch. We went to shower and change which is when I realised I had forgotten to bring underwear Shock Whoops! So we couldnt go right for lunch, we had to make a trip over to VGF for our bags (we thought we may as well pick them all up rather than have to head back there again after lunch).

Bags picked up, we headed to a very empty Outback along the 192 and were seated right away. Our server throughout the meal was nice enough but really wasn't that efficient. I finished my drink before she brought our mains and I didn't get a refill till after I had finished. She was no where to be seen or I would have asked before - where we were sat was on our own too so there were no servers coming past or I would have asked them. The food was good though Smile We started with Alice springs quesadilla (for free, bonus!) Then I had a chicken burger with loaded potato and Sy had steak and shrimp, at lunchtime. Yup. He did have the smallest steak possible but even so Wink

We paid our bill and made the sad trip back to our hotel along International Drive.

On return to our hotel I unpacked our things. I did notice our blind had been put up however the floor was still a bit minging :-/

Once our things were unpacked we had a lay down and watched some tv. Before we knew it we had both had a nap Wink we hopped back out of bed and got ready to head back out again, this time to Animal Kingdom Smile We kinda made a mistake having such a big lunch as we had an evening ADR at Yak & Yeti. Luckily we had the latest possible ADR so we had a little while before more food :S

We parked up inside AK and headed straight for Dinosaur where I had scored us Fastpasses Smile

Sorry this one is a bit blurred

I just can't get enough of Dinosaur, I think its a real untapped ride. People don't get how much fun it is Laughing out loud

Afterwards it was getting about time for food :-/ oh dear. I really wasn't feeling very hungry after our lunch but we went ahead anyway (we might have been tempted to cancel if they didn't have the new $10 per person charge). We did have a really good meal though. We were sat at almost the exact same as Jenny and I were sat at in March.

I decided to have the bourbon chicken again as it was so good last time, Sy went for the duck.

The real downside of the big lunch was that there was just no way I was going to be able to manage my favourite dessert, Mango Pie! Boooo! Sad

We got some erm, interesting fortunes in the cookies at the end...

Sy's...

Mine...

LOL

While at dinner we missed our fastpass for the Lion King Sad ah well, we are back in October so guess we will see it then Wink

We did however have fastpasses for Kali Rapids. We scanned our bands and walked up the queue line however we got about half way before I felt a bit dodgy. I shouldn't eat too much and today I had definitely eaten too much. We had to back track and find a bathroom sharpish, luckily we made it to the bathroom in the counter service yak and yeti seating area. Sy grabbed a seat and waited for me and then I came out to sit with him for a little bit till I was feeling more myself. A few mins later I was feeling up to trying Kali again so off we went, luckily the same people were at the front and after a quick explanation they let us through. Smile

We managed to ride twice as there was no queue whatsoever. I tried to take pictures and videos of us going down the big drop but the battery died just as we got to the top! Noooooooooooooo!!! Ah well, it was good, you will just have to take my word for it Wink

After our second go the ride was closed as the park was closing so we waddled out to the car, waddled partly due to how wet we were and partly due to how full we still were!

When we got back to the car I finally managed to grab a pic of it...

On the way back to the hotel we decided to pop into Walmart to get a few things to take home. Walmart was literally the opposite side of the I4 to our hotel...

We grabbed all we thought would fit into our cases, paid up and headed back to the hotel. We both showered and I washed my hair before falling into bed, still full of food Wink

When you say "big drop" on Kali, how big are we talking? We've never tried Kali but we have a FP for September. I didn't know about any big drop... eek
