Sounds like a great plan!

Another suggestion if you want to bring cash on the trip but don't want to carry it all with you is to use the room safe. They have them at Pop so I'm guessing the other resorts do as well.

I completely forgot about the room safes, thank you JoAnn!

I just downloaded this and discovered that I have $110 for vacation I had forgotten about!

Thanks Mase! Very nice App, I wouldn't have found this without your suggestion!

awesome

Glad I can help out. It was soooooo useful last year. Because you know how kids... you will ask... do you know how much is left on your Gift Card? You will get two answers that are usually both incorrect... "Yeah Dad... I have plenty on it". Oh yeah... $4.57 left for a $33 item. Or you will get.... "Ummmm.... IDK?" And there is still $4.57 left when they want the item... lol

So with the app... it was so great to be able to keep track of exactly how much they had left on the kids cards.

I have always wrapped my last receipt around the gift card so that I would know, I'm excited that I don't have to do that anymore! Even if I don't keep the receipt I can still know what's on the card without bothering a cast member.

If I remember right... you can also see what was purchased to in the app? I could be wrong... but I think you can?

Yes! It shows the last three transactions and I think you could look back a little further too. It's a really nice app.

Such a shame that the app doesn't work for us in the UK. Sad

I think my plan of action will be using the room key to charge stuff to, and each morning i will pay the balance off with cash. That way I won't overspend but I will also have the flexibility of not having to carry much cash around with me.

This is my plan as well cadac. I will charge things to the room and then use the gift card to pay off the balance each morning. This way I won't have alot of cash with us, and won't have a credit card bill when we get back to New Jersey Big smile

We are going on our first trip and staying at WBC, so we won't have KTTW. I came across this board doing a search about using pre-paid Visa at WDW, because it seemed a smart idea to me. I am a bit confused as to why so many people prefer gift cards to a prepaid Visa. What benefit do you get by using a gift card? (I don't live anywhere that gives away free gas for buying one.) All I see is a limitation on where I can spend my money.

Hi Daddylicious! Welcome to the boards! For me, the limitation on where I can spend my money is a bonus. I'm not tempted to spend it on something else. Disney money goes to Disney, period. If I use it on vacation, that's great! If I come to the end of vacation and still have money on the gift card, I either buy extra souvenirs or I consider it the beginning of saving for my next trip.

And Disney gift cards have no expiration dates nor do you lose money like some cards. So if you are planning another trip (and who isn't) you still have money available.

How much would you recommend
putting on the card? I have the quick service so I have
meals paid for and one snack. It would just be jewelry and fun
stuffs like that. I'm going to be there June 7-June 15.

That really depends on your budget and what sort of souvenirs think you'll want to buy. You can get ideas on product pricing my browsing DisneyStore.com, sometimes I go with LOTS of extra money and sometimes I go with very little. I also frequently keep my booze budget on a Gift Card. mickey
