Kona Cafe

The Kona Cafe is an underrated gem in the world of Disney dining. Recently though it seems more and more people know about it and getting a reservations is becoming more difficult (especially during peak season.)

Located in the Polynesian Resort on the mezzanine level of the Great Ceremonial House in between the Tambu Lounge and the Kona Island counter-service location, the Kona Cafe is a great stop on your way into or out of the Parks, especially Magic Kingdom. And it is open breakfast, lunch, and dinner so you can enjoy some Kona goodness anytime during the day!

So what's good?

Breakfast: The big draw for most Kona Cafe breakfast patrons is the Tonga Toast. Tonga toast is a large piece of sourdough French toast stuffed with bananas and rolled in cinnamon sugar. It is served with a slice of pineapple, strawberry compote, and maple syrup. Delicious!

The Hawaiian Kona Coffee served at the Kona Cafe (as well as other places at the Polynesian) is heavenly. This coffee is grown on the Big Island on the slopes of the Mauna Loa and Hualalai volcanoes and is one of the most expensive coffees in the world. You can order it by the cup but we suggest ordering the French Press Pot which will get you up to 3 cups of coffee! And believe me you will want 3 cups of this amazing coffee.

Lunch & Dinner: Its hard to narrow down the best entrees on the lunch and dinner menus for the Kona Cafe because everything is really good. But I asked around and got trusted friends opinions on their favorites. The spicy wing appetizers are similar to those found on the menu at 'Ohana and come highly recommended. Main entree favorites include the scallops, the sushi (although some might consider this an appetizer I'm considering it a main entree), and the grilled teriyaki steak with grilled pineapple salsa.

When it comes to dessert The Kona Cafe's Kona Kone is famous. And you can see why!

Kona is one of my favorites! The sticky wings are delicious and definitely big enough to be a meal. The bread served at dinner is also beyond amazing with the honey macadamia nut butter =)

I'm partial to their chocolate fondue dessert myself!
I've never had a bad meal here and it's become a regular spot for a break from the parks for a nice lunch.
