5 Reasons To Love Disney's Yacht Club Resort

It's no secret that Disney's Beach Club is one of the most popular deluxe resorts on Disney property, but have you spent any time at its adjacent sister resort, Disney's Yacht Club? This beautiful grand New England-style yacht club is nestled along the shore of Crescent Lake and if one of my favorites. Check out these 5 Reasons to Love Disney's Yacht Club Resort.

Grown-up Atmosphere

An upscale New England nautical elegance pervades the atmosphere of this popular wedding and convention hotel. It always seems to me that there is a little less hustle and bustle at this resort, guests are a little older, the public spaces are a little quieter than at its sister the Beach Club. I love the rich woods and brass finishes, that boating spirit and yacht club atmosphere. For a special treat, you can even book a room on the concierge level.

Water Taxi to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios

Guests staying at Disney's Yacht Club Resort enjoy "back door" access to the Epcot Theme Park through the International Gateway. Just a short stroll down the boardwalk past the Beach Club it makes for a delightful way to beat the morning rush at the main gate. Even though it's just a short stroll, my family prefers to take the water taxi to both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. Leaving directly from the Yacht Club marina dock, this is one of the most beautiful and relaxing boat rides in all of Walt Disney World. My husband and I especially appreciate the trip on a warm night when we have time to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the beauty of the Boardwalk lights twinkling on the water.

Crew's Cup Lounge

Located just next door to the Yachtsman Steak House, this low key and comfortable lounge offers guests a place to kick back and relax while enjoying a cocktail or two. The Crew's cup shares a kitchen with the Yactsman and has ample food offerings, making it one of the best kept secrets in Disney Dining. There are few better places to relax at an indoor table for a great meal without a reservation. The Crews Cup is typically open from Noon to Midnight.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

This upscale restaurant is one of the Disney Signature Dining establishments and just happens to be my favorite steakhouse on property. From the comfortable atmosphere and the dry aging room where guests can get a preview of their dinner, to the award winning wine list and decadent flavors the Yacthsman is a delight. I'm particularly fond of sitting next to the window after dark and watching the tranquil activities of Stormalong Bay. You don't have to take my word for it though, check out the latest review over at the Disney Food Blog.

IllumiNations Cruises

Leaving nightly from the Yacht Club Marina is a very special excursion that guests can book for their enjoyment. Pontoon boats holding up to 10 people can be reserved starting at $346.13, the cost includes a driver. The boats take a short cruise from the Yacht Club Marina over to Epcot and sit beneath the International Gateway Bridge to watch the nighttime spectacular. If you would like to add a little something more to your cruise, food and beverage items are available through Yacht Club Private Dining.

Stormalong Bay

Speaking of Stormalong Bay, it's not just Beach Club babies that have access to one of the most unique and exciting pools in all of the Walt Disney World Resort. Guests at Disney's Yacht Club get to enjoy all the fun that this 3-acre beachfront water park has to offer. Guests of the resort can catch currents in the lazy river, relax in one of 3 whirlpool spas and soak up the sun on the elevated tanning deck. This sand bottomed wonder has its own beach, waterslide, and waterfalls.

I've stayed at the Yacht Club once and had the pleasure of overlooking the weeding gazebo. The few days I was there I was also able to witness a wedding. I've also stayed at the Beach Club villas a half dozen times - this past March break, August and at Christmas (Xmas Day had a nice dinner at the buffet). The proximity to Epcot is amazing. The convenience to The Studios is great (I did walk there this time). You can pick up a rental car at the Dolphin (also within walking distance), great views of the Boardwalk, and short access to the eateries there, too. I rented a bike for an hour ($9) and toured around. There's a quieter pool, too, for when they start the afternoon kids portion of their "entertainment", which can make staying at Stormalong Bay a little less pleasant than it ought to be. It also has a pretty decent fitness room for when the weather isn't as nice to do something outside. By far this is the pretties set of resorts, and they also have great amenities and location.

I have visited the Boardwalk many times and dined at the Yacht Club and Beach Club, walked around the properties. It wasn't until this past fall that I actually stayed there. I live in the Orlando area but my sisters and I were planning to run the Tower of Terror Ten Miler and decided to stay "on property". I have stayed at many Disney properties but the Yacht Club is now listed among my favorites. What a delightful venue. We had ice cream at Beaches and Cream and enjoyed all the amenities of the resort. I will DEFINITELY stay there again!

Was just there in February. First time visitor to this resort. Everything you wrote about the convenience of the water taxi to Epcot and the Studios is spot on correct. Who needs the hassle of the buses when you can take a 5-7 minute relaxing boat ride. Oh, and Beaches and Cream was the perfect extra.

The Steakhouse is definitely better than the Canadian Le Celleur (?). My wife and I ate at both and the Yachtsman was superior. The steak was so perfectly prepared and tender it was almost like liquid steak....melt in your mouth ! The vegetables were crisp and not overcooked, the potatoes (mashed and baked) were likewise perfect. In all, one of the 2-3 best meals I have ever had !!! Dan F.
