Your least favorite Disney moment..

Disney is an awesome place..we all know that. The service & the experience on top of the magicalness of it all make it one of my favorite places to vacation. In fact I'd rather go there that just about anywhere because I know that I will be well taken care of and 99% of the time I will have an amazing time..but there is that 1%..those moments that slap you in the face and make you think "oh crap, this is still real life"...the blush is off the rose so to speak..
The Dave and I have had one of those moments in our many many trips to Disney World.
The first..I like the call this one Bella vs. The Norwegian. Basically the hostess at Akerhaus had a bad attitude..which resulted in me running from Norway to Guest Realtions and back in less than 5 minutes in order to ensure that my credit card would not be charged for a meal that the stupid hostess insisted we didn't have an ADR for. (We totally did by the way). She said we didn't have a resevervation and they had no seating..and basically moved on to the people behind me. No help, nothing. Run to GS..we do have one..Norway girl is a moron..run back to Norway.."No, it's not here. You need to leave." Oh no she didn't. I said please look it up by my phone number "Oh here it is"...gave us a pager and expected me to mosey along..no way..not happening. I said to her in my nicest most contradictory voice "So you found it by looking up my phone number?"..yes.."Well..wouldn't it of been easier to just do it that way in the first place?". She somehow later turned into our food runner and I was convinced she was going to spit in my food.
End Scene.

Or well..not really..I had one too many Glowtini's with Belle & friends and ended up asking Dave 50 thousand times if I should apologize to her..I didn't.

Bwa ha ha ha!!! That's too funny, Bella! I'm cracking up here. So sorry you had a bad experience; what a bummer! I never remember my confirmation numbers and always have a little freak out moment that they're not going to find my reservation!

My "bad disney moment" was when we were parking. When we arrive at a park later in the day, we always ask the attendant if there are any spots up front (left by people who have left for the day). On this particular day, we had a snooty parking attendant who basically needed to say in as sarcastic a voice as possible that we weren't going to be parking in the front.

Note that this tactic usually works with no problem, but, alas. He must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed.

I don't remember having any bad experiences with any cast members (well apart from the cleaner that nearly frightened us to death, but thats another story). I have had trouble with other guests though. Some people simply don't care if what they are doing is spoiling someone elses enjoyment.

My first time ever in the Magic Kingdom, it was busy and we were watching a parade from a reasonable spot, as was the guy next to me both of us snapping away at the parade with cameras. He kept leaning to one side and getting in my shot (and I don't mean just in the side of it but right in the middle) despite me asking him many times to stop it. It wasn't as though it was improving his shot either, it would have made no difference to him.
I wouldn't normally do something like this, especially not somewhere I'd never been before, but eventually I started jabbing him in the ribs with my elbow everytime he leaned. Mrs T nearly had a fit, but it had the desired effect after a few minutes.

Large groups (usually hispanics) who hit the queues in small groups and then want to be together annoy me too. Instead of the ones who are further forward waiting for those who are behind, those who are behind push forward to catch up. It's blatant queue jumping as far as I'm concerned.

We've had some moderately bad experiences with CMs. Usually not in particularly customer facing places. One of the biggest problems is when we are dealing with new CMs and we know more about how WDW works than they do. You can get impatient and the wrongs answers can be frustrating.

Tony, that's a little bit racist -- though I can't argue that it's NOT true -- I've seen it a lot of times also and it IS really annoying.

I can think of two bad experiences off the top of my head. The first was on our honeymoon, my foot had a huge blister on it from the wedding shoes, and the first night we didn't realize just how bad it was. We went to downtown Disney and I couldn't walk more than a few hundred feet before I felt like my foot was going to fall off. We had to turn around and go back to the hotel to bandage it up (and spent the next week rebandaging every day!). It didn't ruin anything other than that first night, but it was our honeymoon and we ended up in the hotel room so it wasn't all bad.

The other was when I was young - we were in MK and it was POURING after the fireworks. We went back to the bus to our hotel, but the line was HUGE and we weren't even under a shelter - we stood there in the rain for 15 minutes -- and then climbed onto a HEAVILY air conditioned bus. We were cold and wet and miserable that night -- it's a memory I'll never lose - and it was TERRIBLE!

Apologies if any offense caused. It wasn't meant that way and is purely an observation based on my own experience.
I have been told there is a cultural difference with people from latin america not being used to organised queuing and not fully understanding the normal good manners, but I see more who seem to know the rules than who don't, so I'm not sure if the cultural thing is right or not.

I've had a few bad experiences, but I must say line (or queue) jumping is one of the things that bothers me most. Now it should be noted that most of us have done this at one time or another. For example if we're in line and my wife decides she needs to use the restroom. I don't have a problem with her coming back to join me in the line (even if she went while I got in line). As I see it, there is a big difference between the above, and large groups of people that do this. I have even seen the same groups doing it again and again at different rides. I have also seen people just plain cutting in line, when there was no member of their party ahead of them in line. There have been several times I wanted to make a complaint with a CM because they behavior can adversely affect all of the guests around these people but I decided not to.

At POFQ in 95' the cieling cracked, leaked, and then partly fell in ourhotel room onto the beds! Luckily we weren't home but we did have to move rooms. They moved us to a room but my mom had paid for pool view and was mad. At first they wouldn't credit her since we pre-paid but then they changed our room again and all was well!

It makes me wonder about some people that they feel they are just entitled to line jump. In the case you mention, LifL, about your wife - I have no problem with that. It's when four, five, or more people start doing it, and you know that it's going to push your ride back another "round" (for lack of a better word).

