) who was moving on from the hobby, so that was a great opportunity. I was buying occasionally on ebay, but the uncertainty of working a commission-based job coupled with increased traveling this year as forced a pin purchasing embargo for the time being. I've also done some trading on pinpics, but it can be rather cumbersome to do via mail. I've heard of the New Jersey group. I may have to check them out at some point. I like trading in person better because it really promotes the spirit of using the pins as a vehicle to get to know each other better. Unfortunately, Chicago is a heck of a commute from south central PA!!
If you are ever in the Chicago area during our pin trading Saturday, consider yourself having a standing invitation to come visit us. And bring lots of pins!!
I've tried inviting a few of this forum's members who are in the area, but no one seems to have taken up on that invitation. Are they all afraid that I might bite? I will have you all know that I've had my rabies shot.
Zz.
Considering it's been nearly 25 years since the last time I was in Chicago (mom was navigating and dad made a wrong turn and we ended up driving throughout the ghetto at night. I was in the back seat listening to my walkman. LOL. fun times.)...I should be due for a return trip!
My track record for traveling in a midwestern direction is not the greatest, but if I do happen by, Windy City Pin Traders will be at the absolute top of my to-do list--followed closely by a pilgrimage to hang out with Angie & Amy!
My non-Disney travel typically revolves around our annual YMCA Gymnastics Nationals competition and my real estate company's annual conference. The recent opportunities for travel have been to Austin, LA, Savannah, and Tampa. Next year Nationals is in Wichita (boss hasn't decided if we're going. Fingers crossed for staying home--I don't actually care to go to Kansas mid-tornado season) and the conference is in Washington, DC (only two hours down the road for me and I worked there for three years...not very exciting). Hopefully Chicago will come up as an event location soon!!!
