WDWFG Superlatives: Best Way to Beat the Heat
i usually make it a policy not to be in the park at the hottest part of the day.
I advocate just getting out of the heat altogether. Go back for a swim!

I usually go back also, but I have to say, those spray bottles are FANTASTIC!
Zipadeedoodah -- yeah, man
Mid day is also a good time to do a monorail loop and visit all the resorts on it, OR hop on bus to somewhere. Most of those busses have GOOD AC!!

Mid day = Nap
Mid day = Nap![]()
I usually leave the parks mid-day as well, but with all that ice cream around you have to get some to cool off...even if it's cool.

Yeah, I figured ice cream would be my FIRST try, and then maybe I'd go home for a nap if that didn't work.
I believe in using a combination: go at ropedrop and then take a break mid-day, dressing in light colors, drinking a lot of water, eating ice cream, and using a mini mister fan....not the big spray bottles but a tiny little battery fan with a squirt. Of course, I still sweat profusely.....I voted for going back to the resort mid-day.....

Light clothes is a GREAT tip!
I went back to my resort mid-day to hide from the heat, either in the pool or my lovely air-conditioned room. But I also went to Downtown Disney one day to see a movie, and I thought that was a nice way to elude the heat as well.

We also use mid-days to 'hit the streets', as in getting in the car and going to various malls, outlets, etc.

We do pretty much all those, but Ice Cream and the nap are the most fun!

i like to wear dark clothes, and i have made the mistake of doing so at disney world. this is very good advice.
Some good tips. I have learned to wear light colored clothing as well. To add to that, the breathable fabrics they have now (active wear, like what they use for some golf shirts for men) are wonderful. It feels like you're not wearing anything at all AND it wicks away moisture.
Guess this wasn't much of a problem for folks last week!! Can you believe some of the photos of people freezing their bums off in WDW??

Bali, I am sure some will not agree with this, but I would much rather be there in the cold than the heat. That is really why we started going to Disney in January. We were there in September and it was HOT HOT HOT. Usually I am never ready to leave Disney but by the end of the week I could not wait to get far enough north to just feel cool again.

I agree 100%! I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and I have no problem whatsoever touring the parks in a jacket. I'd rather have to bundle up than sweat all day long -- you can always add more clothes, but you can't always take more off! Plus, that heat is just so draining. In Florida's 90-100 degree heat, I'm usually exhausted by noon.

Early December is usually warm enough for shorts and t-shirt, but not so hot that you melt.
I can only please one person per day. Today isn't your day... tomorrow doesn't look good either.

The perfect time to go -- you also get to take part in all the fun holiday preparations.
We have often considered going in early December to see the Christmas decorations. However now that we have been going in January I have found that it gives me something to look forward to once Christmas is over and the long winter really sets in. We did go once the first week of January so we did get to see Disney decorated for Christmas but by then I was tired of Christmas.
January's weather is also perfect for us. We are usually in shorts when we are down there even in January.

That's a good thing to consider; if you live in the northern climes, winter starts to get old right around mid-January or early February. It's really nice (and probably pretty healthy) to get out of the snow piles and get a little sun on your skin.
