Partly Cloudy

So for those who have seen "Up," I have to say I was particularly impressed with the opening short, "Partly Cloudy." I think all the Pixar shorts have been wonderful, but I thought that this one was particularly imaginative and compelling. What did you guys think?

I'm always amazed with how much emotion and story they can pack into a short, silent (i.e. no talking) film. I thought this was a really surprising little short--there was NO WAY I could have guessed the ending.

It was my favorite one to date too. I found it very creative and well done. It also boasted, as Bali alluded to, a neat little twist at the end.

I think it's great just how creative the premises are. One wonders where they come up with such unusual ideas. I can't imagine the thought process that leads you to that setup.

I just LOVED this. I recently saw that it was available on itunes, so I might have to download it!

I'm sure it will be on the "Up" DVD, which I'm guessing will wind up in my collection.

Interesting -- Caitie and I were talking about it afterwards. We, of course, have many many Disney/Pixar movies, but one thing we both felt Up lacked was that rewatchability factor, simply because the movie is SO sad. How often do you throw in a movie to watch that's going to make you cry within 15 minutes of putting it on?

It's definitely not "the Incredibles" in that respect. Of course I think some of the other movies are not completely re-watchable either, but are still great movies that you might want to watch every so often. Besides I never watch DVDs I buy anyway. If the same movie comes on TV I'll watch it, even though I have the DVD, but nothing ever spurs you to watch the DVD you have handy. I think I buy them mainly so I can loan them to friends.
