In the past we've normally stayed 5 nights / 6 days but this December we'll be staying 7 nights /8 days. Can't wait.... Next year will be going to Hawaii and staying a week as well for our 25th wedding anniversary.. My dream vacation (besides the Hawaii trip) is to go to WDW for 5 days and then grab the Disney Cruise. Now that would be so much fun... maybe we'll do that in 2014.

Don't feel alone Nancy, I'm a short stay gal too. My parents would take me for 2 weeks when I was a kid, but as an adult 5 nights is the most that I've been able to stay. I've done a bunch of 3 night trips, and while they're fun I never feel like it's quiet enough time. Truth is though some Disney is 100x better than no Disney at all! mickey

Us, too! We're doing 5 nights Sunday to Friday. Can't afford anymore, though I would love it! Maybe one day, but I'm more than happy with just being able to go at all. mickey

Nancy D - The last time I went (4+ years ago) I stayed 5 days/4 nights. It wasn't long enough so this time I am going for 6 days/5nights. Unfortunately, it is because my father passed away and left my siblings and me a small inheritance. So when I go it will be with a happy and sad heart all at once.

Sorry to hear about your dad PirateGirl...but you can use the trip as a great way to celebrate his memory. Make sure you have a magical time.

Think of it as happy and a wonderful way to remember him. When my Grandmother died I got a little bit of money that I bought more DVC points with. I figured that every time I used those points I could remember my grandma while doing something that I love. I always take a minute while on vacation to stop and thank her for giving us that extra bit of joy.

If it weren't for my dvc points. which I was banking to take my wife, my brother, and his family, and my sister, and hers,on vacation, I wouldn't be able to stay this long either. Unfortunately, they had to back out, so I figured it might be a good time to just go, just me, and the DW. My son doesn't want to miss college, and my daughter doesn't like disney( she may have been switched at birth).

that made me laugh so hard!

We always go for at least 2 weeks but that's cause there would be no point really going for a few days all the way from the UK, but this will be the first time ever we have stayed onsite, it's just so expensive! For 7 nights onsite we are paying about 2000 pounds but for the 12 nights we are staying in the villa we are paying a grand total of.... 356 pounds, ok admittedly we get free dining the first week but we would never spend that much on food anyway as we like to eat offsite a lot, as most of the restaurants in Orlando we don't get here in the UK. And yes the villa cost is split between 4 couples.

If we only ever wanted to stay onsite our trips would be few and far between, I don't want to save like we have for this trip again, we haven't spent anything! Not been able to go out for dinner or anything, it's been a nightmare, yes trip will be wonderful! And yes it will be worth it, but no, I won't do it again, we're spending about 6000 pounds! that's for me, just way too much to spend on a trip when we're not rich lol

We come from California and have a DVC Membership at the Beach Club, so we usually stay for 10-12 days every other year. This year, we will be going for 11 days, and believe it or not, it still feels short! But I do incorporate one or two "free days" into the itinerary. It gives us 1.5 - 2 days at each park, time for an afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian, and a segway tour. And, those afternoon naps are VERY important -- even though we don't have kids with us!!

I usually stay 8 days/7 nights or longer. If I'm going to WDW, I need to get my money's worth. My seven solo* trips were as follows:

October 13-20, 2000
December 3-14, 2003
December 8-15, 2004
November 30-December 8, 2005
May 10-16, 2006
Disney Wonder December 3-7, 2006; Beach Club December 7-12, 2006
Disney Wonder December 2-6, 2007; All Star Movies December 6-11, 2007; AKL December 6-11, 2007

*If I waited for someone to go with me, I'd never leave home.

No Hardy, the problem with a lot of young kids today is that they get to much "given" to them. The fact of the matter is , everyone of us worked or tails off to be able to stay at the World for that long at a time. The hard truth is, and I do not mean this in a mean way, but you have to growup, finish school, get a good job, and you too can go to WDW for 10 day vacations.

You're telling me. Trust me, I'm not one of those kids, man. I work my tail off every day to get better at what I want to do, and I do it for free. It's writing fantasy football/sports articles. I do it everyday so I can get better. I know I have to go through college, in fact, I already have a college picked out, a degree picked out, I know where I'm going and what I want to do. You're talking to the wrong kid man! I'm driven!

I know that might have come off a bit rude, but I do what I can. I have a job, work an internhsip for my local newspaper, do a podcast once a day, write 2-3 articles a day and go to school all to better my future. My first ACT score was 28. I'm 15 and a junior -- I skipped a grade and I still take 3 honors classes and still have a GPA above 4.0. Like I said, I know you're talking about kids in general, but that's not me.

That is a beautiful story and very inspiration for my future. This year is my last big trip for a number of years but I likely could afford to go a lot of places if I followed similar tips. Thanks!

Always 14 nights! Travelling from the UK, there's no point going for anything less! We save long and hard for those trips,, going without other things so we can get back to WDW! It's worth every penny!
I would love to go for 3 weeks, with 1 week off site and two weeks on!

If I ever win the lottery I'm going for 3 months - the longest a tourist visa will allow lol!

Just like campbell87, we're also from the UK (north east of Scotland) we normally go for two weeks, making the flight time worth it. Although this trip we're staying for 16 nights which it a bit of a bonus. Just means more time to pack in the magic. yay
