Planning birthday celebration in DW

Hi,
I will be in Disney World with my boyfriend in November, about a week before his birthday. Our favorite restaurant is Tusker House so I want to do something special for his birthday there. I've read about restaurants providing birthday cupcakes and maybe a birthday tablecloth, and birthday card for the guest etc. I've heard you can request this in your online reservation but we already made our reservations online and I don't want him to know about it ahead of time.

Has anyone had experience with this? Can I call Disney and ask them to put it in our reservation (hopefully it won't show in our account online) or should I just pull our server or hostess aside the day of our reservation and ask for the birthday stuff?

Thanks!

My celebrations all show on my online reservations from wht I remember looking at last night, at least the ones disney added over the phone. They were having trouble with reservations when I logged on last night so I will double check for you about the ones I know I added myself.

I would call and have his birthday added to the ADR, then make sure when you arrive that the server or hostess knows what's going on.

I agree -- call ahead and have the birthday added to the reservation, then let them know about the birthday at check-in and also let your server know. Birthdays at some restaurants can be hit or miss, so the more people who know about it, the better chance you'll have of getting a celebration! stars

Thanks everyone! My main issue is making it a surprise. He has access to our Disney World account so if he checks our reservations online, he'll see it. I guess I'll call DW and ask for advice. Maybe if anything, I can just ask the hostess the day of. I'm sure they can bring over a cupcake on the fly. yay

I remember on ours it would only say "birthday celebration" or "celebrating anniversary" or something like that , but that would be on every reservation, because when we called and booked they asked if we were celebrating anything on the trip. That shouldn't tip him off, but if he asks , just say they asked if you were celebrating anything on the trip.

It shouldn't be to hard for them to do on the fly either if you want to just tip off your server. I'm pretty sure they've got a stockpile of extra birthday cupcakes in all the party coolers mickey

I agree with Kristen. I would let your server (secretly) know that it is a birthday celebration. They should be able to make you meal extra special. How fun!

Thanks everyone! I called Disney and the person put in a note with the reservation that it was a surprise celebration. I've checked our dining reservations online in our account and nothing shows. Either way, I am going to remind the server/hostess about it after we've been seated since I've heard things can get lost in the shuffle with stuff like this.
