Earlier this week, Disney Consumer Products launched a nationwide search for their Winnie the Pooh "Storyteller of the Year." The contest celebrates parents and guardians who use storytelling to teach life lessons and foster their child's creativity.

Disney Closes LucasArts

Disney has announced that they will be shuttering LucasArts, the development and publishing arm for interactive entertainment software. The move is a strategic shift "from an internal development to a licensing model" that will hopefully bring in successful new development partners. Sadly, with this closure there have been lay offs for approximately 150 LucasArts employees.

Disney Professional Internships

Many of us have dreamed of becoming Disney Cast Members at one point or another. Many young adult fans consider the Disney College program, but did you know that Disney also offers professional internships?

New Dumbo Ride At Fantasyland Recently Tested

Progress is certainly being made at the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland expansion. Recently, the new and improved Dumbo ride was spotted being tested in preparation for its expected debut in February.

Dumbo looks to have received some upgrades in this new imagining of the classic attraction. First off, sources note the ride will fly clockwise and is the first ride in any of the Disney parks to do so. Next, the ride's topper also looks to be getting a makeover with Timothy Mouse being replaced by a "bevy of storks."

Disney and YouTube Strike New Partnership

Earlier this week, Disney and YouTube announced a new partnership that looks to bring fresh content to the website of both companies.

The partnership comes on the heels of YouTube's new original content plan, a plan that seeks to launch several new channels on the famous video website. The addition of Disney, through Disney Interactive, will help both companies reach younger generations through the online video format. For YouTube, partnering with the Disney name will give the video site a new credibility with families.

A Video Look: Imagineers, Technology and Fantasyland

It's not really news that the Fantasyland expansion is in full swing with many updates planned for that area. What is new is the use of some innovative and generally nifty technology used by the Imagineers hard at work on the expansion.

The video below takes us behind the scenes as Imagineers plan and construct a virtual project on a computer before the real thing goes up in WDW, and are able to pinpoint any concerns before the first nail is hammered into place.

Sneak Peek of the Haunted Mansion's New Queue

It's one of Walt Disney World's best-known and most-loved attractions, and now its queue is getting an update. Thanks to the Disney Parks Blog, fans and guests can get a glimpse of the line now through a video they released just this past week.

Mars Needs Moms Trailer Released

In a new Disney film created by the folks who made A Christmas Carol last year, nine-year-old Milo (voiced by Seth Green) has to stow away on a spaceship to save his mom (voiced by Joan Cusack) from Martians.

Check out the trailer for "Mars Needs Moms" below. The film is scheduled to open in 3D, 2D, and IMAX 3D March 11, 2011.

Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in 'The Turkey Catchers'

A look through our archives brought me to this Thanksgiving favorite!

It's another holiday, and another Disney animated short film. I went hunting for something to help celebrate Thanksgiving and discovered that in 1938 Walt Disney went through a lengthy pre-production on a cute piece entitled 'Pilgrim Mickey' that never got off of the ground and was canceled by the spring of 1939.

Whoopi Goldberg Narrates Epcot's Candlelight Processional [Video]

We've shared many videos with you this year of Disney's winter celebrations, but Epcot's Candlelight Processional is a can't miss tradition of the Holiday Season for many a Disney fan. First performed in Disneyland in 1958 the Processional first made its way to the Walt Disney World Resort in 1971. It found its current home at the American Gardens Theatre in Epcot in 1994.

The Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street U.S.A.

Sit back in the old time barber's chair and get ready for a good old-fashioned haircut at Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom. Many Disney fans know that the Harmony Barber shop on Main Street USA is a great place to take your kids for their "first haircut," what fewer know is that there are plenty of services available for adults as well. If you're looking for a new, unique Walt Disney World experience, why not add a trip to the Harmony Barber Shop to your list?

“Once Upon a Time” Star Lana Parrilla Visits New Fantasyland

Regina, The Evil Queen from 'Once Upon a Time' stopped by the Magic Kingdom's New Fantasyland last week, looking to extend her rule beyond the realm of Storybrooke.

The Country Bear Jamboree at the Magic Kingdom

Melinda touched on it last week and I wanted to delve a little deeper into the Country Bear Jamboree in the Magic Kingdom's Frontierland. Recently reopened after having been closed for refurbishment. Disney knows that rehabs can put fans of an attraction on edge. Though it's important to keep everything in good shape, most guests want their favorites to remain the same.

Fountains of Imagination

There are spots scattered around Disney Parks and resorts that not only provide their section of the park with themed atmosphere, but also have the effect of bringing people together. The most beloved of these places may be the jumping fountains outside of the Imagination Pavilion.

Listen to Epcot's Unique Percussion Crew: The JaMMitors

One of my favorite parts of Epcot is all the live entertainment happening constantly around the park. Music is everywhere, even at the trashcans. The JaMMitors are a unique "percussion-playing cleanup crew" that adds fun and creativity to even the most boring of Disney jobs. Instruments for this exciting entertainment crew are simply "regular trash cans, dustpans, and hardhats." Dressed as custodians the group "are actually percussionists who bang, clap, clip and clomp to your heart's delight".
