Trying to book or first Disneyland visit, when is spring break?

Hello all!

So we have booked a wedding date! as you know I proposed in disneyland paris and we are both big disney nerds. We have a light disney theme running through our wedding but most of it wont be apparent to non-fans.

We do plan how ever in honeymooning in DisneyLand and Californian, we have both never been. It was a toss up between the US and Tokyo but I don't want disneysea to blow my mind that when I finally get to disneyland its lame, plus we will probably wait for shanghai to open and go tokyo, hong kong and shanghai in one long trip. I have a feeling disney will cruise that location at some point so guest can do all 3 locations.... anyway

We are thinking of booking California I need some advice though:

we planned to leave the day after or wedding and be traditional, that would be the 22nd of march 2015 for 14 days

so, when is spring break? are there other US holidays to think about? how long do we need at disneyland?

Congratulations stars and btw, I am pretty sure that spring break is finished (Feb, Mar, and maybe early Apr) for most if not all stateside Universities. Now wrt where, I would pick California vs. Japan because of cost. My understanding is that everything is very expensive over there.

Disney does have the Wedding Pavilion that could assist with your themed magical day.

Again, congratulations and best of luck. mickey

College Spring Break is in March. Public school spring breaks tend to fall on/around Easter. It may be crowded around that time. You'll have to look and see what date Easter falls on next year.

14 days at DL seems like a lot to me. I would think you wouldn't need anymore than 4/5 days at DL.

I would take several days and drive up the Pacific coast and visit Napa Valley. Very romantic!

The month of March is Music in our Schools month so Disney invites HS bands and choirs from all over to perform in Epcot, MK, and the new performing area in DTD. Every day up to 10 performances are given, which is actually pretty cool. My DH and his partner in crime, the band directo,r have taken band and choir there for 8 trips all in March, every four years. The kids have a blast, they put on pretty darn good performances (Disney sound system techs are awesome) BUT then they are given free park tickets and meal tickets for two days. You can identify them in two ways:

1.When not together, there are usually groups of young high school aged girls with bandaids on their feet and carrying their new flip flops in their hands. (Yes, they have been warned .....repeatedly about breaking in new shoes) waiting
OR
2. A large parade of them following something fairly tall and not a stick with a flag. Usually, my DH is one they can all see and he will wear a bright hat or another year, our youngest son bought a FEZ and at almost 6'6" them with Fez (along with 6 good friends) they lead the parade..... Hat Another year it was light sabres. One can only imagine the garage sales in our area, can't you????

Just be prepared for them through out March.

Easter next year is Sunday, April 5, so you might encounter heavier crowds the last few days you are there. There will be some colleges, and possibly elementary and HS on spring break during your trip. With Easter being much earlier than it was this year, some people like to combine their spring break with Easter time vacation, which could make the parks more crowded during your trip.

LOL! Britain is confusing, too. We booked our very first WDW trip in late October of 2005 thinking the crowds would be low, only to discover the parks full of British families because your kids get a whole week's holiday from school in October.

I think regarding Spring Break, you treat it just like you were visiting Disney World so March through mid-April is a good rough estimate of when it is. Easter is usually between late-March to mid-April and that always changes every year so that's probably where the crowds will be at its highest during Spring Break.

I have some links if people are interested in seeing all the dates of those major national and religious holidays for planning their trips. You just never know how crowded the parks may be for Rosh Hasannah and Yom Kippur, religious holidays where some schools get the day off.

Sorry, they/HS music groups also perform at two venues at DL as well.
