Yep - the trips were going to be just a couple of days apart and there's no way I can afford to do both. So Tori and I decided to just eat the cost of our 10K bibs and schedule a couple of days at Disneyland before the conference instead. I'm super bummed because it also means that we don't get to do the cruise we had booked after the race. However, this is a unique business opportunity and not one that is likely to come around again if I don't jump at it right now. Sucks to be a grown up sometimes - but there you have it.

Yes, it does. I had to cancel my trip to Disneyland last month for the DL half because I just wasn't going to run well and didn't feel right spending all that money.

Good luck with the business opportunity, though! That's very exciting!

Thank you! It is very exciting and I hope that the work I'm putting into it will pay off in the long run.

Is the Wine and Dine race a night race?

I know this seems a long way out but I am thinking of doing Tinkerbell at DL 2015 and then the Wine and Dine WDW 2015 to get my coast to coast. Knowing me and how I train just feel that looking at a race in 2015 gives me better training time. I always have a good program worked out. But seem to never really get training until 3 months before race. This way I figure I have a long window to work with.

Yes, it's a night race. 10pm gun, just like ToT. Although it's not really a gun, but fireworks, but you get my drift!!

2015 is not that far out to start planning. Not just b/c you need to train, that's the EASY part. Getting in to the races (especially tink) can be tough as they sell out fast, so you have to plan ahead. Oh yeah, and there's that whole "paying" for them thing....Totally down with your plan. It's a great idea!!!!

Anyway, my running ladies want to do the marathon in 2015 at WDW and then the DL Half for a C2C. Although I'm earning the pink princess C2C this year (hopefully.....if all goes well and the knees stay in one piece), I told them I'm definitely IN!! Never too early to plan!!

Hi JMUDukz

I read your post about the ToT and Congrats.
I did the half in 2010 with my sister and it was snowing before the race started. COLD!

OH dear. I would be so unprepared for that!! I hope it doesn't snow for any of the races! There's a chance it may snow (flurry) here this weekend for my last long run.

What did you think of the half?? Any tips/tricks??

Spook: How is your knee??

My knee is better, not quite 100% though. I've done 2 short runs (3miles) since I hurt it, the second one being tonight. I feel like I could finish the race no problem but I do hope it gets better. I prefer no pain wink
I'm liking my new shoes though. They feel good, much better than the foam roller laugh I've got one more short run this week then my last long run on the weekend. 14 miles eek should I still be doing the full 14 or should I cut it down to 13.5 to save my knee?

Honestly? I wouldn't do that much two weeks out, especially if you're having trouble. You've done 10, right? I'd do 10 this week and maybe 7-8 next week.

I was going to say 10 too. If you can do 10, you can do 13.1. Save your knee, not worth risking the injury this close to the race!

Well we made it 9.5 miles before the knee pain became a bit much. I'm confident though that we will finish the race awesome
Thanks again for all the tips and support. Smile

So, not long now until the wine and dine running weekend. Who is signed up for races?
Is anyone else doing the 5k?

I think Spook, JMUDukz and Taratru are doing the half marathon? Anyone else?

(Just an update on my training too, I completed the zero to 5K app - 24 runs altogether. The final one was 35 minutes continuous running which should have equalled 5k but I am slow so when I distance measured it afterwards, it was more like 4.2K. I am not too worried though as I still had a bit of energy left so could have run a bit further or faster. When I first started running I struggled to run for one minute because of recovering from my illness and treatment, so 35 minutes is almost unbelievable to me - and I lost 10lbs too! Not sure it will stay off though with all that lovely Disney food!)

Thanks Spook. I am really excited about doing this now. 5K still seems a real challenge to me, I am so in awe of you guys doing the half marathon! Spook, hope your knee is feeling better and that everyone is fit, well and injury free.

Dang girl!! I'm impressed and very happy for you!! 10lbs down!!! I'm jealous, running does not help me lose weight (probably b/c, like tonight, the run is finished off with beer and burgers with the running divas! That may be the issue....). I'm so happy for you!! I'm with Spook, I can't imagine running 35 mins all at once, slow or not!!

I'm proud of all of us for committing to a goal and sticking to it, through injuries and everything else that life has thrown at us!! I certainly hope to see you all there (I will be wearing a black tank top with pink glitter lettering that says "I run for Disney". I had it custom printed, so I should be the only one!). Regardless, I know with faith, trust, and pixie dust we will all be sporting our medals ALL weekend long!!

When is everyone planning on going to the Expo?? I'm going Friday, not sure what time. Please post here what time you think you'll go and maybe we can have a quick meet up!

I expect race reports ladies and gentlemen!! Carry your phones or cameras, the pictures are worth a few extra seconds on your time! laugh

I'm also going to the expo sometime Friday. We fly in around 1:30pm then we take ME to our resort and check in and then off to the expo so I have no idea what time that'll be. At the race I'm be wearing a purple tank top with a purple sparkle skirt (I'm dressing as Rapunzel) while DH is dressing as Flynn Rider. Mr Penguin (shown in my profile pic) will be dressed as Pascal so I should be the only person with a penguin dresses as a chameleon laugh We're also in the last corral (L)

We (DH and I) are planning to go to the expo on Friday, more or less when it first opens, around 10am. This is for two reasons. First I thought it may get busier later on in the day and second it will still leave us most of Friday to go to a park. I know I am doing a different race to you other girls, but I will be wearing a purple tutu with animal print embellishments and a purple Minnie Mouse T-Shirt.

What time is the half marathon? Can we go as spectators to cheer you on? Would we need special tickets for this or just normal park admission?

You should be able to watch the race like the start or somewhere along the course but you will need special admission to the post race party and that is sold out I believe.

The race starts at 10pm! I think you can watch at certain points, but Mandy is right, you need a special ticket for the finish. If you're at the Boardwalk area though, the race goes right through there!
