Which sunscreen do you prefer?

I am an avid sunscreen user while at Walt Disney World. Anything to keep me from looking like a cooked lobster in my Disney photos is good with me! So far, I've been a fan of the Coppertone 30 (or higher) waterproof sunscreen.

Have any of you tried the aerosol sunscreens?
I haven't tried aerosol yet as I was concerned about it getting on my clothes.

Which do you prefer, the standard lotion or the aerosol?

As well, do you have a favourite brand?

I usually use whatever to be honest. Ive used both that you have listed. Aerosol and lotion. The times I used the aerosol... it didnt do anything to my clothes. But as for what I use now... whatever we have for our daughter. So something around a 50? But usually at Disney when we go I dont need it.

Why is that Mase?

I have used the aerosol when camping at a lake and it worked just fine. In fact, one time we used it one day and got just a little color but the people we were with insisted we use a "real sunscreen" the next day. We used their lotion kind and was burnt to a crisp by the end of the day. After that I usually use an aerosol if I use any at all.
Do you think it will be really needed at the end of October?

We always go in November, and I could probably count the times ive used sun screen on one hand. The high is normally mid 70's... and not baking.

I have tried the aresol but didn't like it... I didn't feel like I got it everywhere. I really hate sunscreen in general but seeing ad how I'm literally allergic to the sun ( I break out in crazy welts when I'm out in the sun without sunscreen on) I have to use it. I typically use whatever our children use like mase said which is typically a pretty high SPF.

My wife and I go all the way everyday at WDW!...
In our Disney tub we are always stocked with the Coppertone Sport SPF 50 aerosol cans...if anyone shops at Sams Club you can find the 3 can pack for something around $16-$18 I think. It has never bee a problem with clothes...washes right out, and hasn't damaged anything ever.

Between the 2 of us we go through a can every 3 or 4 days.
Even if we are at the pool under an umbrella we apply it.
If the scent is a problem...say if we are having lunch at a sit down, and would want to feel refreshed or not bother anyone else, a little daily refresher spray from my shoulder bag works for me, but I don't think the sunscreen has ever been a prob...

I haven't really researched it, but I have always thought that if you were going to be out for a few hours or more that it is the wise thing to protect yourself confused...especially if you are fair skin (like my wife and I are)... don't overlook if you can...and don't take it lightly...I never thought a big ass tornado was going to go right by house either Smile

I want to see your posts for a long time to come Mase!... muchlove Give it a second thought before you are sure it is not needed

As a very fair skinned Florida girl I would have to say that my favorite is the Neutrogena helio plex at an spf of 75 or a 100. My only caution with any of the aerosol sunscreens is to make sure it is a "no rub" formula, as someone who has walked around with a splotchy sunburn all over my legs I learned this lesson the hard way mickey

laugh You guys are hilarious!
Mase, it looks like you're going to have to wear sunscreen this year whether you like it or not!

Thanks all you fellow fair-skinned people for your answers! I'm also fair skinned, and I have even gotten sunburn on my face in the middle of winter. . . .that's a CANADIAN winter for those who didn't know. . . . so sunscreen is an interesting topic to me.

I'm glad to hear the generally positive reviews for the aerosol sunscreen. I've been wanting to give it a try. Thanks to kayb for the "no rub" suggestion. . . .eek! That must have been annoying to walk around with all summer.

Without question, Banana Boat, and we use the Babies or Kids formula for the whole family. The aerosol is pretty good, but for serious sun exposure, we go with the cream. It's goopy as heck, but I have worn it plenty of times without burning. We're Floridians, and fair skinned at that.

If you don't like the BB, I would at least go with something that contains titanium dioxide. It really blocks the sun. I've tried some of the newer, fancier lotions that are more light weight, but I've gotten too much sun with them.

J.P. -- I've used various sunscreens! I HATE feeling greasy and gross after a day at the parks! I use the aerosol more often than not, just because it's easier to apply. I use a no-fragrance version in a pretty high spf. I do have a Neutrogena sensitive skin SPF lotion that I use on my face and shoulders since I don't like to spray the stuff in my face Smile

I don't like the stickiness of most aerosols but I have found one that I truly love. Neutrogena Dry. It has a pleasant aroma and it is so dry you don't even notice that you have suncreen on. I have it in SPF 55 but it may come in different formulations. It costs about $10 at Walmart. I think the aerosols are much easier to re-apply during the day and they don't stain clothing. They feel very cool to hot skin so it makes re-applying a treat. In my bag, I keep a big ziploc freezer bag lined with a wash cloth from the hotel. Then I put in a frozen bottle of water (if we have a fridge that will freeze one) and the sunscreen. That way the sunscreen gets really cold and feels great to your skin. The water melts and you have a cold drink of water without paying extra! The wash cloth just keeps it from being so messy but comes in handy as a quick way to wipe sweat from the your skin. Be sure to use the ziploc bag or the rest of your stuff in your bag will get soggy from the water bottle.

You've managed to combine sunscreen and a spa treatment. silly Sounds really nice.

I think the Neutrogena Dry is what we use as well. I can't find the bottle to check though.
