Sales Update on DVC plus Free $25 Gift Card

We received an offer in the mail from Disney to call the DVC Sales Department, listen to a 10 minute phone call "tour" and they would send us a free $25 Disney Gift Card. So I called the phone number (no code or offer number was enclosed) and she said "oh you must have an upcoming reservations". She located the reservation and transferred me to the sales department.

I had a very nice, no pressure salesman who answered my questions. There were a few things I thought I would share in case it would interest anyone.

He said the Grand Floridian was already 50% sold.

He said they had received an email that they expect Animal Kingdom to be sold out in the next 3 months.

I asked about the Poly and he said they have no information. He said they have asked Disney to offer them press releases before they announce things to the public, such as with the Poly, however Disney did not offer them any information. He said they only know what we know, which is what has been released in the papers or online. He said he has received multiple calls from people wishing to buy into the Poly but they don't know when they will be able to start selling, the cost or any details.

He also said they are getting to the point where (other than the Poly) they are going to have nothing to sell in Florida as it is all getting maxed out. He said they have Alunai available in Hawaii but it is very hard for him to sell from Florida.

Of course, he is a salesman, so I take this all with a grain of salt.................although there was no high pressure sales tactics or buy now or you might not have a chance, it still creates a sense of urgency that all these resorts are selling out NOW. eek

He did seem honest about saying that the DVD points are not good for Disney Adventures and a few other points he made seemed consistent with what I have learned from my Disney family here.

Take this for what its worth >>>

Did you mean dvc points are not good for Disney Adventures?

You said dvd points lol

what do you mean they aren't good for the Disney Adventures? We were told that we could use them there as well. Is this no longer true?

sorry for the confusion! What I meant was Yes, you can use the DVC Points for Disney Adventures. However, they are not a good value for your money so to speak. When you use DVC Points to reserve a room at a resort, the points are for the room, not per person. So if it costs 160 points for a room and the room holds 4 people, that's a good value. However, for Disney Adventures and Disney Cruise line, it might be 160 points Per PERSON, not per cabin. So it would take a lot more points for a week on the cruise then a week in a resort. Hope this makes more sense mickey

I also asked if you could use a combination of points and cash for Disney Adventures or Disney Cruise Line. He said no, if I wanted to go on a Disney Adventure, I had to have enough points to cover my whole vacation.

He did say if Amy and I went on a cruise, as long as one of us were completely covered by DVC points, the other person in the cabin could completely pay cash for their ticket.

Oh okay. I was like, that's my selling point to get guests interested in DVC. Along with the free ice cream and instant fastpasses.
