Resort With The Least Walking?

We were talking about how much walking is at Saratoga Springs, so what are the best and worst resorts for those who have trouble with a lot of walking.

Deluxe resorts, because they're all enclosed and usually built "up" instead of "out," offer the opportunity for the least walking. Moderates and values are made up of several buildings, and therefore you'll need to trek a lot farther to get to the lobby, food, and shopping. (On the other hand, moderates and values allow you to park right outside your room; sometimes your deluxe room can be a trek from the bus stop or parking lot.)

If you're going for a moderate, POFQ has the least walking as it has the smallest footprint. I'm not certain on the values.

Again--room location will make a big difference in how far you walk in deluxes, so request a room close to the lobby if you want to lower your mile count!

I think that's a good point that room location has a lot to do with it. I've stayed in moderates with a bus stop right outside and in deluxes where I had to walk a quarter of a mile to get to the lobby.

I've always thought that CSR and the moderates are best for seniors because they allow you park so much nearer to your room.

Contemporary Tower, probably. (IMHO)

All of your guest amenities are under one roof, as is the monorail which will get you to Magic Kingdom and with one change, Epcot. Bus service is also close to the downstairs door at the Tower.

You could also argue that the Poly and GF are similar. The Poly has detached guest rooms, but if you stayed at the closest building to the Ceremonial House, you'd even be closer to food and transportation than you'd be at the Contemporary.

Somebody jar my memory. Are there any actual rooms in the main building at the Grand Floridian? Every time we've stayed there we've had to walk halfway to Tampa to get to the monorail.

Contemporary Tower is a really good suggestion. I've never stayed but there are at least SOME rooms where you can practically take an elevator to the monorail. That's perfect for people who have a limited amount of walking in them each day. Great suggestion.

Those Animal Kingdom Lodge hallways can be torture when your legs are tired!

Boardwalk as well. I think that was the resort that finally convinced me to try valet once too, it's so far from the parking lots!

Hi,

I hope the day never comes when I can't walk. Because I'm unable to drive, my legs are my wheels.

The values are all pretty huge. Pop Century currently has 2,880 rooms in ten four-story buildings (72 rooms on each floor) numbered 0 through 9. The All Stars each have 1,920 rooms in ten three-story buildings (64 rooms per floor). It can be a half-mile to three quarter mile hike from the most remote rooms to the check-in buildings.

Disney Magic actually weighs more per unit volume than muscle or fat. It's all the goodness you're taking home with you!

I would say the Deluxes have the advantage of valet, but I still think you can get closer at a moderate from the parking lot than many of the Deluxe rooms.
