Disney Pulling All Refrigerators from Resort Hotel Rooms

If you are counting on that in-room fridge on your next stay at a Disney resort, be prepared to be disappointed.

It's being reported by Stitch Kingdom that Disney has announced plans to remove all refrigerators from all resort rooms at The Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and Aulani Resort. The reason for the removals appears to be a possible manufacturer's defect.

Disney Parks and H2O Plus Expand on Alliance Relationship

We all know and love (and take home) the H2O Plus products found in the rooms at Disney resorts. Now as part of a new deal with Disney, H2O Plus products will be available at Aulani in Hawaii and internationally at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Resort Paris.

Profits Are Up for The Walt Disney Company

The Walt Disney Company reported its second quarter earnings for the fiscal year 2013, and it was good news for the House of the Mouse. The company reported an overall profit of $1.5 billion, which is up 32 percent from the same period last year.

Disney Helps Clean The World

Back in 2010, Disney World became a part of Clean the World, a central Florida organization which collects, sanitizes and repackages unused, discarded hotel soaps and shampoos before distributing them to poverty-stricken nations across the globe.

In the two years since, some 53 tons (or 565,509 bars) of soap have been collected by Disney resorts. In addition, Disney has collected over 33 tons of shampoo, conditioner and lotion for distribution.

The cleanliness items have been distrubted locally in homeless and domestic abuse shelters in the Orlando area as well as worldwide.

Wi-Fi Now Available At All Disney World Resorts

Wi-Fi has caught up to Disney. As of this month, all Walt Disney World resorts and hotels will have complimentary Wi-Fi high-speed internet access in certain areas.

Each resort (with the exception of Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground) will have Wi-Fi access at the following areas:

  • Porte Cochere
  • Main Lobby
  • Bus stops
  • Guest rooms
  • Feature Pool (one pool at each; specified for some resorts below)

Tidbits From WDW: Cable and Bus Testing

Expanded cable for guests and a testing a new bus are a couple of interesting tidbits of news this week regarding the happiest place on earth.

First off, Walt Disney World Resort began offering expanded cable channels on their hotels' in-room televisions last week. A sampling of the new channels available to guests include: Fox News, Bravo, AMC, National Geographic, TBS, TNT, Travel Channel, WE tv, Syfy, Discovery, Bio, HGTV, TLC, History, Food Network and TV Land. A complete list of channels available to guests can be found on Channel 17.

Disney To Stop Newspaper Delivery To Rooms

Those guests staying at deluxe Disney resorts will have one less perk to look forward to now. As of January 30, Disney has stopped the daily weekday delivery of the USA Today newspaper to the rooms of its deluxe resorts.

Those resorts affected by this change are:

  • Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Disney's BoardWalk Inn
    Disney's Contemporary Resort
  • Disney's Grand Floridian Resort
  • Disney's Polynesian Resort
  • Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
  • Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Room-Only Discounts Announced for Fall and Early 2012

If you're looking into a WDW vacation and want a discounted room at a Disney resort, then consider these recently-released discounts from Disney.

For the fall, Disney is offering discounts on rooms for most nights starting October 30 through December 23 with the exception of the week of Thanksgiving. Here are how the savings break down:

  • 15 percent at All-Star Movies Resort and Port Orleans French Quarter Resort
  • 20 percent at other value and moderate resorts, as well as Fort Wilderness Cabins

Disney's Art of Animation Resort Opening First Phase in May

It's good news for Disney Resort enthusiasts! Earlier this week, Disney Imagineers made the announcement that the newest resort, Disney's Art of Animation, is expected to open in phases beginning May 31, 2012.

Celebrate Halloween This Fall With Mickey's 'Spooktacular' In-Room Celebration

It was one of their most popular offerings last year, and now Disney Floral & Gifts has announced its return. We're talking about, of course, their Mickey's "Spooktacular" In-Room Celebration.

This particular celebration brings some of the Halloween magic back from the Disney parks to a guest's resort room. After returning to the room, guests are greeted with cobwebs, a sash, and other various Halloween decorations on their room's door. Inside, the room is designed to look like Mickey himself has stopped by and personalized a fun, spooky celebration.
