Disney Confirms ‘Star Wars’ Episodes 8 and 9

With 10 months left until Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters, fans have been wondering about plans for Episodes 8 and 9 in the franchise. Well, you can wonder no more. Bob Iger, Disney's Chairman and CEO has confirmed plans for Star Wars Episodes 8 and 9 to complete this new trilogy of Star Wars films.

‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ to be Released on December 18, 2015

It's a happy day in the Star Wars galaxy. Fans finally received the news they've been waiting for - the next installment in the film franchise finally has an official release date - December 18, 2015.

This release date will mark the first time a Star Wars movie will not opened in May. It also is the same day that Avatar was released in 2009.

Filming Begins in Vancouver for Disney’s Mysterious ‘Tomorrowland’

While we don't know much about Disney's Tomorrowland - other than it likely has nothing to do with the actual Tomorrowland - we can tell you that filming has started in Vancouver on the mystery/adventure film.

The film stars two-time Academy Award winner George Clooney (Syriana), along with Hugh Laurie (House), Britt Robertson (Under The Dome), Raffey Cassidy (Snow White and the Huntsman), and Thomas Roberston (The Switch).

Disney and American Airlines Collaborate on Disney’s Planes

Walt Disney Studios and American Airlines have recently announced that they have collaborated in a very special way for the summer release of Disney's Planes, with a campaign that includes promotions, inflight entertainment, and traditional media buys.

Disney's Planes tells the story of Dusty, a plane with dreams of racing and a fear of heights. Dane Cook provides the voice of Dusty as part of cast of all-stars including Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Cleese, and Cedric the Entertainer.

Disney Releases Trailer and First Image of Tom Hanks as Walt Disney in ‘Saving Mr. Banks’

Disney has released the trailer and first image of Tom Hanks as Walt Disney in the film Saving Mr. Banks. In the photo, Walt is showing P.L. Travers - played by Emma Thompson - around Disneyland as he tries to convince her to allow a movie adaptation of her novel Mary Poppins.

Florida Author Sues Disney over ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ Films

Florida-based author Royce Matthew has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company alleging that his work was taken and used in the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise.

This is not the first time Matthew has sued Disney.

Downtown Disney To Host Red Carpet Premiere

The AMC Theater at Downtown Disney will be the site of a red carpet premiere for Disneynature's latest film. "Chimpanzee" will make its world debut at the theater Friday, April 13.

The event's organizers are planning a full red carpet premiere, complete with appearances by the film's directors and noted primatologist Dr. Jane Goodall. The Jane Goodall Institute helped to co-produce the movie alongisde Disneynature.

Disney Studios Names New President Of Worldwide Marketing

Walt Disney Studios has ushered in a new president of worldwide marketing. Ricky Strauss, a Hollywood veteran, has been named to replace MT Carney in that role.

Up until his recent naming as Disney Studios' top marketing exec, Strauss was the president of Participant Media. Under his seven year tenure there, he was responsible for production and marketing of the studio's "socially responsible" pictures. Prior to that, Strauss spent time as a marketing executive with Columbia Pictures.
