I have heard some of you talk about transportation to IOA from Disney. Is there something we can sign up for or reserve?? Or can we take a cab? We are not going to have a vehicle and wondering how easy it will be to get from Disney to IOA...

Great ideas above, and you CAN take a cab as well. Just have them call you one from any Deluxe resort.
thanks a ton!
we rented a car for the day. There's a transportation center with an Alamo rental place by the swan/dolphin. It was $36 for the entire day. It was nice because we were able to make some more stops on the way back. We went to the outlet mall and stopped at a grocery store to get some caffeine.=)

Wow - that's a really neat idea! I also noticed some rental car desks in the lobbies of the Downtown Disney hotels the last time I was in there...can't remember which hotel, though.
actually. ed surprised me and upgraded to a convertible. but that was still only $56. The baseline price for an economy car was 36 and since we only drove to US/IOA and back. We barely used any gas so it's not like we had to fill the whole tank. It was probably the most economical way of doing it for us. There is a bus that will pick you up from your resorts but we wanted to leave super early to get breakfast off property and get some coffee and stuff. So we called a cab, it was $6+tip from POR to Alamo and then we took the free shuttle +tip back to the resort.
thanks everybody =) We are going a few days early to see family so instead of turing the rental in Sunday when we check in at Disney we are going to keep it until we go to Universal... I figure that way we would have more freedom and its only $30 or so more...

Has anyone ever used this company? How was it?

I'm not sure if I wanted to go through the time and hassle to rent a car. Paying to get to the rental agency, signing all the papers, getting it back in time. missing park time and a taxi back to the resort. Am I making more of this then it really is or has anyone had better luck with renting? I hear it is about the same price as Mears. I thought there and back real fast with a service or is the shuttle more difficult then I think it is??
I will look into rentals and parking.
Well it sounds like honeymoonin had a pretty easy tiem of it so, yeah, you might be making more of it then it really is. We drive our own car, but I haven't heard any horror stories about people getting rentals on Disney property. I think there are some that will even drop the car off at your resort and pick it up. I would check that though to see if they still do that.

Could work out great, depending!
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Yes Ollie, our kids used them and had no problem.

Fantastic! I actually needed that information though kept forgetting. I assume that if you're dropping a car off there that they'll take you back to the hotel too.
So, I guess no one has used http://destinationsinflorida.com/216-2/

We did on our trip and it was great! I called the night before to set up our pick up time. In the morning there were so few of us we had a small shuttle but everyone was super nice and was on time.
For the return trip they say you should call 2 hours in advance for pick up but when we called they had set times that we could choose from, which was fine too. After dinner we had a little time to walk around before heading to the bus area (super easy to find) and our driver was outside the bus and super friendly, he was making sure everyone on his route made it. He was so entertaining too!!
It was really great to not have to worry about anything... Pick up right at your hotel and dropped off right back at your hotel. If we did this again I would for use use this way.
