Funny, bali. I don't weigh enough according to my scales, but if their scales are anything like my doctor's office, I might be on the bubble. laugh

My backup plan is to go up in the helium balloon. Not quite the same, I know, but it still offers great views, it's also on my bucket list, and it's a lot cheaper.

Amen sister! And don't get me started about some of the people I see getting out of cars parked in HANDICAP parking!

I'm starting to have some anxiety about my schedule for my trip! sad

I think I'm trying to do too much, but since I don't know when I'll make it to WDW again, I'm trying to cram in everything. I thought I'd have more than enough time for everything with 7 nights and 8 days, but according to my schedule, not so.

My schedule currently has me avoiding all EMHs like the plague, because
I despise crowds. My idea of a perfect vacation is to sleep late every day, but I've bought into the hype that if I don't get to the parks at opening, I run the risk of missing out on the rides I most want to enjoy. (I keep reading reports of FPs for rides like Soarin being gone by 10am!)

I had hoped that if I just got up early to get to the
park at opening, I'd be able to go back to my resort just after lunch
and enjoy the pool or a nap all afternoon. But as I'm playing with my schedule (on Ridemax), I realize
that even with getting there at park opening, I'm still in the parks
until 2 or 3 in order to cram everything in, so by the time I get back to my resort, all I'll have
time for is to change and head out for dinner. My plans have me running from 8:30am to after 9pm every night (and I do mean "running"--there is very little break time to rest every day). Even so, and even with me spending 3 different nights at Epcot, I still don't think I'll be able to see all the shows I want to in World Showcase.

I'm exhausted already and I haven't even left. It's not sounding like a vacation any more, it sounds like work.

Help! I think I need an intervention. laugh

Oh! Poor you! I know EXACTLY how you feel. I've had a lot of vacations that ended up crap-o because I was too concerned with seeing EVERYTHING and not concerned enough with actually enjoying myself. I still do it almost every trip!!

Here's the great advice I give myself: At this point, you choose the top 5 things you want to do in each park. Set your priorities, then remind yourself that you're on vacation. Six months from now, you're going to remember that you had a nice, relaxing and enjoyable vacation, not that you didn't ride everything you wanted to ride.

I think I'd agree that evening EMHs can be more harm than good (Epcot's World Showcase and Animal Kingdom being the only exceptions). But morning EMHs are where it's at. Go to those and you'll get a A LOT done.

Rest and relaxation is mucho importante, so consider setting some ground rules for yourself that you're going to leave the park at 1:00pm each day and go back to your resort to rest. That's why you're on vacation after all.

You'll be a happier camper if you nap and swim than if you see Miyuke the candy lady, I promise (she's interesting, but she ain't THAT interesting!).

Thanks for the sympathy, bali, and for reminding me of what's important on my vacation. You're right, I really need to make some hard choices and let go of some things. As I'm looking over my itineraries, there are definitely some things that can be cut.

I think you ride what you ride and what you don't you don't. Just make sure you hit the highlights. Besides Space Mountain will be closed so you have to go back anyway!

Would love to hear some of the top things on your list, SF. Might give the rest of us some good ideas.

Highlights are horseback riding and hopefully parasailing; I'm pulling together a small group from the DIS boards at Jellyrolls Friday night; I want to use my new camera a lot, so I want to visit other resorts--AK, WL, GF. I'm spending an evening at the Poly--torchlighting ceremony, Tambu Lounge, Kona Cafe, electric water pageant. I want to spend some time exploring the Boardwalk since I never made it there last time. I'll spend a little time in DTD, but I'm not much of a shopper, so it'll probably be very short. I'm staying at CSR, and the pictures of the grounds I've seen are gorgeous, so I will want to explore the property, hang out by the pool, etc. I want to give Rix Lounge a try one night.

As for park highlights, I'll hit all the parks. Top things for Epcot are Soarin, TT, SE, Illuminations, HISTA, (I decided to skip MS), Gran Fiesta, Maelstrom, the movies at WS, Off Kilter, the Beatles tribute band, and then if I can squeeze in the Taiko Drummers, the Mariachi band, and Mo Rockin, great, but if I can't, I can't. Of course, I want to check out the F&G festival and take lots of pics. If I have time, I'll do the Energy Adventure, but if not, no loss.

MKs priorities are POFC (refurbed since I was last there), IASW (ditto), HM, BTMR, JC, Tiki, Philharmagic, Monsters, and SWSA.

AK's priorities are KS, EE, Nemo, Lion King, and Dinosaur. At this point, I'm planning to go back a second day to do Pangani and Maharaja and take pictures and then go to MK to take pics too.

DHS priorities are RNR, TOT, and LMA! since I didn't do them last time. Will also do ST, M3D, TGMR, and BLT.

I have tons of ADRs--Coral Reef, Kona Cafe, Y&Y, Chefs, Brown Derby, Spoodles, Wolfgang Puck and I'm joining another DISer one night for dinner at Bluezoo.

Don't forget to do Toy Story Mania at DHS! It's worth doing and requires a little planning because of the lines.

Sorry, cdub, I have zero interest in TSM. I've never even seen the movie(s?). I consider my lack of interest to be a good thing, since I know everyone and their brother is going to be rushing over there to do that 1st thing. So I should be able to get on the rides I want with little wait.

Star Tours, The Great Movie Ride, Back Lot Tour. Trust me, I'll be taking tons of pictures--I just hope they turn out well!

I'm open to suggestions. I always draw a blank once I'm in a piano bar. The only song I can ever think of is Billy Joel's "Piano Man" which is a little too obvious to request.

Funny. Unfortunately, I then wouldn't know if they were or were not, since I'm not familiar with Rachmaninoff myself.

But people still do! laugh

You're always safe with requesting really popular stuff. I always like when they do Billy Joel's Scenes From an Italian Restaurant. You can request Sinatra, Jimmy Buffet, "Sweet Caroline," Elton John, John Mellencamp, Queen, Meatloaf, Simon and Garfunkle, Journey, Chicago, the Police...

If you have a favorite band, but aren't sure what songs they might know, just request a song by that band and they'll pick one. mickey

Hi,

In 2006 when I went to JellyRolls, I requested "Hotel California"by the Eagles. They played it and it turned into a really good singalong.

That's a great idea--everyone loves that song...or at least knows it!

...such a lovely place...such a lovely face... Smile

What a great song.

And Piano Man is played there EVERY night. They usually wait until everyone is good and drunk so that it's a good singalong.

AUGH!!! #@!*&!%!! I am having technical difficulties sending Twitter updates via my Virgin Mobil cell phone (my phone sends them, but Twitter doesn't receive them), which is my only means to update my blog/contact the outside world while at WDW. I contacted Twitter this a.m. and haven't heard back. I called Virgin Mobil, and the guy who answered the phone didn't even know what Twitter WAS.

I would like to now put in a request for the creation of an emoticon that repeatedly bashes its forehead against a brick wall.....

Upshot is, I might not be able to post updates re what I'm doing at WDW while I'm there after all. sad

And you mocked those of us who bring our laptops! silly

We just don't trust technology and bring backups!

I bet you'll get something worked out.

"Mocked" is a strong word, Brad. I'd say "teased". biggrin

I still won't bring my laptop. Too much of a hassle. Plus I wouldn't be able to relax, worrying about it being all by itself in a strange hotel room....
