Star Wars Episode VII To Begin Filming In May

With all the hype of the upcoming Marvel movies, it may be easy to forget a little movie franchise called Star Wars but hot on the heels of Marvels: Assembling the Avengers TV special, comes news straight from Lucas Arts at the Disney Shareholders Meeting.

Production will officially begin on Star Wars Episode VII this May 2014 at the venerable Pinewood Studios in London. Despite rumors to the contrary, Star Wars Episode VII is still being co-written and directed by J. J. Abrams.

Not much has been leaked about this script, but what little bit that has been told of this next epic installment will take place 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi. Other rumors continue to swirl around the movie: like who is going to play the titular main characters, what part if any will Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamil or Harrison Ford play, and what is the overall presence of Han and Leia's twins.

Two important 'Star Wars nerd dates' are waiting in the wings with fans hoping some very big news will make its way to the public. Those dates are May 4th (aka Star Wars Day), and July 24-27TH (San Diego Comic-Con).

A release date of 2015 has been set to bring this cult classic universe back to the big screen.

Are you excited for the new Star Wars franchise to roll? Tell us who your favorite character is, we would love to know.
