Question for Admin...

Is there anything being done about the spam attacks on this site? It seems to be getting worse, 3 pages of junk this morning. The mods are doing a good job of deleting them, but it must seem like a futile task I would imagine. You can only play whack-a-mole to a certain point. Are there any plans to upgrade the forum software or move to a different platform?

While I'm not Admin, I can answer this question.

Admin and I have been having an ongoing discussion regarding upgrading the Walt Disney World for Grown-ups site which has included the possibility of moving to a new platform. As with any major systems changes, there are a number of components which need to be in place for that to happen. While we continue to work towards this goal, we are not quite there at this time.

The spam problem is being handled in the best way that we can for the moment, the moderators and I put several man hours in daily to achieve its quick removal. Unfortunately users see more of it than we would like. Users are always welcome to send me a private message to alert me to floods of spam. My messages are set to send me an email alert, so it gets to me fairly quickly and I can respond promptly.

Thanks, Kristen. I'm glad to hear a possible upgrade is in the works. I can only imagine how frustrating it is to have to constantly be chasing the spam. Hopefully an upgrade or move to new platform will make things better for all.

I do realize the mods and yourself work tirelessly at keeping thing clean and it's greatly appreciated.

Also - I really am OK with people sending me private messages. That gets seen much faster than using the contact button on the navigation bar. I'm on call 8am - 10pm central every day for any site related problems. I may not be next to the computer for that entire time, but I will get to one as fast as possible. I want folks to have the best experience possible here.
