Very Last Minute Anniversary Trip (Returning After A Long Lurk)

Hi Folks!

So I went M.I.A for quite a bit, but I was still here as a reader on and off. To Be Honest, after my last trip in December 2012, I had such Disney World Withdrawal I couldn't even handle writing my trip report.

Well, we all know the cure for DWW is ANOTHER TRIP. However, this one kind of evolved in literally less than a week.

So, my boyfriend and I have our 1-year anniversary trip coming up this Sunday. The original plan was a week long visit to my family in Orlando and Naples. But my scheming brain so an opportunity....we decided on an ADR to Jiko for Sunday night. And that's it. That would be our little Disney fix.

Well then, the wheels in my mind were whirring, and I tell the Boyfriend that if we want...ahem....privacy on our Anniversary Night, we might as well book a night at a resort. Just one night.

THEN when actually booking our flights, we got a fantastic deal on a flight down on Saturday Morning....so we added another night to our little getaway.

THEN my very generous sister offered up some of her main-gate passes to us. BUT since MK is blacked-out this time of year, we decided to also purchase passes to go to MK.

So....our one little anniversary dinner has transformed into a mini-getaway for our anniversary weekend. It will be short but sweet I'm sure. mickey

The true irony (am I using this right? I'm only a math teacher!) is since we are now staying 2 nights, we added the dining plan and decided Jiko was not worth the cost, so changed our actual anniversary Dinner to an old favorite, Les Chefs de France. We also have an ADR at Kouzzina. We ate there last trip and loved it. We plan on QS lunches at Wolfgang Puck and Pecos Bills Tangerine Cafe for Shwarma Platters. Breakfast at Captain Cooks (TONGA FREAKING TOAST). Pastries from Starring Rolls, and the place in France. Salted Caramel from Karamel Kuche. Mickey Bars. Ice Cream Sammies. Hot Dogs.

Ok so my world revolves around food hahahahha. Also I'm hungry. LOL.

When I say this trip was last minute, I mean we bought the flight Friday, booked our room Saturday, and added the Dining Plan and Magical Express on Monday. I'm worried about the Mickey Mail, but the nice CM over at Travel told me to call on Wednesday and inquire about what to do if we haven't received our luggage tags yet. I mean, we can't be the only rubes who book trips with just a week to spare, right? awesome

Anyway, a summary of our trip details:

Saturday, June 20th:

Flight from Wilmington, DE arrives at 10:30 am

Board DME to Port Orleans Riverside

Putz around Downtown Disney and the pool

ADR for Dinner at Kouzzina!

Sunday June 21st:

Main-gate pass day. Park Hop between AK, HS, and Epcot COMMANDO STYLE hitting all the big rides and yummy snacks.

ADR for Dinner at Les Chefs de France

Monday June 22nd:

MK Day. Really no plans beyond that. Maybe dinner at Beaches and Cream(?)

Rest of the week will be spent at my Aunt's place in Naples, chillin on the BEACH, eating home-cooked Greek food, soaking up rays, and really recharging my batteries before the school year begins.

Anyway, I am planning on being a more dedicated poster. Planning being the operative word. Either way I love reading these boards....no matter how jealous I get lol.

So wait a minute. Let me get this straight. You're going THIS WEEKEND?! GAH I'm so jealous! I want to do a spur of the moment Disney trip so hard! (BTW, your daily details say June. Dear God, please tell me we didn't skip back to June!!! eek eek eek )

Have a great anniversary trip! It sounds heavenly and I do hope you come back to tell us all about it when you return!

THANK YOU FOR THAT ERROR POINT OUT! Lol....

My brain is asleep apparently.

But yes, we are going this weekend. I keep getting Trip-it emails about packing. I have to finish up Summer School this week first. Blech.

We count ourselves lucky to make such last minute trips....or any trips at all. A combination of very comfortable salaries, no kids, and a sister who is a CM allows us to do this. We are always grateful for our circumstances.

That said.....WHOOOO HOOOO!!!!! yay

I think that Post-vacation therapy groups is a fantastic idea.

Also you can get Tonga Toast for about $9 cheaper....just remember to ask for strawberry compote with it!!!!

Isn't it fun to find out stuff like that? I discovered that I can get the identical salmon, couscous and broccoli dish that Liberty Tree serves at Columbia Harbour House - a fact that contributed to me canceling a lunch ressie there. I also cancelled a Yak & Yeti when I found out that the Mandarin Chicken Salad is about the same as the QS version outside. Cool!

But sometimes I do just want to sit down inside, away from the hustle and bustle, heat, rain, or whatever, and have a nice quiet meal. That is worth the tip, and the extra cost. And Disney restaurants offer more than just food - they have such interesting atmosphere! They are an attraction all by themselves. awesome

I agree about just chillin' at a nice meal for sure....but sometimes you just want the cheaper, quicker, but just as tasty option!

I figured........we're only hitting the parks 2 days and it's gonna be full on commando style, Tour Groups be darned!!! LOL!!!!!!!

Seriously though, a few years back I did a commando style tour of all 4 parks in one day and hit all the "big" rides, plus a shwarma platter in Tangerine Cafe.....it was July and we really just busted it out. Oh to be that young and energetic again.
