What do you collect?

Pin trading is always a popular hobby at WDW..unfortunately it's one that The Dave and I have never been able to get into. Not for lack of trying though. We bought a starter pack of old pins off of ebay before one trip..and we bought our lanyards and the snazzy thing that hangs off the lanyard (mine was the castle..The Dave's was Stitch) we traded a few times..we bought a few that we liked..and then by the next trip we forgot the lanyards..the trip after that we didn't even think about them and then just recently (we are moving) I packed them away in a pack for storage.

It was kind of fun once..but we got over it quickly. I know people are really into Vinylamation now..and that looks neat..but I can't see myself buying 100's of them..so basically we just collect coffee mugs. We each get one every trip and then that is "our mug". I love pulling them out and using them daily.

So any fun collections???

I collect Mickey Head Shaped Pens. I have them from every trip including my very first in 93 when I was 8. I love them!

We have fridge magnets from everywhere. Mrs T will even buy one if we have a day trip to the local zoo!

They are usually pretty cheap, even for Disney ones, but we did once pay $12 for a Hard Rock Cafe Orlando one.

Do you magnet collectors all have your collection displayed on your refrigerator?

Oh! Magnets are a fun one! My mom collects magnets. We are a non-flying family so we drive everywhere (like from NJ to Cali) so we have collected many, too!

My favorite pen so far is either my very first one since it was used to get my very first autographs in Disney when I was little or the American flag print one I got rigth after Sept. 11th.

Yep Smile

I'll try to post a picture over the weekend!

Love the pen idea and I do have a few mugs, too, Bella.

But yeah, I'm not really into the pins, either.

My favorite is a huge green Mike Wysowski (I'm butchering that name) mug that is just lime green with a huge eye in the middle of it. I love it..a close second is my Tinkerbell flying over the castle during the Happiest Celebration on Earth era..

I am not really sure any of these count as collections but there are a few things we buy every trip. MrHub always buys a baseball cap. I always buy a tote bag or purse of some type, and we always buy a Christmas ornament for our Mickey tree.
I am sure however, that the number 1 thing we all collect from Disney is our memories. That is my favorite. I love coming home and then making my scrapbook of the trip. mrhub has recently been making a picture video of each trip.

Do scrapbookers take pictures of their books and post them for each other to check out? Or are they more private things?

dsoup, I can not really say what most scrapbookers do with their scrapbooks. I do not know anyone else who makes them. I do not post mine on any kind of scrapbook website (I never even thought about doing that). I would not say mine are private though. The Disney ones sit on the coffee table in the living room. The others are spread out in various places throughout our house. None of them are put "away" where they can not be seen.

I collect shirts. I have at least four that are regularly in my wardrobe, two that I sometimes wear, and another two or three stuffed away somewhere that I either no longer really like or don't fit any more.

I'm just your boring run of the mill pin collector. I've taken a look at the Vinylmation and I just dont get the appeal. To each his own though; I'm sure there are many that would shake their head at the money and time I spend on pins.

I also collect books. Mostly Imagineering type books about designing the Disney Parks.

I'm really going to miss Villains in Vogue. Think that was my favorite in-park store.

I have a great villains t-shirt -- only problem is it's black and too hot to wear most days!

You can tell all the people who stopped sending you postcards that they're responsible for your new drinking problem! laugh

Did a lot of people used to send you them? I don't think I've ever gotten one.

Our family friends sent them all the time while they were on vacation, then we would send them postcards on our trip. It was a fun way to see where people were going!

That sounds awesome. Do you think it means my family doesn't love me that they never send me anything? silly

I assume you are referring to Disney stuff. We collect resort mugs. We have at least 2 of each resort except Saratoga Springs. When we were at the resort Jan went to buy a couple but they only had the previous year(2006 I believe). She said "No thanks, we will wait till you get the new ones". The next time we were there they had changed to the generic mug for all the resorts so we missed the SS specific one.

Caitie and I were talking about this thread today and realized we also collect Disney art though our collection right now is small. Tour our house and you'll find one large Beauty and the Beast figurine set, a sorcerer's apprentice figurine, a Lady and the Tramp figurine, a poster with a bunch of different characters, three small pictures: one of the gang, one of three princesses and their prince, and one of Mufasa and Simba. We also have, though we haven't had it framed so it's still rolled up a large painting of "the gang" we plan to hang over our bed.

I wonder if you could find one on EBay.

Sounds like you guys have quite the collection going! One of my favorite Disney artists is David E. Doss. He does mostly beach scenes with Mickey and the Gang as accents. I really like his piece with beach pails depicting the Disney World parks.

I've also always wanted the Jessica Rabbit big fig. I have NO idea where I'd put it, but I love it.
