It's a great show!
I also just caught up on the first week of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and it looks like that's going to be great too. These shows are like watching a movie in installments. They are shot so beautifully!

I was totally distracted emotionally the first episode so I need to watch it again to see if I will love it as much as once upon a time

Both series are great. They often leave me in shock once the episode ends.

I love this show! I even got my husband into it, he started watching the current season. He missed so much, and the character layouts intertwined so much, that I had to draw a diagram on who's related to who/with who, etc. But, now he's all caught up, and we watch it every week Smile

Yeah. I always want to see how it goes in the beginning because I was surprised when Mulan showed up! But it is Disney after all. However I am still curious to see if the sword in the stone reference continues. I was sooo surprised by that one! And Peter's shadow I was really shocked on too! It's very kingdom hearts in the retrospect!

I've got no problem what so ever if folks want to discuss Disney Television - I only ask that you try and place your threads into the correct forum. I'm moving this one over to "Disney Music, Movies & Media"

---------------

That being said I am a regular ONCE watcher! I can't say that I was thrilled with the implications they made about Mulan and Aurora at the end of this week's show. That was a little too big of a departure for me.

Wasn't Mulan in love with Prince Phillip?

That's what I was thinking and from the original, what about Captain Shang?

My understanding was Mulan was going to tell Prince Phillip that she loved him but wanted to let Aurora know first. When Aurora told her she was pregnant, that blindsided Mulan and ultimately stopped her from revealing her true feelings toward Phillip.

Mulan is in love with Aurora, not Phillip. When Aurora asked "Shall I get Phillip?" Mulan answered "No, that's unnecessary. It's you I wanted to talk to."
I was surprised too, because I thought they've always alluded to the fact that Mulan loved Phillip. In hindsight, her devotion to Phillip could be solely based on her love for Aurora. Aurora loves Phillip and Mulan loves Aurora, therefore Mulan won't let anything happen to Phillip because it would hurt Aurora.

There shouldn't be any backlash, but I'm sure there will be some people who are upset that the show made Mulan gay. The show has taken it's own direction on all the other characters, so why not make Mulan gay?

Hrmmm, the impression that my family came away with was that Mulan was on her way to tell Aurora that she was in love with her, but when Aurora announced the "big news" she decided not to. I mean would Mulan have really been that excited to tell Aurora that she was in love with Phillip? Regardless - it left Mulan crushed and headed off to join the Robin Hood without sharing what she felt in her heart.

That's what we thought too! Such a great twist, I've already figured that they're going to create new stories for the characters....I mean, look at Peter Pan! I think that's what got my husband interested, a lot of the characters have twists to their stories.

I took it the same way as you all did and it was surprising to me.
However, one of the things I love about this series is how they intertwine all of the characters - even those you wouldn't expect to be there.
It seemed pretty basic fairy tale in the beginning. When Mulan came, I thought, "HUH?!!!" But I quickly grew immersed in that story line and her character.

It seems like OUATIW is going to be the same way. Jafar consorting with the Queen of Hearts?!! It's very interesting. I can't wait to see where it goes.

I don't think she's the Queen of Hearts - I think she's the Red Queen isn't she?

Did anyone watch last Sunday's episode, "Ariel"? Thought Joanna Garcia was an excellent choice to play "Ariel". Kind of reminds me of Amy Adams. I was disappointed in the actor they chose for "Prince Eric". Didn't look anything like him. The actor who plays "Captain Hook/Killian Jones" looks more like "Prince Eric.

Did anyone think of this? Regina told Gold/Rumple that mermaids can travel b/w realms. With that in mind, do you think it was Ariel who helped Bae escape Neverland when he was younger (from there he ended up in NY)?

yes I saw the episode and I thought it was an interesting twist to the movie. First putting Ursula in good light and secondly King Triton not in existence right now. And I also agree that Joanna Garcia was a good choice and when I first saw her I thought she was Amy Adams!

And Captain Hook is one of my fav characters.

And yes it is quit possible that Ariel might of helped Bae escape Neverland.

I adore the OUAT Hook and I'm so glad that they are filling in his back story a bit. I'm not too sure what I thought about the Ariel episode storyline. I watched it twice now and twice I just though "Huh." I'm not thrilled with the direction of Snow being mad at Charming, the more of them as a couple I see the more I really don't like the characters. They both seem very selfish to me.

I agree with Kristen about Eric. He's cute but not what I had in mind for Eric. I love that they chose Joanna Garcia for Ariel. She's a perfect fit! I like the twist that they have so far for Ariel except Ariel losing Eric. They are one of my favorite couples from Disney and I really hope that they bring him back to be with Ariel. I'm very interested to see where this goes and how they get Charming off Neverland.

VelcroPooh

I didn't like the Eric either but I'm turning into a Hook fan! I'm so rooting for him instead of Neal. And I've never even liked Hook.

The whole "Pan" as a bad guy is messing with me. I mean, being mean to Wendy and threatening her life? Hard for me to swallow that storyline but I'm hoping it turns around.

My problem with Hook and Pan are that they are actually good looking. I hate it when the bad guys are cute. I want to hate them but I can't if they are good looking. I desperately want to like Pan because he's good looking and has a great smile.

VelcroPooh

His smile is great, but it's evil! (although for the storyline they are going with, he makes a really good meanie)

I have always been a sucker for a hot "bad boy with a good heart." Try as I do to want to like Charming - he annoys the heck out of me. I'm not fond of the whole Peter thing, but I think there must be something deeper that we're just not seeing. At least I hope that there is.
