Recently Disney happily announced that families had begun to move in to Golden Oak, the unique luxury residential complex located just minutes from the Magic Kingdom. Can you imagine waking up every day to hear the steam whistle from the Walt Disney World Railroad? Coming from far and wide families from Northeast, Midwest, and Southwest regions are now making their home in first phases of the elegant 450 lot complex.
"The level of activity right now at Golden Oak is very exciting, with residents moving in and construction taking place throughout the community," says Page Pierce, vice president of Golden Oak at Walt Disney World Resort. "And, of course, nothing is more exciting than having families in residence, beginning to make memories that will last a lifetime."
In addition to enjoying their new estate homes, Golden Oak residents and their guests have already begun to enjoy some of the key amenities of their private Summerhouse. Summerhouse is the community hub for Golden Oak and features lounge areas, lap and family pool, game room and state-of-the-art fitness facilities. "Once fully operational, we will be offering exciting opportunities for food and wine events within Summerhouse - featuring talented Walt Disney World chefs as well as sommeliers," says Pierce.
Golden Oak residents also receive a "Disney Connection suite of amenities, including a complimentary Golden Oak VIP Pass that allows them admission to all four Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex every day of the year with no block-out dates." As if that alone wasn't worth enough, they will also enjoy "complimentary theme and water parks parking for one car, discounts of up to 20 percent on select merchandise purchased at select Walt Disney World Resort parks or Downtown Disney area locations, access to door-to-park transportation, merchandise delivery, discounted golf services and much more."
And here I thought living on property was cool enough! These lucky homeowners will be able to live their dream vacations 365 days a year. I'll take a villa steeped in the romance of the Mediterranean village please. Does this sound like the place for you? It's all available for a "mere" price tag of between $1.5 and $8 million.
Have you dreamed about living at Golden Oak? Leave a comment and tell me what you think the best part of living there would be!

Ok this is my fantasy....and I guess at 1.5 million it will most likely stay my fantasy....:(....
Such an incredible opportunity...and just what what Walt wanted...well sort of...I'm not sure how he would feel about the price tag...but his orgianl plan for Epcot was a community were people would live....

Are people really going to live here 365 days a year and go to work/school with this as their primary residence or are they in reality second homes for wealthy people who like to spend a number of weeks/months per year in Florida? If so, are they allowed to sub let and/or let friends stay there when they are not in residence. Disney sometimes has rules about things like this. Does anyone know?

UGH!!!!! Some of us aren't incredibly rich!!!! I am thankful for my refund every year to get my passes!!! I am sure Walt would be turning over in his grave over the price of tickets, this was suppose to be a place where families would be able to go and AFFORD it!! So naturally a place to live, would only be to far out reach for us everyday folks!!!

Ahh...if only! Living there sounds like a dream come true. Even with the steep pricing, I bet that the homes will sell out quickly, if they haven't already!

Of course it sounds like dreaming of some magical palace. It is a good opportunity for those who are rich and wealthy, they can easily afford to live there 365 days a year.

No, I don't think Walt would be turning over in his grave over the price of the tickets. Actually, when Disney World first opened, really only the the "well to do" could afford to go there!
Also until they started building the moderate and value resorts, the average person could not afford to stay on property either.

They are not allowed to rent the house out, I do known that. It is the Homeowners Assoc. rules , not Disney's. Also the Golden Oak VIP Pass is only free for people that make settlement buy December 2012 .After that they have to purchase the pass annually.
