Tipping the bus drivers

While we always look the daily driver in the eye and thank him/her for driving us, we don't tip them. HOWEVER, two trips a go we did see people tipping the drivers for DME, especially loading and unloading the luggage. So last time we tipped $5 each way. Is that about right?

That's what we tipped last trip I'm pretty sure. It was no more than that anyway.
I don't think the daily bus drivers accept tips. I'm not 100% on that though. I've never seen anyone tip them before.

We didn't tip the DME driver. I feel fairly different than most about tipping though...It annoys me when they have a "tip" jar or can. Don't fish for tips people. If you feel underpaid, apply for a different job. That's just my personal opinion. Bell hops are different though!

The rule is tip anyone who touches your suitcase. But you've inspired me. I will tip a regular Disney transport driver next trip. I like the guys who give trivia and stuff.

I do tip the DME driver $5 - $10 depending on how many people I'm traveling with.

We usually tip the ME coach driver $5.00 for handling the 2 carry-ons that we have going to or from the airport.

Thank you. I have never seen a "tip jar" or "tip can" but i do appreciate the man/woman who are shlepping my luggage in and out. The daily drivers, as I have noted, we always make a point to look them directly (they don't always look at us) and say "Thank you for the drive." I am tickled when I see them look at us surprised, because I don't think they are often thanked. Senseicj, I have seen grumpy people (including myself) feel better with a simply expression of gratitude. Isn't that part of the Disney Magic too? I am always happy there, even when I am tired, so I just plan to spread the joy.

Thanks all for the input, I plan to stay with the $5 each way with a BIG smile. biggrin

The Disney Transportation drivers can't take tips. You can give them a recognition by stopping by the information both at the park.

Are you referring to the daily people? Because I have seen A LOt of rolled bills being handed to DME drivers as they hand off the luggage, and not just on one trip.

DME drivers do NOT work for Disney, they work for Mears Trans. and you will notice a sign next to their name on the front of the coach that says 'Tips appreciated for exceptional service'
Disney Transportation route bus drivers on the other hand work for Disney and are not supposed to accept tips.