On a totally irrelevant side note, LifL - ever since you posted that video where you claimed you were the one in green singing, every time I see a post by you I can't help but think of that. Thanks. Smile

Tony - no hard feelings - I wasn't offended, just pointed out others might have been.

LOL, yeah unfortunately that song/video does seem to stick. Sometimes I'll just be going about my day, at work or otherwise, and *BAM* that song pops into my head. May be a bit worse for me since I've heard it dozens of times, but the video still makes me chuckle.

Food poisoning.

A 5-day trip to Disney World ended up being a 5-day run between the bed and the bathroom.

I think food poisoning wins! That must have been terrible! We got it from Chef Mickey's in '93 and it ruins the whole trip. I'm sorry to hear that! As for the roof, well we weren't in the room at the time and I've had no other issues with PO so it really wasn't that terrible.

Ok..food poisioning and the roof caving in..I'll call that one a tie!
I forgot that Dave was sick on one of our short three day trips..he had food poisoning before we left but hoped he'd be over by the time we got there. The first day he was miserable and it was also the first time we did the dining plan!

EDIT: I read that as "other issues" rather than "no other issues" and was wondering what kind of issues you might have had that eclipsed a roof caving in.

Disney wise- none! Just food poisoning in '93. But in 1996 we drove to Cali. for my cousins wedding and our hotel, the Handelry (sp?) caught fire! We weren't there at the time- we were up at Knottsberry Farms. Some one drove a golfcart into the side or something. We cam home to find out we had to move haha. Luckily my dads 4 siblings all live there so there were plenty of places to go while we found a new hotel.

Ahh mine would be the great ambulance ride (not to be confused with the great movie ride!) August 98..my first trip to the world. Im a desert rat..I grew up with NO HUMIDITY my whole life. Got a cold from someone on the plane and day 5 into an 11 day trip I get sick sick sick...woke up at 2am unable to breathe..called down to Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness and asked them to call a taxi so I can go to the hospital..they say a van is coming to pick me up at my cabin. Walk inside the hall and the ambulance is already there. 2 nebulizer treatments later they say I need another so off I go with the charming and handsome paramedics...Celebration Hospital is beautiful by the way! I ended up with Pneumonia in the middle of August in Florida...

The customer service was FANTASTIC...but who wants pneumonia on vacation?

ETA: My lungs were 80% filled with water..had I waited til morning I would have drown to death.

Oh my goodness!!! eek What a scary thing to happen. I'm so glad you took it seriously enough to call for the ambulance instead of "waiting until morning" to see if it got better. Yikes.

This one isn't mine (it's a comment from youtube and thought I would share it), but I imagine that this was one of her least favorite moments.

"i met princess Tiana, this is how our conversation went:

Her- Hello! Oh you look so beautiful, just like a princess! What's your name, sweetheart?

me- Laughing out loud thank you! My name is Sam

her-That's a beautiful name! My name is Sandra, would you like to take a picture?

me-ok!

*click*

her-bye bye!

It took me about 2 seconds after walking away to realize that she told her name was something besides Tiana. Yup, my dreams are crushed. :("

I think everyone's least favorite Disney moment is having to leave to go back to reality. There is more to my story of my return flight last year which was no fault of Disney's.

After boarding the Magical Express around 3:30, I got a call from Delta that my flight was delayed 2 hours. I get to the airport and find out it's delay another half hour. There was an issue with the plane and they had to get a part from Atlanta; which they weren't even sure if it would work, and it didn't. The gate agents wanted to get the flight out that night but were worried if the delay was any longer the flight crew would time out, and they would have to cancel the flight. They had us start making other arrangements for a fight out the next day. After I had seats on hold, I noticed the flight status changed to 10:30 and it was boarding. They made the decision to use a plane that had just landed from New York. In order to avoid the flight crew timing out we had to stop in Atlanta to change crews (it was a non-stop flight). We finally boarded around 11:00 (the flight was originally supposed to leave at 6:15). I didn't get home until 4:00 in the morning. Delta did give everyone a $100 voucher which I used towards this year's trip.

Here I was in Orlando for an extra 5 hours and I was stuck at the airport.

a few years back our grandson was 'hot dogging' on a rented golf cart at
ft. Wilderness and rolled it over. Had to make a trip to the local hospital.

oh my goodness! I guess it could've been worse? My son hit a rock w a golf cart and the steering wheel went into his stomach, had to take him to check for internal injuries but he was fine. Teenage boys, what to do? Amazing there are so many that live to be men!

our worst experience was at the Coronado pepper market. The way the food lines were set up was there was no line. I ordered and was told it would be a 10 minute wait so I went to pick a desert and a drink went back and watched 5 people walk up in front of me order the same meal and and was served right away and of course my meal was served to them. My husband had it worse. He had ordered a cheeseburger and we saw it sit for 10 minutes as they were serving all the other people who walked up and when he asked for his burger they grabbed it and gave it to him. We complained to the "manager" and he offered our meal for free. It was kind of weird because he seemed like he wanted it to be all hush hush as he tore up the receipt of our order. Anyways we complained by e-mail and a representative did call us. It certainly wasn't the service we had come accustomed to. We did have a shining moment though as we discovered the fantastic table service restaurant and lucky for us we had the deluxe dining plan. mickey

I think I remember this correctly, but isn't the Pepper Market run by someone else other than Disney? I mean the employees are Disney but it's run by the people who run the San Angel restaurant? I've heard bad and good things about Pepper Market before.

Yes I heard as well the pepper market was contracted out.
