Favorite Time of Year to Visit Walt Disney World

One would think that a Disney fan's favorite time to go to Disney Parks would be the most popular time of year, but that's just not so. The heat and crowds of the popular summer season can almost send even the most dedicated fan into a tither. Many families choose to travel only when their kids are out of school, and this makes for crowds of (sometimes first time) guests struggling to get to their rides in elbow to elbow masses.

Profile of an Imagineer: Rolly Crump

Considered a "true original" even among Disney Imagineers, Rolly Crump has had a hand in some of the most popular Disney animated features as well as attractions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Sources Say Disney Family Could Bid On Dodgers

The list of those who could potentially bid on the L.A. Dodgers may include the Disney family. According to sources, the family of the late Roy Disney has turned to their family investment firm manager, Stanley Gold, in an effort to bid on the major league baseball team.

Being an owner of a major sports team is not new for the Disney family; they once owned the Angels before selling the team in 2002.

Possibilities of Disney's "Next-Gen" Technology

Walt Disney World has just turned 40 years old and they are not stopping. With the upcoming opening of the Art of Animation Resort, a new Fantasyland and the announcement of an Avatar land in the Animal Kingdom, Disney is also pumping a rumored $1 Billion in "Next-Gen" technology.

Disney Fantasy Floats Out

Disney's newest cruise ship, the Disney Fantasy, is one step closer to its maiden voyage scheduled this spring. Yesterday, the Fantasy had its float out test in the shipyard's harbor where it's being constructed.

In true Disney fanfare, thousands turned out for a look at the ship upon the water while fireworks exploded over the harbor.

Construction will still continue on the interior of the vessel, giving it signature Disney touches.

The Fantasy's first voyage is scheduled for March 31 with a planned departure from Port Canaveral, Florida.

Epcot's Test Track Will Get "Re-Imagined" Treatment This Fall

Guests lining up to take part in the popular Epcot attraction Test Track this fall will find a new, re-imagined version of the ride thanks in part to a renewed business relationship between General Motors and Disney.

Look for the attraction's testing workshop to become the "Chevrolet Design Center at Epcot," a space where guests will be able to design their own vehicle. After trying out their had at automotive designing, guests will then be able to take their design out on the Test Track course in a six person "SimCar."

Disney, Comcast Strike Deal For On Demand Services

Disney and cable provider Comcast have recently reached an agreement that will allow Comcast customers access to all of Disney's channels through on demand services.

The deal, announced earlier this week, will let some 22 million Comcast subscribers view such channels as the Disney Channel, ABC, and ESPN via on-demand at home or on portable electronic devices through Comcast's Xfinity services.

Downtown Disney's AMC MacGuffins Bar & Lounge

Movie Night on Vacation just got a little nicer with last year's complete overhaul that turned the Downtown Disney AMC Theater into a dine in movie experience. The AMC Fork & Screen is open to guests 18 years of age and older with "with upgraded seats, an extensive menu, full cocktail bar and service at the push of a button." It can still be a family experience as well, but those under age 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

New Dumbo Ride At Fantasyland Recently Tested

Progress is certainly being made at the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland expansion. Recently, the new and improved Dumbo ride was spotted being tested in preparation for its expected debut in February.

Dumbo looks to have received some upgrades in this new imagining of the classic attraction. First off, sources note the ride will fly clockwise and is the first ride in any of the Disney parks to do so. Next, the ride's topper also looks to be getting a makeover with Timothy Mouse being replaced by a "bevy of storks."
