Whispering Canyon as a Solo

So I think eating at Whispering Canyon cafe as a solo traveler would be a hoot. Lots to do while you wait for your food. I know some people don't like attention when they're solo, and it's very possible attention will be called to you. Would you recommend this place to a solo traveler?

I'm not sure it'd be right for me as a solo -- possibly if they put me in a back corner somewhere where I could just watch the shenanigans, but I wouldn't want to be front and center.

I wonder how the servers deal with solos!

I think they've stopped during lunch, but for breakfast and dinner, your server takes on an old west "character," and pretty much has fun at your expense throughout the meal. Throwing straws and napkins, making funny comments, etc -- it's a lot like the structure over at 50's Prime Time Cafe. All in fun!

There are also "horse races" for the kids on hobby horses....and sometimes the adults get scolded and have to ride their own hobby horse around the restaurant! Smile Also, there's a trick to asking for ketchup -- let me know if you want the spoiler!

Usually, I order a zillion cokes during the meal so that my server eventually just brings out a bucket of coke for me with a really long straw! Then I get a "fastpass to the bathroom" at the end of the meal mickey

It can be a lot of fun. I'm not sure how good it would be solo. I can't decide if the interaction would be fun or annoying if I was there by myself.

Do you have any room to consider it in your itinerary, or are you all filled up now? I think it's a really good breakfast.

And if you've never seen the Wilderness Lodge it's a really nice resort to visit.

We will be visiting WL, but didn't have room for Whispering Canyon.

Found a list of things to "enhance" your WC experience:

Wear
a Hat or T-Shirt from Universal or Sea World

Tell your server you spent the day at an attraction outside of WDW

Tell the server whose birthday or anniversary it is

Have your kids "egg him/her on"

Have one of the males in the group ask where the restrooms are

Claim your straw is not long enough

Chew gum

Ask the server where you can buy some chewing gum in WDW

Ask for ketchup -- but be ready for a little exercise and team building!

Order a soda for breakfast.

I think I've safely ordered a soda for breakfast. I've seen most of the results of the other ones.

So are you going to try to do them all in one meal when you get to go?

I bet they might come up with some unusual alternatives for you if they see you're intentionally putting them through their paces.

I think it depends on your personality. I could do it..I am much too reserved!

Dave and I went there once and I think our waitress kind of got the "we really just want to watch the show not be a part of it" vibe and she played around with us a little bit but mostly let us eat in peace while we watched everyone else. She did bring me a huge coke..which little did she know I really appreciated laugh

I think it definitely depends on your personality. I don't think I'd like dining here very much, solo or otherwise. I've heard it can get quite loud because of all the shenanigans (ironic, given the name), and I don't like loud restaurants.

I don't enjoy loud places much eirher, but Whispering Canyon can be pretty fun. It hasn't been that loud when we've been there, but I've heard horror stories so maybe we've just been lucky. The food is pretty good for breakfast though.
