Which month(s)?

Some of you may remember how we were going to fly to WDW this last trip and decided to drive after getting airline tickets. Well, we have a credit with the airline and can use the tickets up until Nov. 25th

Now, I am terrified to fly BUT the drive is tiring (DUH!) It takes us 2 days to drive - we usually wind up stopping to sleep on the way down and on the way back, soooooo, we thought maybe we'd make a quick trip to WDW before our airline credit runs out and just see how flying goes for us.

We've been tossing around dates - at first we thought going during the MNSSHP would be fun but I know tickets already went on sale so I have no clue how easily I'd get tickets at this point. CJ told me I am never allowed to plan a trip in the summer because of the heat, so I guess August is out laugh

I was thinking maybe a trip for my birthday (Sept. 30th) but Sept. is iffy with hurricanes, no? Anyway, I'd love opinions..

Late Sept. to early Oct?
Late Oct. to early Nov.?
Right before Thanksgiving?

You can easily get MNSSHP tickets. Don't worry about that for a while.

There's free dining in September right now--that might be a great opportunity! We love going in Sept/Oct--Food and Wine Festival starts Sept 25th and we go to MNSSHP as well. Yep, there are hurricanes, but that's a small risk to take for such a great and uncrowded time to go.

Ahhhh, great points. I know the weather seems to be much nicer in Nov. and the week before Thanksgiving I have heard is less crowded but the free dining is a huge plus in Sept.,,,,

I'm a September baby as well! clapping

I agree with all points so far: going during free dining, MNSSHP, F&W Festival, AND your BIRTHDAY would be pretty much perfect (plus, that's still value season, which means hotel would be cheaper). And late September crowds (even with free dining) are still not that bad. It IS hot, though, and there IS the threat of a hurricane messing with your trip plans.

I also agree that November weather is just about perfect and that the week before Thanksgiving might be a little lower crowd-wise, but then you'd be missing F&W and MNSSHP and the park hours would probably already be getting shorter.

I think I'd probably choose to go in September over your birthday, all things considered. Though I love "winter" in WDW, you just can't beat all the fun stuff and financial value of going in September.

I just can't decide! This is an 'off the cuff' kind of trip planning that I don't normally do. If we would go again this year, it would be a short trip, like 4 days. We are trying to muster up the courage to get on a plane....we really do want to see which is the better way to travel, for us.

I am only leaning towards November because of the weather. BUT, Wyatt turns 3 in November, so thee goes a 'freebie', unless we can go before he turns 3 - wonder what happens if he turns 3 during the stay? Do they charge us for the remaining days for him???

I think, if he turns three during the stay, you just don't tell them. Wink Honestly, even if he did turn three during the stay I'd imagine they'd just overlook it.

BUT, I'd still go during September. Your kids would LOVE mnsshp I bet. Smile What kid doesn't want to get more use out of their halloween costume? Though the party is pricey--that would add a chunk onto the cost of the trip.

LOL, that is what I was thinking, just don't tell. I am not so sure about the MNSSHP, last year Wyatt wouldn't even wear a Halloween costume! sarcastic I wonder if they are just to young for it yet...

Oh, decisions, decisions..

First of all, I take CRUISES in hurricane season, so I wouldn't let that stop a land trip.

Second, there are two times I'd consider a trip; 1) Fourth of July week, and 2) September forward.

Despite the heat, fourth of July week is a GREAT time to be at Disney. Everything is done up all patriotic, there is red, white and blue everywhere, and the fireworks the night of the 4th are fantastic! (We've talked about in here that we watch them from the beach at the Poly.) Again, the only problem is the heat, but over the years we've been several times during this period, and we go to the parks in the morning and at night, and do other stuff in the afternoons. On the positive, parks are open the latest during this time.

Second, I've been in September, October AND November and enjoyed every one of them. I haven't caught the Mickey Halloween stuff yet, but that is a goal for someday. You can't beat the weather in the fall, and there have been very FEW times that really bad tropical weather has affected Disney World.

4th of July week I am guessing is busy? CJ just hates the heat and swears he couldn't be at WDW in really hot/humid weather. I say, going in the summer is better because I don't have to worry about taking kids out of school and those trips can be the leisurely ones. The ones where plenty of TS meals are planned, lots of swimming and relaxing.

We've never even thought about going during July 4th week. Do the parks close due to capacity?

Yes, I've heard them mention that on a few occasions when we were there. It's usually after lunch before that happens though.

I'd enjoy seeing the patriotic decoration, but not the crowds so much. I love when they "do up" the parks like in holiday seasons. I think September is a great time to go, early November as well. I think they have the best combination of activities, park hours, weather and crowds.
