Spook's November 8-22 Pre-trip Report

We are heading to the World in November! It will be our first time going for 2 weeks (we usually only go for one). Can't wait yay
We have most of the first week planned out and then plan on just taking it easy and doing whatever for the rest of the trip. We're not big ADR people as we don't really like always having to be somewhere at a certain time but we did make 2 reservations and may make a third one later on. We are staying at the All Star Movies resort and running the Wine and Dine Half Marathon. It will be our first ever half and only second race (we did the 5K last year at Wine and Dine). We've been training for awhile now so we should be good to go awesome Here's our plan so far:
Nov 8- Land in Orlando around 1:20PM, take Magical Express to our resort and grab a quick bite to eat before heading over to the Wide World of Sports for the expo to pick up our race packets. After wandering around the expo for a bit we'll return to the resort, grab a pizza and call it a day.

Nov 9- Get up for EMH at Hollywood studios, have lunch there and then head back to the resort for a nap and rest. Get ready for the Half (race starts at 10:00PM), finish the race (hopefully laugh ) and check out the afterparty at Epcot.

Nov 10- Sleep in! Then head back to Epcot. We have a dinner ADR at Garden Grill.

Nov 11- Get up at stupid o'clock (I love that saying laugh ) to be at MK for 7:15am. We are doing the Magic Behind the Steam Trains tour. Since we'll be there so early we'll probably leave in the afternoon for a nap and then head somewhere else for the night since there is a MVMCP that night. We thought about doing that too but we've been a few times and decided to do the train tour instead.

Nov 12- Up early again (not as early though) for breakfast ADR at Cape May Cafe for 10:00AM. It will be our first time there mickey We might make this a non park day and spend more time at the Boardwalk. We might rent bikes or something.

Thats all the firm plans we have for now. We plan on doing all the parks several times (we have a 10 day pass), DTD, Disney Quest and Blizzard Beach. I have a notebook with snacks I want to try (thanks DFB biggrin ) and we plan on eating at some quick service places we haven't tried before. Here's where we'd like to try
AK- Flame Tree BBQ, Yak and Yeti CS
HS- Fairfax Fare, Studio Catering Co, Starring Rolls
Epcot- La Catina de San Angel, Tangierine Cafe
MK- Sleepy Hollow, Pinocchio Village Haus
DTD- Earl of Sandwich, Ghirardelli, Wolfgang Puck Express
and also Captain Cooks at the Poly
Any thoughts on these place or others we should try?

Also, how do you recommend getting to the Boardwalk or the Beach Club Resort to be more specific? We've only been to the Boardwalk once and that was from World Showcase in Epcot. We don't want to enter a park first in case we make it a non park day.
And does anyone know how early buses run from the Resorts to the parks? We have to be a MK by 7:15am for the train tour and we won't have a car so I'm wondering if we'll have to take a cab.

Oh and the third ADR we are thinking about making is lunch at Sanaa. It doesn't seem like it's too crazy of a place so we're going to just try and book a reservation while we're there if we decide to go Smile
One other thing we might do is a DVC tour. We have no intention of buying at the moment but would like to see what it's all about and possibly start saving now.

Looks good Spook. You might get into Sanaa without an ADR. We just walked in on a June trip and got 7 of us in. That was a few years ago though. Captain Cooks is great, try the Adult grilled cheese platter. Could "Welcome Home" be in your future?

You are going to love the Steam Train Tour! Its really fun and very interesting! The early buses don't start running until 7:00 AM so you may want to take a cab just to be on the safe side!

You can take a bus to DHS and then, without entering the park, hop a boat to BC or BW.

We bought a resale, so we still have not done the tour. I would really like to do it though. Have fun with it!

We are doing the train tour as well. We were advised to get a cab and go to the Contempory and then walk over to MK. I wondered whether there would be the bus for Cindy's Royal Table, will wait until we get out there and then think about it.

Sounds like a great trip! I'm super jealous you have a whole second week to take it easy...I really need to start planning for this in our trips, too. WDWfanatic is right, if you take a bus to DHS you can head over to the boat dock before the entrance and take a boat right to the Boardwalk. If you want to walk, you can still take a bus to DHS and right by the bus drop off, before the lake, there is a walking path to the Boardwalk, as well. Have a great time!

Shoooooooooooooot! I forgot about the MVMCP on the 11th and I booked the Brown Derby for that night!

Okay...maybe Derby for lunch? Or maybe just QS/open TS at the MVMCP that night? Do the restaurants stay open?

I try to do one of the MK resort TS restaurants before the party. An early dinner, so that we are still able to get into the park before 7pm. But not Ohana, that gets its own night, for good Wishes viewing. biggrin

Whoo hooo! What a trip! Two weeks will be amazing!

I think that the buses generally start running an hour before the Park opens. I have always taken a taxi over to Boardwalk. I highly recommend Sanaa for lunch!

And thanks for the tip about taking the taxi to the Contemporary. What taxi company do you recommend? I was reading that Mears was the main one.

Spook al you have to do s call your front desk and tell them you need a taxi and they have specific ones they use at the resorts. I know the deluxe resorts have taxi's out side pretty much all the time waiting for a fare. It cost us about $20 from the Yacht Club to the Poly.

Some of the restaurants stay open....I know we stopped by Sleepy Hallow pretty late and it was still open and the Lunching Pad was still open when we were riding Astro Orbiter after close. I couldn't find it on their site now, but last year they had a brochure online that showed all the restaurants, rides, and trick or treat trails that were going to be open so maybe they'll post that again as it gets closer to the party.
