Starbucks is coming the Disney Parks!
So exciting!
COME ON SNACK CREDITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hrmmmm... I wonder if that will happen. I think it depends on who really has more control, Disney or Starbucks.
I was also wondering whose employees the baristas will be. Both are so strongly branded and have so much control over how the employees look and act, it will be interesting to see how they blend together.
The more I think about it the more it makes sense to me that it took so long.
It does say they will be stocking Disney stuff as well. I would say this is a partnership on the lines of Rainforest Cafe and the likes.
Disney needed better coffee!
That's the understatement of the year. I don't think it needed to be Starbucks, but I do love their holiday drinks. Though I will be interested to see how Starbucks and Disney work together.

I assume they're going to get together to make the world's most expensive cup of coffee.

Bahahahaha!
I am a HUGE Starbucks fan...but honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about this. I welcome them on property, but I don't think they need to be in the parks.
My husband (who is also a Store manager for the buck) and I are seriously going to look into applying. If it's a company operated store we can apply for a transfer if it's owned by Disney we are sending our resumes.

I was wondering if you would when I read this. Keep us posted.

I will. I'm contacting HR tomorrow. we have been thinking about moving somewhere else for a couple years and this could be awesome!
Let's hear it for world domination!
And . . . I'd just like to place an advance order for my breve latte!
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

I'm not a coffee drinker so I'm not really concerned one way or the other. I'm sure if you can get a coffee for a snack credit people will be happy.

I'm not worried at all about Starbucks in the parks, as a coffee snob, I welcome this.
For those that are concerned consider this. Disney Parks foods have had corporate sponsors since the beginning, Coke, Carnation, Nestle (the previous coffee sponsor), Stouffers, Barilla, Kraft, and Dole just to name a few. All of them are in the parks and all of them have their own corporate branding in their select locations. Personally, I don't think that bringing in Starbucks will be any different.
Just read an article on Foxnews.com about Starbucks and Disney. The article goes into some detail on the signage and theme-ing of the cafe's including how the staff will be dressed.
I'd post the link, but I'm not sure of the legalities.
I don't have a problem with them being in the parks. They just need to get some regular good coffee in the parks and the resorts, but Kona would be good everywhere! Anything other then Nescafe', YUCK!

At the end of the game, pawns and kings go back into the same box.

I was never really into DD coffee until lately. We just had them put another one in right down the street from work and I got some K-cups for our Keurig. Thats good, I'd settle for DD coffee.

Tikiman Pages / Mrhubs Disney FaceBook PageI would much rather have Dunkin Donuts coffee over Starbucks if I just want coffee. I do like Starbucks specialty drinks though. It will be interesting to see if they do qualify as snacks. They are already expensive so I am thinking if they are more at Disney odds are they will be over the snack credit amount.

You are absolutely correct. Coke is a HUGE one and I think a perfect example of a company and Disney coexisting together. I know Starbucks is a bit different, but I am so looking forward to this!
There was a message for all partners today on our employee only website about the partnership. I will re-read it tomorrow and summarize it for you all.

Right. I'm well aware of that and totally get that. I think the difference here for me (and I'm both a former CM and Barista
) is that this is more than just a corporate sponsorship. Sbux has a very unique culture and approach to doing things. In some ways, it's very similar to Disney, in other ways, it's drastically different. This is more than them just running a restaurant or paying for an attraction. Ex: when I was training at Sbux, I said to one of the partners, "I wish we wore nametags. I think it would go a long way to building relationship with customers." She replied with an overzealous dose of disdain that she thought nametags were stupid - and I quote - "This isn't Disney. I don't want people knowing my name."
I think it's because when I want Starbucks, I want Starbucks - not "Starbucks coffee proudly made and served here by someone else." I've passed up "Starbucks" because it was actually a store run by someone else. If I'm not mistaken, the Starbucks at CityWalk is an example of this. Sbux is a happy place for me, just like Disney is. If I had to analyze it, I think it's kind of like two suns sharing the same sky. This probably sounds pretty funny. Maybe I'll make more sense after I finish this here Starbucks quad grande Americano that I'm drinking
Bottom line: if Starbucks is coming to anyplace on Disney property, which means that two of my favorite brands are finally partnering, I am a happy camper.

No, I get... as a former Coffee Master I'm really interested in seeing how the two integrate their cultures. I get a little uneasy when our local store barista's get to wear red white and blue on the 4th of July. The uniform is off and I get confused. LOL! Disney said that the Carthay Circle store the baristas will have 1920's costumes, I think that's so cool. I have to wonder if they're still going to look like baristas to me though!
This sounds to me like Disney is doing more than just licensing stores though. We call those "fake Starbucks" at our house, we have them at the book store and at the rest stops on the highway. They're great when we have no choice, but I'd rather go to a corporate owned spot. I think this has had to be a very carefully managed collaboration. However, now that I'm thinking about it, a "proudly brewed" pot of Starbucks coffee is better than Nescafe' to me any day. We brew Starbucks Sumatra at home most of the time, so that's what generally tastes "right" to me. When we go to SBUX what I drink depends on what's brewing. I HATE Pikes Place, and House give me a stomach ache every time. If that's all that's brewed then I'm a Quad Grande Americano w/cream drinker.
Interesting side note. Up here some of the stores have names embroidered onto the aprons, I love this touch!
