This thread makes me feel better. My husband and I run the numbers all the time and it is just not working. Like many have said here we love PO:FQ and it just doesn't make sense for us to "upgrade" just to be a DVC member.
Part of us wants to do it so badly but it just never works for us.
For people who usually stay at moderate resorts and are really happy there, it doesn't always make sense. The value for that situation is that you get to stay at the deluxe properties while maintaining a moderate resort price. Nothing wrong with either of those choices.

When I talk to people about buying DVC I always equate it to having a baby, because that's how it was for us. There is no "right" or "best" time, and if we had kept waiting for one we would have never done it. You just have to take the plunge and go for it if it's something you want. Ugh - to think of the money that we would have saved if I had bought when I first looked at DVC compared to when I finally bought it kind of makes my stomach turn.

Exactly Kristen! We so wish we would have bought when they first started selling.
I live in Florida and stay average of 10 nights per year ALWAYS on property. Why no DVC? It doesn't mathematically work out. My thoughts are is that you only save money if you are used to paying $400/night for Deluxe rooms. When we do stay Deluxe they are usually more like $200 to $250 a night with the discounts. We usually just go with moderate to save money. With DVC you don't have these choices and it seems you have to book way in advance. Now I can cancel within 5 days of my trip, stay anywhere, and at least get my room cleaned every day!
