Disneynature Celebrates Earth Day With Bears

Are you looking for something to do this weekend that brings a little bit of Disney home? In the tradition of film pioneer Walt Disney and his award winning wildlife documentary filmmaking Disneynature brings a new epic True Life Adventure to the big screen.

Sky and Her CubsSky and Her Cubs

Shot in the majestic wilderness of Alaska, "Bears" is directed by Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey, and narrated by John C. Reilly. The team has worked on such breathtaking Disneynature films as "Earth," "African Cats" and "Chimpanzee." The new adventure is the fifth theatrical release for Disneynature, and the first new Disney-branded film label from The Walt Disney Studios in more than 60 years. "Bears" adds some adorable new characters into the line-up of Disney's love affair with the animal. It showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life's most important lessons. Like the importance, and dangers, of digging up clams.

The journey begins for this new family as winter comes to an end and the bears emerge from hibernation to face the bitter cold. The world outside is exciting - but risky - as the cubs' playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches. The season changes from spring to summer, and the brown bears must work hard to find food - ultimately feasting at a plentiful salmon run - while staying safe from rival male bears and predators, including an ever-present wolf.

"Bears" arrives in theaters April 18, 2014, to celebrate Earth Day.
